Key Kong Locksmith

On the evening of Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, I locked the bottom lock of my front door when I left for vacation and the dog sitter who only has the code to the smart lock was not able to get into the home. I googled locksmith in my area and Key Kong Locksmith came up. I called Key Kong Locksmith panicked, they assured me not to worry, they'll have someone contact my dog walker within 30 minutes and someone should be able to go out within that time frame as well. I felt so relieved, I went on my trip. Later that night when I touched base with the dog sitter, she advised me that they charger $480.72!!! I was floored, I have used a locksmith in the past and it was $150 ($75 service call & $75 to open the door). I only didn't use that same company because I moved across town, and it was out of their service area. Key Kong Locksmith charged $89 Service Charge + $39 Office Fee + $299 House Lockout + 4% card fee ($18.49) + $35.23 Taxes = Totaling $480.72. I was not happy about that price; it seemed way overpriced, and I was confused on the additional fees. When I returned home from my trip on Sunday, July 7th, 2024, I came home to see what Key Kong Locksmith had done. They damaged my door so bad. My door and the door frame are made of real wood. There were wood chips still at the door, they replaced the latch with a color that did not match nor fit properly, the weather strip is damaged, the door is chipped, and the door frame has dents on it. This is not the work of a professional. I immediately called Key Kong Locksmith to let them know what Iâ ve been experiencing, and the representative said they would have a member of management. I did not receive a response. I called again on Friday, July 12th, 2024, and was told there is no number to transfer me to for management, there is no email, and the only thing they can do is send an email to management for someone to call me back. This is the worst experience Iâ ve ever had with a locksmith, Iâ m in real estate so I have had quite a few jobs done. I would not recommend Key Kong Locksmith to anyone. They are way overpriced, they did so much damage, and didnâ t even have the decency to contact me back. That is not quality service work and this is not customer service or care.

I called Key Kong at 3:00 PM, a locksmith arrived and provided quality service installing a new deadbolt and rekeying the lock and was finished by 4:30. Great customer service as well!

Install at first went fine until there was a minor problem with the small bracket that holds the latch a couple of months into it. Reached out to company and got the run-around for a week. Finally the original installer (Chris) came out and fixed the problem but had a serious unprofessional attitude over the phone and upon arrival. I will not be using them again and I suggest buyer beware because he stated they only guarantee if the lock falls off the door nothing else.

I got their call within minutes of requesting a quote. Chris was here within 30 minutes. He was very nice and courteous. Very professional. My dogs loved him too. Price was lower than what I thought it would be. Definitely would recommend them

Locksmith did a good work with the exception of two doors which he was unable to fix. Doors were from Europe and locks could be taken apart to rekey.

Provided a fair estimate on site. Looked like a regular street guy, but was very professional and helpful. His internet on his phone was not working properly (Sprint) for card payment, so allowed him to use my WiFi. Got the job done in a timely manner, and was prompt.

They were here less than two hours after I called Home Advisor. Did a great job quickly at a reasonable price.

My experience with Key-Kong Locksmith was terrible.I described the problem we were having in detail to their dispatcher, who said that they should be able to get us into the house for $35 dollars but there would be an additional charge to fix or replace the lock and/or re-key it. When the service rep arrived at the house, he said it would be $150 just to get us into the house. When contractors low-ball the estimate for a project, it dissuades the consumer from shopping around for a better or comparable price. If my husband hadn't been locked out at the end of a late November, 50 degree day, I would not have agreed to have this company do the work. In addition, when I talked to the service rep about the inflated price he was flippant and surly, and oddly enough admitted that this happens all the time, and then customers will call another company and it's more expensive blah, blah, blah and then they have to go back and it's a waste of HIS time! Then he claimed that the dispatcher was quoting a price for getting into a car, which was a complete lie since I made it crystal clear that it was the lock on the door to my house with which we were having a problem. I will say that at 65 years old, I should have known better; I always get multiple quotes, but under the circumstances, I guess wanted to believe these people would be honest and it would save my husband from being out in the cold. This is the first and last time I will use Home Advisor or Key Kong Locksmith. I will be sure to post this same review on our Next Door website to remind everyone to get multiple, itemized quotes from contractors.
