Initially, everything went well. The areas seemed to work great. After six months the boards in one area came loose. There is a loud creak when you walk over them. I have tried for over a year to get them out to repair that, and replace another board, They have told me repeatedly that they will  schedule me, but they can never find the time. First contact was October 31, 2014. There are many good repair companies out there. Don't waste your time with a company that won't follow up
we should be able to send someone this week Dan KlobedansHammonds Wood Floors, Inc. Nov 17, 2014.

I have an old home and have oak hardwood floors in every room but the breakfast room and kitchen.  I originally contacted Hammonds for an estimate to install oak hardwoods in those two rooms.  Jared recommended refinishing the pine to match the oak.  I was hesitant at first, but the finished product is absolutely gorgeous.  Everyone at Hammond's was professional and punctual.  They answered my endless list of questions and were very pleasant to deal with.  I love my new floors and will hire them again next year to buff up the hardwoods in the rest of the house.

Great estimate & customer service by Marty Hammond. First group could not get the stain to match other floors in house. Several groups of workers managed to get close-that said-the floors look great.

I think they're fantastic. Their price is very reasonable for the work that they did. They were courteous, neat and clean. They're all the things that I wanted in a contractor. They showed up when they said they're going to. They did what they said they were going to do for a price that they said they're going to do it. They certainly weren't the cheapest but that's okay. It was a great value.

Despite all of the raving reviews of Hammond's Flooring, as well as assurances from others about how incredible they are, my experience was horrible.
We purchased two 1920s bungalows on the same property in a historic district this past summer, and Hammond's was the company the previous owner of the houses had chosen to restore the floors.
The properties were still under renovation when we put them under contract, but we were assured that the flooring, as well as the other items in the homes would be covered under a one-year warranty.  Unfortunately, this has applied to all aspects of the homes, "EXCEPT" for the flooring.
Prior to closing, I had actually personally met with and discussed some flooring issues
with Mr. Hammond directly, while we walked the property with the previous owner.  Both Mr. Hammond, and the previous owner assured me that the problems were very minor and could easily be fixed.  The issues included: (1) holes in the flooring that went straight through to the insulation,(2)  missing pieces of boards, (3) burnt pieces of boards that weren't replaced, (4) sharp, splintered areas, and (5) rotted areas.  After our walk-through, we agreed that I would call him to set up a time to work on the warranty work after closing, because they were extremely busy.  He informed me that warranty work had to be scheduled around the other
projects currently underway, and suggested I call in a month or so (October/November).
So, when I called him in November, he said that he was happy to have a team come out to assess the areas of concern, but that he would have to charge me. He denied ever saying that any of the work would be covered under warranty, and went on to say that the previous owner "wanted" to leave the house that way.
Since I was confused at first, I reminded him of our walk through the house, and that he had agreed with me on all accounts, as did the former owner, who is widely known for his quality renovations.  Again, Mr. Hammond said, "no," he didn't remember, and that it wasn't warranty work.
At this point, I asked him why he had asked me to wait until Oct/Nov to call and schedule the work to be done?  He then became unprofessional and argumentative, at which time I decided to end the conversation.
I have reviewed quite a few contractors on Angie's List, and I find it unfortunate to have to submit a review like this, but I think it is a huge 'red flag' that they denied their initial warranty, and that other possible clients should be aware of this practice.
I definitely feel taken advantage of, and have had to pay another contractor to repair all of the damaged areas in the house.

Tim Valder made an appointment within a week of my wanting one and he answered every one of my questions.  He was professional and if I had any slight complaint, it would be that he did not keep me abreast of the progress of the project that was in a home where I did not live.  The technicians who did the sanding, staining, and top coat were extremely pleasant, professional, and helpful in selecting a stain.  Val was particularly good.  My floors look amazing especially with a satin finish as is the current trend.  Thanks, Hammonds

They worked quickly and did a great job in all areas, including around curved areas to get a great fit.  They cleaned up and hauled off everything they pulled out, and clean up well after the job was done.  They aren't the cheapest flooring company but I feel like I got what I paid for.

In October 2008 we had a well known flooring company here in San Antonio, install running strand Bamboo floors.......the company used a sub-contractor for their install services and the floors showed signs of cupping and darkening of the planks as early as the Spring of 2009. Negotiated with this company from Spring 2009 thru December 2010 to no resolution and had to file suit as our last resort.......the issue was negotiated and then we hired Hammonds Wood Floors to come and remove and replace the damaged flooring.
They have their own installers...no subs....and the foundation was tested for moisture/leaks until they were convinced that there were no issues involved except for those removed planks that showed signs of mold and moisture damage.   NO issues with our foundation!.....Hickory flooring was installed and we could not be happier with using Marty Hammonds and his company.
These are good Christian people and the gentleman that finished our floor .......he told us "Thank you for allowing me to install this floor and God Bless."
Amazing.  I can't say enough good things regarding this company and their professional attitudes and business. Quality people!!  I would use them again and recommend them highly.

It was ok. They certainly tried to fix any issues; they were open to doing that. I wasn’t real pleased with the first covering; they had to come back and do some things.  They really had tried to match the old hardwood to what we already put down. I also wasn't real happy with the stain because it didn't take very well. The did all of the varnish and cutting on site. I guess they did as good as they could.

We searched for months to find a quality wood floor company to put in new hardwood floors for our home.  Hammonds made us three samples to try and give us examples of the different kinds of mesquite and stain they can do.  My husband wanted mesquite and I dreamed of American Cherry, but we went with a select mesquite and love them!  They are so beautiful.  It is a process and took almost three weeks from start to finish.  It was worth the headache and cost for the final product that will last for ages.

It went bad from start to finish. I have asked to talk to the owner about the $650.00 invoice and all I get are calls from the accounting department demanding payment. I do not recommend using this company. What is sad, is they used to be the best in town.
Response from HAMMONDS WOOD FLOORS
"Somehow your project must have slipped through our quality control without proper attention. Were regarded as the best in town because we make things right when there is a problem. Immediately we called to follow up on completion and our team was met with verbal hostility and as a result were unable to complete any quality control measures. If you would call us back we will replace or repair the issues at our cost. Members please read on to our other ratings as this is an isolated incident."

The installation went great and on schedule. Mr. Hammonds never tried to underestimate the time needed to install the floor, including the extra work to remove the improperly installed oak. He and his crew at all times were professional and competent. Mr. Hammond was patient and explained all aspects of the installation, the mastic or glue used in the installation, and the specific properties of the wood. He helped us make lemonade out of a lemon. I recommend without hesitation Hammonds Floors.

I have nothing but great things to say about this company they were professional and on time. There were a few days when the weather was rainy and they called to explain that the floor would not dry as well if they stained it on those days so there were a few delays, however they were legitimate and the company communicated with me. They scheduled a walk thru after the foreman had already done several of his own so there were no issues for me to be concerned about. Jeff explained to me how to clean the floor to avoid getting a dull appearance and no he did not suggest that I buy products only his company sold. All in all this is exactly what I expect from a company when I hire them. Excellent job.

Response from HAMMONDS WOOD FLOORS
"We were on two large jobs months prior to contracting with the member. At the time we agreed on a schedule there was an opening to do her job. Due to an uexpected change in the contractor's schedule, these previous jobs required additional work and many finishers on a very tight time frame for a customer move in date. When this became evident we found it impossible to meet the member's time schedule. We could have finished her job with a little more time. In a service oriented business such as ours, we juggle 20 to 30 jobs at a time with varying schedules and durations. We try to blend these together to be efficient and timely, but, some customers dictate changes that leave conditions beyond our control. The installation we completed for the member was done in a professional manner with no complaint. She was only charged for the work performed. I can understand the member's disappointment and I apologize to her for the change. However, we are known for taking very good care of our customers and make every effort to meet our deadlines."

The sales representative gave this job to one of his floor installers to handle after hours, since it was a small job. This saved me money, and I felt secure knowing the manager had scheduled the job and was sending a qualified installer. James came two or three nights after hours, removed the damaged flooring, and installed the new hardwoods. I made a small change to the area, and James was available to come out one more evening to do the final remaining work.
