Ordered large quantity of floor tile. They checked in their computer to see if they could fill with same dye lot. They had enough but had to pull from other stores. When pick up time came they did not have tile. They never pulled the order and sold it. They gave us additional discount and ordered direct from vendor. Another 2 week wait! Unacceptable practice! When truck finally came from vendor- the vendor did not drop off tile because HOME DEPOT was unloading another truck and the vendor driver would not wait. Again, unacceptable practice!

I brought in my lawnmower on May 2.  I was not given an estimate but I was asked a series of questions about the lawnmower.  It had no major problems (that I knew) but I had not run it for 3 years and I could not get it started.  I needed it to have a general tune-up.  There was a problem with one of the cables.

I received a call on May 22 with an estimate for the repair.  I was quoted $137.00 for the brake line, blades, plus tune-up and labor.  This seemed reasonable though 20 days to get an estimate seemed excessive.  She indicated it would be at least 15 days until I got the lawnmower.

I checked by Home Depot around June 1 to find out the status of my lawnmower.  I was surprised to find out it had been shipped to Atlanta, Georgia.  She said it would probably be two weeks before it returned.

I was called on June 14 and told my lawnmower was ready.  When I went to pick it up on June 15, the woman indicated it was still in receiving and she would need to find it.  She returned around 15 minutes later.  The lawnmower was in an opened, oil stained box and the handle had been removed.  I asked her why they called me if it was still in receiving.  I could have come later in the week.  She indicated it would not have mattered.  She still would have had to go back and get it.  She called an associate to help me get the lawnmower out of the box and re-attach the handle.  He helped me take it to my car.  He lifted it into the trunk for me and tied it down.

The lawnmower needed gas (to be expected because of shipping) but the oil level seemed fine.  It started on the third pull and it ran well.  The rear wheel drive works well and the cutting blades are doing a nice job.  I have only used it once but I am satisfied with the quality of the work.  However, I would never wait 6 weeks again to get a lawnmower repaired.  Next time, I will find a local shop to do the job for me.

It's a very mixed experience. A lot of times, the help there has been knowledgeable or if I can't find the people I need to help me with something. The parking is always cluttered with carts. The inside of the store is the same way. I can't find it and I can't find the anybody who could help me to find it. I knew what I wanted and I explained it to two people. Neither one of them understood what I was looking for. They brought back someone but that person wasn't more knowledgeable. I walked to the service desk and talked to the representative there. I waited for 15 minutes and nobody came down so I just left.

We did most of our research on line before we went to the store,as Home Depot NEVER has anyone around to help. It's usually a chore to find someone to help.We do go early about 10 am and that may be the problem, but Iwould tell anyone to do your research and know basically what you want etc. That is why we scored it a "B" and average.

Although we chose to go with another cabinetmaker due to the difference in price, the process of working with the cabinetry department was very pleasant.  Susan is the main person in this department at the De Zavala store and she is wonderful.  She sat down with us to design the elements of the kitchen as was very patient with us (we ask a lot of detailed questions.)  We didn't go with the Kraftmaid cabinets due to the cost and the fact that we could not come to an agreement on which wood and stain to pick so we found a local cabinet maker.  I had concerns about going to Home Depot for cabinets but, after our experience, I would not hesitate to hire them to do this type of job.

We purchased a newfiberglass french door for our back patio that has the mini blinds encased in between two pieces of glass.  We had the door painted white at the manufacturer because they do not come painted and we would have had to paint ourselves.  The installer arrived promptly on time and proceeded to work.  He installed the door with minimal mess and cleaned up thoroughly.  He also installed the door knob and deadbolt which we purchased separately.  We've also had a storm door installed by Home Depot in the past and had a great experience as well.  Will use again.  We chose Home Depot over Lowes because the staff at the DeZavala store is San Antonio was very knowledgable.

I called a Home Depot store and they got me to one of their in-store people who sell cabinet refacing. That person got me to a call center that set my appointment. The call center people, whom I ended up dealing with several times, did not treat me like someone whose business they wanted. I felt like I was a delinquent bill payer calling a collection agency, rather than a potential customer (note, I live in an upper middle class neighborhood and have perfect credit, so it's not like they checked demographics and decided I was a scumbag--every call before and after they gathered my info was like this). They called me back twice to confirm my appointment. Then on the morning of my 11 a.m. appointment, they called at 8 a.m. and cancelled, saying that a local rep would call. They didn't, so I waited 3 days and called back and was told that the rep had canceled because I had told them my husband wouldn't be here, so I was considered a "one leg" appointment and that the rep had a huge territory and basically didn't have time for one legs. She said she wasn't supposed to tell me that, but she seemed to want me to really understand how they operated. To make a long story slightly less long, I explained that my husband had given me 100% authority on kitchen decorating and that it was a waste of his time to be here. She said that she could make one leg appointments on certain days, so she'd do that for me (my appt had been on a "one leg" day to start with, I learned, so I didn't have a lot of faith in the reschedule). Then it turned out that they have appointments as late as 8 p.m. when Hubby is here anyway, so she set a "two leg" appointment for 2 days later. The salesperson who came was nice, helpful, professional, and punctual, but she was definitely in pro sales mode, getting buy-ins from us on various points along the way and saying something like "what would it take for me to sell you this refacing today?" The quote was $12,000 for refacing only--no other changes. I had researched new cabinets and knew that I could get decent semi-custom (Kraftmaid, Shenandoah, etc.) cabinets plus removal, installation, and new counters for less than that, so suffice it to say that I did not go with refacing. Maybe refacing makes sense if you're not going with wood (she did say wood was more expensive) or you need financing, which they offer. Or maybe if you have really expensive high end cabinets with great interiors but you want to change the exterior, it would make sense, but it certainly was not for me. The wood did look fairly good, and it did seem like they could make the cabinet faces and doors look like new cabinets. The selection was fairly good, too. I also had Sears out, but they do only thermofoil (sp?), so Home Depot does have that advantage.
