Green Home Improvements
About us
With over 20 years of experience in the industry, our management and owners came together in 2009 to create a dynamic company dedicated to customer satisfaction. As industry pros, they had seen too many corners cut and customer service left by the wayside, and were determined to create a company that understood the value of quality, service, environmental awareness and professional accountability. Now, Green Home Improvements offers its customers a company that looks more at the needs of the customer than the bottom line for the company, and recognizes that the decisions we make at home also impact the world around us. We offer free energy analysis consultations and helpful tips to lower utility costs, increase comfort, and help ensure the protection of our environment for generations to come. Located in San Antonio, Texas, we serve the San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi and Killeen areas. Active in the community, Green Home Improvements has participated in charity drives such as the Family Services Association holiday gift drive, and environmental events like Fiesta Earth Day. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau, National Association of Home Builders, Texas Association of Builders, Greater San Antonio Builder's Association, Build San Antonio Green, and San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. We are a CPS Energy certified contractor, allowing us to extend rebates to our customers for approved energy efficiency projects.

I gave a "B' on price because, though the price was reasonable, I think they would have lowered the price if I haggled more. (They did not give me their BEST price, just a good price)
Overall install was without issue and fast. The windows look fine and fit well.
Update 4 Nov 2013
I had GHI over again to bid other windows... The bid was about $1k per window. I tried to talk them down but the would have any of it even with me being a repeat customer. now you know
+/-
1. Cabinetry - excellent workmanship, later we discovered the cabinets seem to only have 1 or 2 layers of stain and sealer as they scratch very easily.
2. Carpenter - Excellent and fast, made sure all surfaces were level, (he put in the custom made cabinets), moulding looks excellent, made sure he did not cut any extra wood out of our ceiling than was absolutely necessary. He was good at thinking ahead.
3. Painting - well done, but left spots of green paint on cabinets and floors that was not cleaned up completely.
4. Engineered Wood Flooring - overall installation was very good, the concrete base floor was sanded to remove prior cement from floor tile that was removed. There were a couple of very small places where the flooring did not quite meet one wall area. I fixed this after the job was completed by using wood putty.
5. Granite countertops and island top - this was a problem area. Green Homes said the granite was dropped and delivery would be delayed. I question the quality of the granite or the sanding and sealing done on the granite placed on the window ledges. To me it looked rough on the farthest out areas with hazy patches that looked like dust. On the countertops some sections of the granite have a pinkish tone which was not in the sample we saw. The granite for the island was beautiful with the coloring and finish we had expected for all the countertops and window ledges.
6. Installation of sink & faucets - this was problematic for some reason.
7. Measurements - measurements taken for the cabinets were wrong, so some cabinet sizes were incorrect. Also no
space allowances were made for opening cabinets located near walls. The onsite foreman was very good at fixing a variety of problems. The cabinet that was made for our combination microwave and oven unit was so poorly measured that once on site, the cabinet was approx. 4 inches too wide plus another 10-12 inch drawer was built underneath it to put the microwave/oven unit at the proper usable height.
When this microwave/oven sizing problem came up we finally called the company president to get the job completed. The president did come to our house. He offered to remove and redo some of the cabinetry that was made incorrectly, however, after dealing with the company for 3 months we were worn out and wanted Green Homes out of our house so we declined the offer on the two cabinets. No offer was made to replace the granite on the window ledges. In fact the president insisted that granite was fine. After I have cleaned, polished and buffed the window ledges, to me the granite remains to looking dusty or not well finished.
There is more that could be written regarding Green Homes remodeling abilities suffice to say I have written enough for a person to make a decision regarding the use of Green Homes for indoor remodeling. As for us, we will not be using them again.
