Heartwood Tree Service & Solutions

I would beware of Heartwood Tree Service. We showed them what we wanted and they quoted quoted us a price ; but they did not complete the trimming and they did not paint all cuts they made ( this is extremely bad with oak trees due to oak wilt ). I was recently informed that George Potter ( person who originally ran the company ) is no longer there due to illness and now it is being managed by someone name Mike. The 2 man crew showed up on Dec 21 but no one came to show them what to do. We called the office to let them know work was not completed. After about 1 and half weeks i called office back to check status and was told they had notified Mike the manager. As of Jan 26 we had not been contacted by anyone. I just thought everyone should be aware of our experience and that it appears Heartwood Tree Service may be under new management.

George Potter an ISA Certified Arborist was on site while his crew worked in our front and back yards. I watched him on another site working with the crew, not just supervising, which is why I hired him. They trimmed branches that were scrapping our roof. They removed the dead branches in our trees. They removed some branches in the front yard allowing more sunlight to get to our grass The crew cleaned up after themselves. The back deck was cleaner after they left than it was before they arrived.

We called 3 companies with great reviews from Angie's List to get estimates. Heartwood Tree Service was by far the best price. I got the impression that George was knowledgeable and cared about providing proper care for our trees AND he let me know that he would be onsite for the entire job (unlike the other companies who just check in). I showed him what I needed done and he thought it would be a two day job (one of the other companies said it would be 2.5 days). George and his team arrived on the scheduled days and went right to work. They cleaned up all the oak trees we had discussed, removed a large dead tree trunk right near our fence, and cleared all the branches from our roof line. They finished the work we discussed early the second day and proceeded to clean up other trees in our yard. They removed a large tree that was adversely affecting a large oak (with our permission). Our daughter thought the large Heritage Oak in the backyard looked like a "magic" tree now because all the big, beautiful branches were visible. We were amazed at how much more open and clean it made our backyard feel. We were very pleased and felt like we got our money's worth. In addition, George cleaned up 3 large oleanders that a previous company had slightly butchered and, a final surprise, he removed an old, ugly stump that had been in our front yard for years. It was so nice to meet someone who cares so much about his work and goes above and beyond what's expected to provide an excellent service. Thank you, George! I'd definitely recommend Heartwood Tree Service and, as a matter of fact, I already have, three times!

I was very pleased with the work performed. Our home is located in a relatively new subdivision that had large oak trees. We deferred maintenance on the trees. After the work was complete we were amazed at how beautiful they were when properly manicured. The team did a great job at cleanup and did little extras that made the work a success.

Heartwood did a fine job in trimming trees some which were over house structure.

It went very well so I called them back to clean up the live oak trees in my front yard.

Mr. Potter gave us a written estimate describing the work and cost involved. We wanted an arborist who would be present at all times with his crew and he was. The job was above and beyond expectation...trees trimmed, cuttings picked up everyday, never a mess. He communicated with us daily. The job took approximately one full week. We were TOTALLY impressed with his knowledge professionalism and courteous service. Our shrubs and trees have new growth and looking healthy.

Left a message last week with lady who answered for George to call back to schedule appointment. Waited several days and by the weekend, still no call. Called again and left second message with same person for him to call back to schedule. She said he'd been "very busy". Here it is, about a week later and still no call. How long does it take for someone to call? About a minute.

I was not disappointed with the work. They did more than their job. They were really wonderful and cleaned up everything. He's very good to his workers and he was very good to me. The price was very reasonable. It was the best price of anyone I had asked! They're the best I've ever had and I've already recommended them to friends and family. What I love most of all is that all the workers were working together as a team the whole team! I would not ask anyone else to do my trees from now on.

on time arrived at house at 8am. completed all work that was asked and cleaned up all branches/moss etc. george uses a 3 man crew  plus himself and works with his crew. all are very hard workers.

Mr. Potter and his crew were outstanding.  They did the work in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering that they encountered an unforeseen problem when they got to the base of the tree.  Mr. Potter was very gracious and would not accept any additional payment for the extra work they had to do to finish cutting down the tree.  He was most professional and knowledgeable and gave us advice on other trees on our property.   His price was very reasonable.  We would highly recommend him and will be calling upon him and his company in the future to help us with our trees.

George, the owner and arborist, came to estimate the time he and his crew would take to do the trees we pointed out as needing trimming. He told us he charges by the day for himself (yes, he works as hard as his crew, alongside of them) and three climbers (who thankfully used ropes) plus another who helped put the trimmings in the chipper. They raked the lawn clean every day. We thought it would take 4 days to do the main trees around the house, but they got a lot more done than we expected in that time. We decided to ask him to work one more day to do the rest of the nearby trees that we hadn't included originally. The trees looked SO GOOD we couldn't stop! We have 5 acres and a lot of trees, so we had to draw the line somewhere or he would be here yet. We wanted him to leave the mulch (two truckloads) for our garden but he would have taken it away if we preferred him to do so. We are completely delighted by the way our trees look and by the great service we received from Heartwood Tree Service.

1. I really appreciated that the certified arborist stayed with his crew through the whole process and made sure I was happy with the results.

What a difference!   Mr. Potter is a certified arborist.  Definitely knows what he and his crew are doing.  They have a chipper and cleaned up every limb and leaf.  They sealed every cut regardless of the size.  I found Heartwood through Angie's list and I would definitely use them again. 

Everything went very well. George came out within a day to look at the job. We received the estimate promptly. He managed to work us into his schedule sooner than we expected which we appreciated. Being a certified arborist and working along with his crew were the main reasons we called his company. The trees look great, he gave us some good information and all the debris was cleaned up. All in all a very good experience with his company.

I was very impressed with this company.  I was looking for a company with a certified arborist, and this owner is.  He came out quickly after I called to request a quote and seemed extremely knowledgeable.  I also really like that he personally participates/supervises in all jobs performed -- so you know your trees will be taken care of appropriately.  He seemed to have a real passion for what he did.  However, we ultimately did not go with this company because we chose to reduce the scope of our work -- only having one of our trees trimmed.  The owner had explained to me that because he personally supervises all jobs, it means that he really only schedules jobs as half-day or full-day jobs -- there isn't really a lower price point.  So, when my job turned into a less-than-half-day job, we couldn't justify the cost of this company.  However, if I ever needed more extensive tree work, this would be the first company I'd call.

It went very well. The crew arrived early and George arrived shortly after. They started the work promptly and worked very efficiently. The job only took about 3 hours , which was impressive for the amount of work done. They cleaned and picked everything up and were very professional. Great job! They estimate was the best I received out of 4 others I spoke to. Definitely will use again in the future. I picked them from Angie's list. George came out quickly to do the estimate and scheduled me in quickly.

Mr. Potter was extremely professional. He came out and gave us a bid quickly. We contacted several companies for bids as we knew this was a big job and we wanted to make sure we got it done right and at a fair price. Of all the bids we received we felt the most comfortable with Heartwood Tree Service. They were by far the most professional. Their price was fair and the work they did was perfect. We had serveral periods of rain and Mr. Potter called us to keep us updated on the scheduling of our job. The day of our job Mr. Potter showed up with 2 crews and knocked out our job in 1 day...we were amazed! Even our neighbors were amazed. I would definitley recommend them and will use them again the next time we need tree service.

Great service and very professional.

We were very pleased with the service provided by the owner George and his crew. He went over each tree with us, describing how to maintain its health. The crew trimmed branches that were encroaching on our house, especially the roof. They removed a "trash" tree that was too close to the house and was interfering with the growth of a more valuable tree. They trimmed each tree's branches to allow for proper growth, and to allow sunlight to grass and landscape. About a year later, George came out to trim a branch that was scraping the roof during a particularly windy period. He did not charge us for this visit. Overall, we were completely pleased with Heartwood's services and will rely upon them for future care of our trees. In addition, we have referred them to several friends and neighbors.
