First off, Mark (Owner) arrived an hour late the appointment. Appointment was scheduled for 8am and he arrived at 9am. He claims he got lost. We never received a phone call or text. Second, Mark was very unprofessional throughout the cleaning process. He kept asking me invasive questions about my life, kept telling me to go get cash from the atm since he ONLY accepts cash or money order since he does not want a paper trail. To me that sounds illegal, but I am not the IRS. Anyway, he didn't inform me that there was a potential for my baseboards to get damaged since they were made of MDF material versus solid wood. He failed to inspect the area of work and blamed me for not informing him. He didn't show me the contract until AFTER he was done. He disconnected the hose from the side of my home and left is thrown on the lawn and never placed it back where it was. He was very egotistical and kept proclaiming how great he was and how much money he made. He made racist comments towards particular ethnic groups and bad-mouthed his previous customers. Overall, horrible experience and I wouldn't even want this guy to come out to my home to try and fix his subpar work. My kitchen tiles still look dirty. Minimal difference.

"All I can say is wow to this one. Never again will I bend over backwards to try to accommodate someone again. Mr. [Member Name Removed] all I can ask you to do is seek mental health. You sir have a problem. All I can think of making you so hateful is that I'm retired from the Army and you were kicked out of the Air force....... is that it? You keep going to all these different sites giving me negative reviews.........must be your past time as I see you have quite a few and with 99% of them you trash the company. You didn't find me on Angies List but you took the time to join just so you could do a negative review."

We just had our tile floors cleaned and our grout cleaned and sealed. Our floors look fantastic. I didn't realize how much they needed cleaning until Mark did a demo on a good size section of our floor. The difference was immediately noticeable so he went to work on the rest of our floors. When I called to make the appointment he promptly returned my message. He arrived on time and didn't take payment until the work was completely done. I was very satisfied with his work and happy to support a local, veteran-owned business. Thanks, Mark!

Great! Mark, the company owner, came and and did the work. He first did a test area as he promised. The test run wasn’t overwhelming. He then modified the solution he uses and did another test area. The improvement was definitely noticeable. I told him to proceed with with entire job as we had discussed. We are pleased with the results. Mark is a polite and friendly businessman with integrity.

Mark quoted a price of $650 over the phone without actually seeing the work that needed done. He this was a fixed/flat fee for a shower. Service ended up costing us an additional $75 based on what Jeff saw once he was working on the shower. However, he gave us a discount equal to the sales tax for paying in cash. We discussed the service at length with Jeff before he left. To his credit, he did give good recommendations on cleaning and maintaining the shower (even gave us some free cleaner), and on other companies to replace shower doors and resurface the shower floor. However, there were a few areas of grout that are of concern to us. They look to us like they are not just differences in grout color. I called Mark the next day to discuss. I don't know if this is his style, but he came off as dismissive and had very little interest in my concerns. I even offered to send him some pictures, thinking he might be able to explain. He was disagreeable. He said it would cost us $100 to have them come back out and take a look. I have never experienced a company that doesn't stand behind their work at any cost, and want to strive for 110% satisfaction from customers. I will have to clean the tiles near the grout to remove excessive grout left on tiles. The bathroom sink and faucets were used to wash out their rags and was left a mess. If you want a company to address any concerns after the work is done, this may not be the company for you. The work they did was satisfactory, but did not provide in our opinion super service. We do want to thank Mark for serving our country.

"I talked with the husband not the wife and I did quote $650 for the standard shower service. Call my office tomorrow and I will always state $650........to clean-cut out all caulking-replace and seal...........I always ADD.....if we have to cut out grout it will cost MORE........ This what we get......Jeff only charged $75 more which was a heck of a bargain. THe husband KNEW the price before he sighed the work order????????????? The before and after pix are amazing!!!! Jeff told me at the end of the day she inspected the shower with a FLASHLIGHT.........a FLASHLIGHT.......never ever have I had a customer do this.......Jeff told me she would be calling to complain about something which she did......everything she complained about is clearly marked on the work and was explained in detail..... customers like this just make me want to sell my business........Thank God most of my customers are reasonable!"

Work for cleaning my tile & grout was scheduled for Friday, May 26th. Jeff showed up to do the "test section" to allow me to inspect their work before approving it to be done. Unfortunately, his truck broke down and he had to leave and was unable to return. He came back on Saturday and I thought he was going to finish the test section but he went right into cleaning it so I was not able to inspect their work and approve before he continued. When he was done I was concerned about the two-tone discoloration in the grout but he assured me that once the new sealer dried in 24/48hrs it would be one color. It is not! That's because it is not completely cleaned. There is still tons of sealer in the grout as you can see in the pictures attached. There was sealer left on the tile as well, but I was able to pick it off. I am still peeling sealer out of my grout. I have called and left messages 3 times to have someone come back out to inspect and fix it, but I have gotten no response whatsoever! I would not recommend this company - they do not offer the customer service they boast about on their website. I ended up paying cash because Jeff said I would receive a discount if I paid cash - I now wonder if the technician pocketed the cash!!
Response from Lone Star Tile & Grout Cleaning
"Test spot was done! Customer was quoted a price to clean the tile and grout and seal the grout but...... the customer failed to tell me on the phone that their was a coating of some type of the floor. This is what we get for helping (bending over backwards) her as we charge more if we have to strip a floor. Jeff was being a nice guy because we had equipment issues the first day and didn't charge her for the stripping. She paid cash because she complained to no end about the price...even though I told her what we charge per square foot before we ever went over. I paid the sales tax on my end........Jeff even manually stripped adhesive off the floor at no cost."

Wonderful experience with Lone Star Tile & Grout for grout cleaning and sealing services. Mark the owner did the job himself. He arrived 15 minutes ahead of schedule, did a walk through for accurate measurement of square footage, and provided a cost-free demonstration as advertised. Additionally, I wanted to stay under budget and initially chose not to clean behind our couch, but Mark told me he would do it for no additional cost since he was already at the house. He was also polite, courteous, and exceptionally professional. He also educated me on how some of our grout had been replaced by a previous owner & was a different shade, something which I would never have noticed had I not done the cleaning. Our tiles look fabulous and the grout looks brand new! Always enjoy supporting & using a local company and would highly recommend.

Tech was late due to a doctor's appointment. Mark did call to tell me he would be late. When tech showed up he did a test spot and dried it and it did not make much difference in the grout. He told me it could take 24 hours to see true results on grout, however the tile looked very clean so I approved to continue. After he was finished cleaning grout and tile the tech then proceeded to seal the grout. I was surprised that he just poured a product all over the tile and grout and mopped it in. When I asked about it getting on the tile (because I have had my grout sealed before and the seal was only placed on the grout and they were careful not to get it on the tile) he explained that the porcelain tile that I have would be fine with the sealer all over it. I was then instructed not to get the floors wet for 72 hours which I abided by. I will say that my grout looked very clean in some areas and other areas didn't look clean at all. I did not contact the company because I had out-of-town company 2 days after the service. I was surprised the owner did not contact me to see how everything went. So based on the results I probably would not have my tile and grout cleaned again. I also asked about the Angie's list discount and was told that I had only met the minimum limit of $350 and no discount would be given. I did point out that there was no stipulation to that on the Angie's list website and was told if I paid cash he would only charge me $350.

MARK DID A FANTASTIC JOB!  My house is now 10 years old and the tile grout has grown discolored and dingy looking. I did some searching and found Lone Star earned several high online customer satisfaction ratings so I checked out their website and saw they could stain the grout a different color.  I really didn't want to change the color of the grout but I thought it was the best option to hide future discoloration.  I called Lone Star last week and spoke with Mark.  Mark was direct, to the point, and actually talked me out of unnecessarily spending more money to stain the the grout.  After asking a few questions, he mined out what I really wanted- the same grout color but without growing dirty in the near future.   He quickly, clearly, and professionally explained what he would do, quoted me a square foot price, and set up an appointment.

Today was my appointment. Mark called me 45 minutes ahead of time, as he said he would, to give me advanced notice that he was on his way.   He arrived a few minutes ahead of our appointment time, measured the tiled areas, showed me a sample cleaning area to ensure I'd be satisfied with the end product, and gave me a final quote.

Well, the end result looks fantastic!  The tile grout looks like it did the day the tile was installed 10 years ago.  I also received a bit of an education on how to keep the grout looking fresh and clean. I couldn't be happier with my entire experience with Mark and Lone Star Tile & Grout Cleaning.

Some other comments I would use to describe my experience are:
  • Professional Appearance of person, vehicle, and equipment
  • Efficient
  • Conscientious of my furniture, cabinets, and other floors

It was an outstanding experience. The company was able to accommodate us during the week we requested the appointment, which was critical because we are moving very soon. The gentlemen showed up to the house and completed an estimate and demonstration of a cleaned area before I even agreed to use their service. This was important to me because I was able to preview the work and realized that they were invested in their craft and business. The work was compled in about 2 hours and the results were amazing. The tile looked like it was brand new. The difference is night and day, which will help us sell our house faster. I don't normally write reviews but I want to ensure that if people in the San Antonio area are looking for tile and grout cleaning, they are directed towards a bussiness that is professional and detail-oriented.

I had wanted to get the ceramic tile flooring in my house cleaned for a long time, but wasn’t compelled to get it done until my parents announced they’d be coming out of town to stay with me in less than a week! I immediately looked up several local vendors on Angie’s List, and put Lone Star Tile & Grout Cleaning on the top of my to-call list, based on their excellent reputation and positive reviews which spoke to the company’s experience and high-level quality work. I checked the link to the company’s website and was able to watch a video of the floor-cleaning process in advance – and was impressed how phenomenal their floors looked with a professional cleaning, regardless of material, surface area, or location. So I called but had to leave a voicemail, which was very promptly returned by the owner Mr. Mark Mullis. Our conversation was friendly but also professional, and Mr. Mullis described the terms of service in a manner which was both upfront and concrete. I was grateful that he was so very patient and informative in answering my questions (even though I’d said I was initially only calling for just a quote). Based on the excellent ratings/reviews and Mr. Mullis’ knowledgeable and informative input, I readily agreed to set up services. I couldn’t get any time off from work during the week and so I thought I’d have to settle for having the floors cleaned with my parents in town, but Mr. Mullis was determined to find a way to make it work before my parents arrived. Since he didn’t have any techs available to come out, he himself created an appointment and said he would come out on a Sunday and get it done himself! So a few days later on the date agreed upon, I received a courtesy call from Mr. Mullis to let me know he was on his way. He arrived promptly, courteously introduced himself and offered me his card, and allowed me to show him through the house to first assess the areas to be cleaned/sealed. We were able to first identify and agree upon areas around the baseboards and appliances that were already scratched or nicked, so that we could both be sure that no surface areas could be later claimed as having been damaged in the cleaning/sealing process (which I appreciated). Mr. Mullis then reiterated the terms of service, including pricing, quote, and the process of cleaning/sealing, to make sure all expectations were going to be met. He then measured the areas to be cleaned (kitchen, entryway, 2 bathrooms) with me present, and quoted the final price (the cost is determined as flat fee per square foot – exactly as had been stated in our phone call, without any hidden fees/charges – which was very competitive, especially considering the quality and thoroughness of the work done!). He then got his equipment set up, and demonstrated the cleaning process for my benefit. Throughout the process, he was great about explaining what (and how) the cleaning was being done. Mr. Mullis let me know at all times what he would be doing in which area of the house, and about how long each step would take. As a single professional female, I’m sketchy about allowing contractors into my home, but Mr. Mullis’ warmth and professionalism exceeded my expectations as a service provider, and I never had any concerns about him moving about the house to perform his work. The floors were done in a thorough and timely manner, and Mr. Mullis’ thorough work was beyond appreciated. He even took additional time to point out areas in the grout that had likely been affected by stains from previous owners which I wasn’t aware of (e.g., wine, paint), and was conscientious in taking time to apply specific compounds to these areas to ensure the grout was fully cleaned. Mr. Mullis also used a special brush to ensure the tile right along the edges of the floor got as much care as the center of the floor, and was also careful to protect furniture and baseboards and used several mats at entryways to make sure he didn’t drag cleaning agent/water or dirt throughout the house (he even made sure to take off his shoes when going back to seal the grout!). Mr. Mullis even provided gratis tips/suggestions on tile/grout maintenance to ensure my floors would continue to look great for a long time, and even gave me a free liter container of his branded floor cleaner (a capful to a gallon of water) to use on my floors in the future! Once everything was cleaned and had dried (he brought his own portable industrial space fans to dry the floors quickly), he used a patented tool to seal the grout in a very neat, even manner. And… done! Overall, a superb job, done in a professional manner, upstanding and conscientious provider, with a competitive price for excellent and thorough service. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with how great my floors look now, and knowing this service I can highly recommend Lone Star Tile & Grout Cleaning to anyone looking to have the best done for the care of their floors! A huge thanks to Mr. Mullis for such a fabulous job, start to finish… and in time for my parents to arrive. Lone Star Tile is AWESOME!

I remodeled my kitchen and had to add new travertine tiles to the existing floor than ran into the dining and living areas.  I hadn't cleaned the floors in the four years I'd been in the house and they had ground-in dirt that regular cleaning couldn't get out.  I was in a crunch because I wanted the floors cleaned before the cabinets were installed, but my contractor didn't want to skip a day of working.  Mark agreed to come out on a Sunday for me to help me out!!!

I was amazed how clean he got the floor.  I'm the only one who can really tell the new tiles from the old.

Absolutely excellent service! We moved in two our newly built home and struggled with cleaning our tile (1500+ sq ft). It always appeared dirty and I tried everything to clean it. I called Mark and set up service. Not only did he provide the service requested but he educated me on keeping my floors beautiful. A month later, we had to have work done in a bathroom shower and he came back to reseal the grout at no charge. Above and beyond!!

Looking over several local vendors, I selected Lone Star Tile & Grout Cleaning because of their price and reputation for top-notch quality service.  Mark Mullis, company owner, and his assistant, Jeff, did a superb job putting a clear coat sealant on the tile grout in my house.  Mark and Jeff were on-time, professional and very knowledgeable about their industry.  Before the appointment, Mark took the time to have a couple of lengthy phone conversations with me to answer my many questions regarding use of different sealants, application process, warranty, etc., and this greatly enabled my decision-making process.

Overall, a superb job at a competitive price.  I highly recommend anyone looking for a first-rate company with an outstanding reputation to examine what Lone Star Tile & Grout Cleaning has to offer.

They arrived right on time. They explained the whole process before starting the process.

There were a couple of pieces of furniture in the entry that they moved for me.

Jeff worked diligently for 4 hours. When he finished I could not believe my eyes.

It looked like new!!! They gave me the solution and detailed directions for maintaining the shine.

I highly recommend them!

I'm a repeat customer (3rd time today) because Mark and Jeff do such a good job.  This is the first time I had them do my carpet and it looks great.  Jeff was even able to get out a red wine stain!  And of course my tile looks great also.  Quality work, fair price, courteous, on-time.  What you should expect but sadly this is not how most providers I've dealt with operate.  That's why Lone Star stands out - they are obviously better than the rest and it shows.  I have recommended to my neighbors, friends, co-workers.
