Hicks Carpet One Floor & Home

Such a disappointing experience and still dealing with my messed up carpet. Had carpet installed on over 1,000 sq feet in our home. Everything was going well, Larry was nice when we went to the showroom but the trouble came after the installation. After Tony and Jesus were done I started to notice a bubble in the long hallway area upstairs. Called Larry, the guys came out and smoothed it out. After that one of the seams in the same area became more noticeable, there was also a gap along one of the edges. I could stick my fingers in there, the carpet did not touch the wall, all this in the same hallway area. Called Larry again, he came out, assured me it wasn't a big deal and the carpet could simply be stretched again. So Tony comes out again this time with a different guy because Jesus has quit for some reason (I wonder why). They tell us they are adding more adhesive of some type so the seams will go away. They were here for a few hours and I honestly thought, great this will be it. NOPE! After a couple of days the 2 seams in the hallway are way more visible because of this adhesive and I can also feel a hard line when I walk down the hall. It's basically like hardened glue, I can touch it and it's 1000% worse now. On top of that the edge where there was space between the carpet & the wall, is now in the opposite side. It's like they "stretched" it but just made it short on the other side instead. This has been a complete nightmare, it's caused so much stress in our home. Obviously this carpet wasn't cut the correct size and needed to be redone not have glue added. I didn't want to deal with Larry anymore after getting some backhanded sexist comments (now I see what a reviewer on another site was talking about), so we went to speak with Carlton. He came to look at our carpet and his solution is to install hard flooring not carpet because the seams will always be visible. But we have other seams, one in the same area that didn't look like garbage as well as seams in bedrooms that also don't look like garbage. So Hicks wants me to give them more $$$ so they can install a different type of flooring after further botching their own job. Give me a break! I wish I'd never walked in there or considered a CarpetOne in general. And it's not cheap carpet folks, so here I am currently stuck still paying for something that is an eyesore.

It took over a month to complete a job that was supposed to take a week. The contractors were frequently late. Company management did not come over to monitor the job. But, the worst part of the job was the quality of materials. After nearly three years, we are still having problems with the grout. They installed a grout they had not used before. It clearly should not be used in a shower. It immediately got black stains (not mold) all over it due to poor mixing. Hick's hired a contractor to re-tile the floor and that black staining did not return. However, the grout attracts pink mold (actually a type of bacteria) like crazy. I complained and Hick's provided a cleaner. The cleaner works (Aqua Mix), for the most part, but it has to be done very frequently - literally weekly! I've never had pink mold, or any other growth, for that matter, grow so quickly on grout. This never happened before and does not happen in the other house shower. The grout they installed attracts this mold and now requires constant maintenance.

At first, everything went well. The saleswoman and the owner were helpful and efficient. After tile was picked out, and I purchased a tub, fixtures, and toilets, the service was scheduled. It was to take 2 weeks. Carpet One hired contractors to install the tile. They were always late. The installation took about six weeks. After installation, mildew grew rapidly on the shower floor and walls. We frequently cleaned, but the mildew grew very fast and seemed to be uncleanable. I called to remedy the situation. Initially they sent the original install team. They tried to clean the tile and were unsuccessful. Hicks then had a professional tile/grout cleaner come to evaluate the situation. The professional cleaner would not clean the shower stating that the installation was poorly done and that the mildew was likely growing from underneath the shower floor. He recommended a complete remodel of the shower. As it stands now, mildew and pink staining are growing on the grout at an astounding rate. No cleaner can remove the mildew. We are awaiting replacement of at least the shower floor.

Hicks family was very good to work with for all aspects of carpet selection and installation.  We had a leak in bathroom so Hicks installed carpet in bedroom then came back to install in walk in closet.  we were very pleased with their professionalism and customer service.

We have a 2 story home and had about 80% of the carpet removed and put hardwood flooring in. Only 2 rooms have carpet left. They were dependable, reliable, courteous and neat. They were very respectable of my family. I expected it to be very traumatic. Having your house tore up and living in it isn't always fun and I dreaded it but they did such a beautiful job. They did everything they could to ensure our comfort while they did the job. I would definately use them again. I wished I would have had all the carpet taken out. I let 2 people in the house talk me into keeping carpet in one bedroom and the family area upstairs.

Great job.  Matched the rooms perfectly and love the finish!  Ruben and Joseph were awesome with suggestions and repairs to existing floors.  My floors looked brand new!

They did a very good job matching the halls with bedroom carpets. They were prompt and on time.

They sawed the whole bunch of it together once we removed the big furniture out and you couldn't tell it after it was done, it saved me a lot of money. They were flexible and they responded very quickly when we called and the thing we needed the most was that we needed it done quickly and they did.

The turnaround time from order to completion was a few days. We decided on some minor changes which were accomplished equally fast and without any hassle. The floors look great. This last year one of our dogs got locked in the master bedroom and tore up. Some of the carpet. They sent someone to repair the damaged carpet. You connot tell where the carpet was replaced.

The biggest complaint I had was that it took too long. They ordered the wrong tile the first time and ended up with the right tile the second time. We're going to have him come back and redo some of the tile. The owner of the company was pretty responsive. He came out and he wasn't really happy with the work that was done either. Apparently, the installers were no longer even with the company.

the work went well.  they lost an 'excellent' because of two things.  One, they promised us that the job would be done in one day.  when the workers arrived they rolled their eyes and said 'one day?? No way!'  It took two full days.  The other thing that went poorly was our work order included a cleaning of the floor under the old carpet before the new carpet was laid.  Well, the work order the guys had did not show that so they had to stop working to go find the equipment at the warehouse, but the one at the warehouse was broken, so ...   anyway, it all made them look disorganized.  the customer service people are very slick, but make sure you get things in writing!

When I first went in to get estimates, the sales staff was very friendly and responsive. I decided within a few days to go with them, and brought my money, which was when they told me an estimate of when we could expect the install. It was  a few days before install and I still hadn't heard from them, so I called, already concerned since they collected the entire amount up front. Eventually I was responded to, and a crew came out to remove the carpet and start prepping the floor. They brought the base boards, which I knew that I would need to paint as part of getting a slightly lower price, so I did paint those. However, as they crew started laying the flooring, they discovered that there was not enough, and it would take more than a week to even get the new flooring. We couldn't easily stay in the home during this process with 2 little girls, so we stayed at a family member's home. It ended up taking a total of 3 weeks. Not only that, but when they put the base boards on, they said the price we paid didn't cover them actually caulking between the base board and the wall, which would have left a gap, unsightly. We eventually had the crew fix that before they were done. Hicks, to this day, has never followed up, were completely unprofessional, and have never checked that the flooring was done satisfactorily. They never followed up to say how it should be taken care of, or anything. We will never use them again, and I am so disappointed. The flooring does look nice, but the professionalism was sorely lacking.

Was very satisfied with carpet layers and Carlton Hicks was very helpful.  I thought the price was a bit high for simply new carpet in 2 rooms and new pad in 3 rooms, but I did choose carpet and pad that was a bit higher than average, but not that much higher.  If I had it to do over, I would compare prices a bit more.  But anything close would go to Carlton Hicks because they are very nice to work with.

It worked out very well. The quality and professionalism I was very pleased with. I would use them again.

Hick's Carpet One has done tile work for me before and did such an excellent job, I decided to use them again to tile and carpet other areas of my house.  Omar's tile installation team is top-notch--very professional job, worked under tight schedule constraint, moved furniture carefully, and completed the job to my satisfaction.  I have had many compliments on their work and would use them again.  The only place for improvement is with clean-up, but I understand that tile work is a messy job.   Hick's Carpet One sent out a different team for the carpet installation.  Ruben's team was top-notch also!  They did a excellent job with moving furniture, removing old carpet and installing new.  I highly recommend them and would use their services again.  Thank you Carlton Hick's for an outstanding job!

I liked their website. They had a carpet that I liked, and they were close by. They were quick, courteous, and did a good job. It looks great. It just came out way better. I always looked at it as a piece of carpet, but when you see it finally installed, it looks really good. I was off-shore so I looked at the materials online. I picked the ones I liked. My girlfriend was at home, and she did the final picking, and it came out good.

We had used Hicks late last year for a home that we sold and just had them to install carpet into our new home.  As before, they were professional and did a great job once again.  They have yet to disappoint us.  Another job well done.

We used Hicks to install carpet into a home that we were selling and needed it done pretty quick.   Larry, the manager, was very charming and accommodating.  He made this happen for us within 3 days.  They did a very good job, they were on time, cleaned up all the old carpet and hauled it off for us.  They were professional and a pleasure to work with.  We will be using them in the future.
