Paid $400 and neither one chimes. I suppose the clocks are clean. Even with daily winding the really old one frequently stops at 1:10 pm. He did say it was really 'touchy' and was probably too old to really fix it. It's windup for the chimes has now quit (like it is overwound) also - the same as it did when I took it in. The grandfather clock runs well but I have been unable to adjust the chimes properly. This is frustrating as I have had it in two times. I cannot afford to pay him to come out and adjust the chimes (I haven't even asked him), so I have given up on either one working. So much for the $400.

Did a really good job. We are now just working at home to get the timing exactly right. His services were what we needed. It's hard to find an old fashioned clock repair shop that can even provide this type of service. They seem to be a dying breed. My only comment would be price, but it just might be what type of service costs.

Our 25 year old German wall clock stopped working so we researched Angie's List to find a clock repairman. Unfortunately there are very few establishments that repair mechanical clocks nowadays. The first vendor we researched was no longer in business and the second was no longer taking repair orders for new customers. Just when we thought our beloved clock was going to just become a nonfunctioning wall decoration, we took our clock to the one remaining on the list - Murphy's Clock and Watch Shop. 

Mr. Murphy quickly assessed the problem and gave us a quote for repair. Our clock was cleaned and  a broken part was replaced. The service charge was just as quoted, the repair was completed sooner than expected and our mechanical wall clock is back up to 8 days between windings.

I highly recommend Murphy's Clock and Watch Shop if you have a mechanical clock in need of repair. Mr. Murphy is a rare clock craftsman in these days of electronic quartz movements.

After returning home with the clock, I realized the chimes were not in sync with the clock. I called the shop and was told to return it, which is very inconvenient for me,and I asked him to come to my house since the clock had been released without being properly adjusted. He first refused but later relented and called to say he would come by. After stopping by and quickly adjusting the clock, it has worked perfectly, He obviously is very skilled and I would use him again.

I contacted the business number by phone to ensure they provided the services I needed and to find out the cost. The gentleman was very helpful and even offered shortcut directions to his shop other than the route I had planned to use. I brought him three watches in need of battery changes. I was able to wait while he attended to my jewelry. He was able to change batteries on two of the watches and informed me the third watch needed more than a battery repair due to rust leaking from the old battery. I opted not to have that one repaired at the present time. He told me what the potential cost would be of the third watch. All this took less than 15 minutes and I was on my way. The cost was very reasonable and I plan to use his services again!

Perfect! When stationed in German, we invested a lot of money into a German cuckoo clock. When we first arrived in San Antonio in 2000, the clock mechanisms needed to be adjusted after the move. He did an expert job then...and only in 2012 did I have to take it back to him for cleaning. The clock runs perfectly. He explained everything, such as how the parts wear over time, etc.
I must admit, I am shocked to see that others have not posted a review for this business. He has been there for several years--and based on his shop--he has a very steady stream of business.
