Horrible. She would Yell at us and her workers. We would a agree to one thing and then she would go back on her word. She tried to rip us off several times. One time in particular she tried to charge us 7k for carpet that the vendor said only cost 3K. Oh yeah and she wasn't paying her subs..she was telling the subs that they were not getting paid because we hadn't paid!! Which was a lie. We had one of the subs show up to our house asking why we haven't paid...really!! We had mechanics liens filed on our home... we had to handle it with lawyers. It was a total mess. She shouldn't be able to do business.

None of her past subcontractors will work for her again ex. Tile company, plumbing company, glass company,. Roofing company. Sooner or later she will have gone through All the subcontractors and hopefully go out of business.

It went terribly.
- The project took almost twice as long as we were told
- The owner, Mindy Rowe, made us and my in laws feel very uncomfortable by the way she spoke, yelled and cursed at her subcontractors in front of everyone
- The project took almost a month in which the contractor was on the property no more than a quarter of the time resulting in many things having to be fixed, reversed, etc as a result of her lack of guidance and communication
- The contractor hired a plumbing company that installed our plumbing incorrectly, causing our master bedroom wall and floors to flood and warp; in result Mindy Rowe told me that it was my fault that the plumbing was done incorrectly because I told her that we wanted to use her less expensive plumber since the initial plumbing quote was astronomical
- MRB offered to fix the floors but demanded that we pay a portion to fix the floors as her insurance company had said that our floors had depreciated
- When fixing our floors, this project, one again, took twice as long as we were told in which we expressed our frustration with her - she was upset that we confronted her about the delay so she pulled our housekeeper aside and began making inappropriate comments about the nature of my husband and I's marriage/relationship
- We were told that we wouldn't have to remove the baby from the house for the time that the floors were being fixed, however, that was completely incorrect once the entire house smelled of paint thinner and oil based paint which is not safe for a baby
- One of the steps that her team installed cracked yesterday, less than 5 months after it was installed

Response from Mindy Rowe Builders Inc
"In response to a complaint from the Client, the kitchen remodel was completed in a 1 months' time frame, as stated by our contract. MRBuilders Inc. was paid in full at completion after a walk through with the client. The same day Rodgers had informed MRBuilders Inc. and other subcontractors they were "very satisfied and happy" with the job and how it turned out after completion. In response to any comments that were made by involved parties MRBuilders Inc. does not recall any comments to or from any person regarding my client's personal or family matters, neither was any inappropriate comments made to or from my sub contractors speaking inappropriately to me or the client or the clients family. In regard to the plumbing issue, please note the plumbing company was pre-selected and approved by the homeowner. The MRBuilders Inc. company that MRBuilders Inc. has used for years was denied by the homeowner at their request. The clients informed MRBuilders Inc. due to their personal finances that they were not, at the time ,able to afford the suggested subcontractor provided by MRBuilders Inc. The plumbing company the clients selected which was in there budget did the job correct according to the plumbing inspector provided by the City of Alamo Heights to ensure a proper completion of the jobsite, which passed all of the inspections. The plumbing company selected by clients that was contracted, when the plumber hooked up water line to refrigerator when the refrigerator was pushed back into place somehow the line got crimped either by the plumber or by homeowner later that day if they made any adjustments themselves. This crimp caused a small leak in between the kitchen and master bedroom wall that damaged a small portion of laminate wood floor in master bedroom. The sub contractor plumbers insurance company completed their own/investigation on the homeowners claim, which had its own time frame that was independent of MRBuilders Inc. This investigation had no interaction with MRBuilders Inc. apart from routine status update requests from MRBuilders Inc. The clients floor was indeed repairable. The plumber's insurance then requested the laminate wood floor to be repaired if MRBuilders Inc. could find or match the exact color since the laminated wood was several years old. MRBuilders Inc. was able to match the exact flooring and color and still possesses the samples used in process. During this process a "Change Order" by clients was requested they wanted the entire laminate wood to be replaced. And upgraded to a different color and a more expensive graded flooring, then the original laminated wood flooring. Response to delays. MRbuilders Inc. was held up for weeks until the clients could make a decision on the color of the laminated wood flooring they wanted. After showing them a numerous samples they finally made their decision. In regard to fumes, MRBuilders Inc. touched- up a miniscule amount of shoe molding in master bedroom only. There was not enough paint used in this process that would hinder or harm their family or any animals. In response to cracked stair. The causes from this could be shifting of the house being a pier and beam structure or a heavy object was dropped on the surface. MRBuilders Inc. was never notified of this issue,"

We realized that we would need an additional bedroom when we discovered we were pregnant last summer. After finalizing our architect's drawings and assessing our budget, we were already four month's pregnant by the time we contacted Mindy to get a bid. We also spoke with three other contractors to get bids. Mindy came over several times with different subcontractors to assess our project and refine her estimates for the bid. She was very thorough in her evaluations and looked at even the tiniest details. She climbed through our attic and had a structural engineer look at our foundation. She listened very carefully to all of our requests and made sure they were included in her bid. Additionally she had all her paperwork in order and was licensed, insured, and bonded. She also agreed to provide waiver of liens signed by all her subcontractors upon completion of work. Mindy came highly recommended from our architect and still ended up being the most affordable bid that we received. She showed us at least four other properties that she had worked on and we got to meet the owners as well. Additionally I called several other clients of hers for references and all were very pleased with her work. She was always optimistic about our plans and time table and took time to explain things to us that we didn't always understand. By the time we were ready to hire her, it was already Thanksgiving and we worried about our timeline (the baby was due in early March 2012). She always maintained a positive attitude about our tight deadline and insisted it could be finished well before the baby arrived. She amazingly got our permits issued in less than a week which was unheard of in our township. They usually take three-four weeks. She began work immediately following Thanksgiving and really hit the ground running. She began demo on Monday morning and had the entire thing framed out and water tight by Friday afternoon which was fortuitous because it began to rain that Friday evening after months of draught. We never had a leak during the following weeks of rain as her crew worked tirelessly on the project. She had materials delivered in a timely fashion and was very careful with details from matching the roofing shingles' exact color to ensuring the carpentry trim and wood work was consistent with the rest of the house. She always kept an eye on future needs like fixtures and tile making sure that things were ordered by me or her on time and that nothing was backordered. It was a pleasure to watch how quickly the project came together. We were ahead of schedule from the first week and stayed that way the entire time. She was very detailed in any change orders that we signed and managed the payments efficiently. I never discussed money with any of her subcontractors but it seemed they were all paid on time. I have heard horror stories from friends of subs asking for advances from homeowners but that never occurred with us. Some of the workers came to know my daughter and dog from being on site for so long. They were always kind and cheerful and considerate to our needs. They took off very little time for Christmas and were all back to work the Monday after. Mindy always kept me informed about the progress of the work and which workers would be on site each day. I am a stay at home mom so I was home everyday to watch the work. It was reassuring to know what to expect and I never felt uneasy with anyone that came to work on the house. I was also pleased that she had the dumpster emptied when needed and monitored the port-o-let to make sure it was cleaned regularly. She even contacted City Hall when she discovered workers from other sites were using our unit. It was nice to know she maintained a clean working environment for us and for her crew. Renovation can be very stressful even in the best of situations but we never worried with Mindy overseeing the project. We had a few hiccups here and there but they were always resolved quickly. When the floor tile for the jack and jill bath became discolored during installation, Mindy negotiated to have it replaced for free. Eventually we decided to buy a different tile because we discovered the entire batch was defective. Mindy was able to get us a discounted price on the new porcelain tile. We also had to wait on the weather to cooperate before we could go ahead with the exterior painting. After a few weeks, we finally found a color we liked and the rain let up. We have had tons of compliments since then on the new house color and accents. In fact, several neighbors have complimented the work on the house and asked for Mindy's name for their own projects. We have been very pleased with our experience with Mindy Rowe. We are so glad the house renovation was completed well in time for our new baby and we've been very happy with the quality of work.

Ms. Rowe was on site each day, making certain all elements of the job were completed to our satisfaction (and she cleaned up meticulously each day!). While she wasn't the cheapest of the initial bids we received, Ms. Rowe was able to save us money on several items, to the extent we were able to upgrade some of the more important and visible features. We live in a historic home that is 100+ years old, bringing with it various challenges like plaster walls, old wiring, outdated plumbing, etc. Ms Rowe's past expreience with old homes proved an asset and enabled her to identify an effective solution each time we encountered a problem. We were so pleased with the work done in Jan 2010, we hired Ms. Rowe again in Sep 2010 to do additional needed repairs. We have also referred Ms. Rowe to friends, who have been equally satisfied.
