He confirmed that we had a leak below our foundation.  We already had 1 plumber out  at the suggestion of another party but did not trust his decision about a leak in the home. We had used Medina Best plumbing before a couple of years ago and trusted the company. So we were not surprised to hear about the leak but it just helped to hear it from someone we trusted.  Eloy gave up step by step reasons and explanations of the plumbing on why there is a leak and also gave us a quote on a pin point test. He went into detail what the pin point test would consist of. The static test performed on Sunday was cheaper than the charge we were given in 2008 so that was goood to hear too.

We received two estimates. Eloy Medina was recommended by the engineer we asked to come out to see if there was a foundation issue which needed to be repaired. It did not but he recommended Eloy and said to have it accessed from above rather than digging under the house as it was a few inches below the concrete. Eloy's estimate was the best of the two and we choose him since he was recommended by someone we know. The only negative thing I can say is that Eloy doesn't always show up. I had actually scheduled him to come out several months before and he never called to cancel and he didn't show up. We have another sink in the bathroom and the cold water was shut off so the leak was not active. I didn't make an issue of it since he did show up as scheduled when I tried him again several months later. As far as the work goes, he and his worker were knowledgeable and provided the service requested. We also hired him to reinstall the cabinet floors which had to be taken out to put in new plumbing and reinstall the carpet. They taped off the area as best they could to prevent dust from getting into the bedroom. Unfortunately part of the ceiling was pulled off when they removed the masking tape which was holding the plastic up. The drywall was repaired by someone who Eloy knows. The cost was $140 to refloat and paint the ceiling area. Eloy asked and we agreed to pay half ($70). Overall I would use him again because they are good at what they do but Eloy if you're reading this, it would be a good idea to call if you can't keep an appointment. It will make your service A+!
Response from MEDINA BEST PLUMBING
"I believe there was a miscommunication since we were never scheduled to start work until we were called and given the job. We went and gave an estimate for the work needed and were told due to a family emergency not to call her but rather wait to be called. Furthermore we were also told to email the proposal as to not disturb them during their delicate time. This call was to let us know if we were to be the company chosen and schedule a start date. Once we were awarded the job we worked diligently and meticulously on the project given to us. Any subcontractors used were supervised personally by us and were always held to our standards. Our schedule was set up to work around hers. We even worked late into the night on some occasions to fit their schedules, not being able to start the day until 12 or 1 in the afternoon. I believe our communication in order to do this had to be above average and was conveyed properly."

I am a widow and a little ignorant on some home repairs. My house was built in the late 1950's or 60's. The outside is half brick and siding. I was watering my lawn one evening when I noticed that a portion of my brick wall was wet leaving a small puddle of water on the ground ( my bathroom shower is on the other side). I panicked. I did not know any plumbers and I'm afraid of being taken advantage off, so I joined Angie's List.I found Medina's Best Plumbing which is not far from my house. He was very professional and he explained the pausable causes of the leak, one being that he might have to break into the concrert floor, which would have been a very costly repair. The leaks were located between the walls of the shower so he did have to make a hole in the wall to repair 2 leaks . I had my bathroom remodeled about 3 years ago so that was one of my main concerns. He installed a larged decorative cover plate to cover the hole and my shower looks like new again. He did do a beautiful job. I am very satisfied with the work done. I also had my outside faucets leaking and those were replaced. My water pressure was too high and that was taken care of also. I would recommend Medina"s Best Plumbing .

The toilet had been clogged for almost a week and a half because i was too embarassed to call someone to see all that mess! But after trying all the do- it- yourself suggestions in the book I finally looked in Angies list and called Medina best Plumbing because of all the excellent reviews.Eloy showed up in 15 minutes! that was the fastest service call I ever had.He was done in less than 15 minutes but spent almost 30 more minutes showing me how to prevent it happening again and even gave me tips on some other home jobs i need to do.I will recommend Eloy to anyone and I will definitely use him again.

Medina quoted us a hiigher price than other plumbing companies, but we understood this was because they were taking care of replacing the tile. The $600 charge Medina Plumbing tried to add on to the job was completely out of line. The tile people quoted $200 to replace sheetrock, and retile the 13 tiles removed from the backsplash. This is a considerable bigger job than the 6 tiles that were to be replaced in the shower/bath. The $600 that Medina Plumbing tried to charge us beyond the original quote was price gouging. Elloy used the excuse that they hadn't intended to quote the tile as part of the job to try to get more money, and when we held them to their quote, he used the $600 he wasn't going to get from us as an excuse to allow the job to drag on for months and allow substandard work. The work done on the tile was not done well, and Medina Plumbing doesn't want to honor their warranty because they know the job was not done well. The tile person showed up hours late if at all, his daughter was worse. After 31/2 months we have a sink with no backsplash, chipped and cracked tile in our shower, discolored grout, a mess of tile debris and dust throughout our bath, hall and bedroom and have had no luck getting Medina Plumbing to stand behind their work. After promising to oversee the job and make sure it was done right, Elloy never came back. We had to call or email him to get any response. He did not honor his promise to change tile people when there were so many problems, and has left us a mess. On 3/1 after the tile person had stood us up twice, Elloy agreed to send a different tile company out to do the job. He didn't. No one from Medina Plumbing or the tile company blocked off the bath to keep tile dust out of our bedroom during demolition, and rarely brought the right equipment. The tile people borrowed our fans and light to do the job, and left the equipment and space even more filthy than Timothy Revilla had. We were stuck with the tile installer's daughter who either didn't know what she was doing or didn't care. She did not remove old caulk before grouting over it, lied about breaking a tile in the shower/bath when the replacements were being set, used a scrap of house siding instead of tileboard as the base for the tile, did not seal the tile as promised, did not install the grout properly, did not remove the excess grout from the tiles, Our requests for help from Timothy and Elloy at Medina Plumbing were not honored. Timothy refused to have the damaged tile removed and replaced, refused to seal the tile or grout properly, and did not bring the proper tools with him either on 1/11 when he used a hammer instead of a dremmel tool, and on 3/22 when he did not have the piece needed to install the faucet handle. He refused to let me use the coupon I had printed out on 1/3. On 3/23, knowing I had to leave at 11 to catch a flight, he waited until 10 am to show up with the last piece after promising the day before to be done before 9 am.
Response from MEDINA BEST PLUMBING
"The primary error committed by the Medina Best Plumbing employee was that he failed to make a formal written Work Proposal Quote for any of the work done at the member's home. The price of $527.00 was for installation and parts for a Moen Posi-temp tub and shower valve with the upgraded solid brass chrome lever handle and trim. When it was brought to my attention that tile work, on top of the plumbing installation, was expected by the customer, I recognized that tile work would not have been included at that price and that there was no contractual obligation to do so, nonetheless, Medina Best Plumbing paid for a tile company to perform the tile work. The tile company is a completely separate entity. In the end, after many extra man hours spent going back and forth and paying for the tile work, this job was a loss in revenue for the company. Despite a financial loss, we did all we could to try to keep our customer satisfied when there was no contract to document customer expectations. To ensure that that Work Proposals are included with all jobs, we have made personnel adjustments and have improved oversight of employee-customer contact. Not insisting on a Work Proposal was an oversight of both parties, as we recommend anyone to require a formal Work Proposal regardless of what work is being done at the property. The plumbing work that we were originally obligated to do was quality work at a fair price. We went above and beyond what was expected of us. We did all we could for our customer, in light of the lack of a Work Proposal and we sincerely regret that the customer did not feel satisfied with our extra efforts. In spite of all the complications, a quality plumbing job was accomplished, job site was cleaned, and plenty of extra unplanned work was completed, which is a testament to our commitment to always try to do the best possible job for every customer. Thank you, Medina “BEST” Plumbing, LLC Eloy Medina Jr. Master Plumber, M-38441"

Called for service early in the day. Communicated well throughout the day and called prior to coming to the house. Also, called and let me know there would be a delay due to other jobs taking more time than expected. Came over and gave an estimate. Picked up additional parts at the store and returned rapidly to complete the job. Completion of the job included making sure there would be little to no air pockets in the water lines in the house. Very professional and would have explained more if needed.

I am having problems with them. First of all, they were going to come out on a Wednesday. I had to go to work. I found a message on my recorder telling me that they had had engine problems with one of their vehicles that hauls the little digger. They didn?t come till Friday. Mr. Medina told me that he had 20 years of plumbing experience. When they came on Friday, they broke the waterline when they were digging. You would expect experienced plumbers to know where the waterline was, and not break it. When I walked out to go to work, I found that my truck, which was parked in the driveway, was flooded with water. They repaired the waterline before they proceeded because I would have kept losing water. They dug in the yard and left a hole for San Antonio Water System (SAWS) to come and do some work. He said that he was helping SAWS by leaving the hole out so that they could see what was needed to be done. They did that on the Friday, and it is Tuesday today, and the hole is still out there; they have not filled it. They supposedly set it up with SAWS to have the hole filled. He is very big on explaining things, and obviously, he didn?t explain it very well to SAWS. I spoke to him yesterday at around 5 o?clock. He wanted to know if SAWS had come back, and I said that they had not. He wanted me to contact SAWS and get the hole filled. I told him that it was his job to do that. I have an unfilled hole and a pile of dirt in my front yard. When they came out and gave me an estimate, they were very professional, but I don?t consider them professional now. Their price was good. I received two estimates, and they actually gave me a $150 reduction because they were recommended through Angie?s List. I would not use them in the future. UPDATE: He scheduled the city to come out and fill the hole in my front yard. They came out and finished the job.

This was the best plumbing experience I have had in San Antonio. I called Medina Best Plumbing at about 10AM, They were very polite and helpful. Timothy and his helper were scheduled for about 2PM the same day. He called at 1:30 and said they would be there in about 30 minutes. They were right on time. My sink wasn't draining very slowly, but he checked the laundry room and we had a problem there. He opened the pipe behind the sink (which we had been unable to open for 15 years), snaked the drain clear, tested the washing machine several times, and cleaned up. He also showed me that I didn't need to replace the hot water faucet in the laundry, just tighten it, he showed me how to fix a pesky problem with my washing machine not draining properly. I am very impressed with the professionalism and helpfulness and will use them whenever I have a plumbing dilemma.

Overall this went very well considering this work was being done the week before Christmas, we had family visiting, and very much needed the shower! Eloy was very professional and on-time, and finished the shower on Christmas Eve. The contractors he hired to re-tile and fix the drywall (and texture & paint) our ceiling did a fabulous job - they found the correct tile to match what was already there, and also I cannot tell that the ceiling was ever opened in our garage. I wanted the replacement parts of our shower to be of the best quality (no cheap parts that would break!), Eloy provided these parts and the shower actually looks better than it did before. Overall we are very pleased with Eloy's work!
