on 1/24/11 I purchased a safe from Mike at J. Ross Boles Co., Inc. He was very pleasant to deal with during the sales process. When I purchased the safe I also purchased delivery and bolt down (anchoring) of the safe in my home. The delivery service was very professional, punctual and friendly. The delivery gentleman asked me if I was sure I wanted to bolt down the safe since it was near a bathroom and he didn't want to hit any water lines in the foundation. He said he could come back later to do it when I figured out if there were water lines running there or not. I travel for for work and was unable to schedule a time for the delivery service to come back and bolt my safe down. After 6 to 9 months had gone by I called Mike to ask him what kind of credit I could get back on my credit card if I didn't get the safe bolted down since my schedule wouldn't allow for me to be home so the delivery service could bolt down my safe. He said the actual bolt down was only $65 of the $225 I paid for the delivery and not to worry because I could just get it scheduled when I was home. My travel schedule hadn't changed until last week so I contacted Mike on 4/15 to try and get a bolt down scheduled for 4/19. He said he would and quot;take care of meand quot; and would talk to the owner of J. Ross Boles and to the delivery service. I had to call Mike back on the 16th (he didn't call back) and again on the 17th. I reached him on the 17th and he said there was no way to schedule for the 19th because they had so many deliveries but again, not to worry and that he would take care of me. He said he needed some time to talk to the owner again because Mike thought that I lived in Houston, not San Antonio. Now that he understood I lived in San Antonio he would talk to the owner again and get something arranged for me. I called Mike again on Monday 4/22 and left a message since he didn't call me back as he said he would. I then received a call from the delivery service on Tuesday the 23rd saying they could bolt it down for me but that I would have to pay for it. I explained to them that I had already paid so I would call Mike again and then call them back. I called Mike on Tuesday and left him a message. He didn't call me back so I called him back on Thursday 4/25. That is when he said he had the delivery service call me because and quot;they do the bolt downs, I don'tand quot; (those were his exact words). So, I could see he was backing out of and quot;taking care of meand quot; as he said he would.

I have an historical home. Which simply means everything is a pain to fix.
Due to settling in the pier and beam foundation, the front door was sticking. The door finally torqued enough, the locking mechanism sheered off.
I called Boles because they are close to my house and I like to send business to local companies.
Within 15 minutes of my phone call, Glenn was standing in my living room with the tools and parts to fix the problem I described on over the phone. Glenn was friendly, seemed knowledgeable and more than helpful.
Unfortunately the lock on my door was made by a company out of Houston that ceased to exist about 15 years ago.
Glenn was not aware of any modern locks that would work with my existing frame work. Or any lock that would fit into the hole that would be left by removing my broken lock. He advised me to replace the frame and the door.
I trust his advice for two reasons.
1. Boles, nor Glenn, replace door frames.
2. A good friend and former locksmith made the same suggestion.
There was no charge for the service call.
Put simply: an old company remembering how to provide customer service.

I just purchased a new home that came with an AMSEC floor safe. The previous owner had given me the combination but I was having trouble opening the lock. Their service department walked me through how to open the safe over the phone for free when other companies I called here in SATX were looking to charge me a fee to send a technician out to my house to assist. I had an excellent experience with them and will use them for all future locksmithing needs.

Perfect. They repaired it on the spot and only took a few moments.

Everything went fine until the delivery day. The price was competitive and included delivery of the safe, uncrating, and placing it in the house. The salesman called when the safe was ready to be delivered and said the owner had decided that the price quoted for delivery was not enough and that I would have to pay the delivery man an extra $100.00 when he arrived. I indicated my displeasure at this and reminded him that I had paid the quoted price including the delivery charge when I ordered the safe and to change the price was unethical and unprofessional.
He apologized but said there was nothing he could do about it. The end result was that I had been waiting for the safe for approximately six weeks and did not want to start over with someone else so I paid the extra $100.00 to the driver when the safe was delivered.
Overall, I am satisfied with the product and actually satisfied with the overall presentation by the salesman. He was professional and was very helpful in assisting us to make a decision on which safe we wanted. I just did not appreciate the last minute increase for a product I had prepaid for at the original price quoted. I asked him if the owner felt that the extra $100.00 was worth losing possible future business from me as well as a loss of a referral source. He did not have an answer to that question.

I should mention that I drove the cabinets to their back door right after I purchased them. They were friendly, helpful and will continue to receive my business. Maybe I'm just partial to business with a history in San Antonio.

They have excellent service. He came the same day that I called. I ask for him every time. It's locally owned. It's a family company. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. I have used them through the years. I wouldn't go to anyone else.
