FINISHING CONCEPTS LTD

The building process went well, builder was easy to work with, very pleasing, patient and helpful. However, we paid for high quality and we ended up with cheap details. The wood in our closets has separated 1/4 of an inch, the white paint yellowed, there were some areas on the walls that were not paint-finished, they used flat paint when I requested semi-gloss, they left dents and holes on walls untouched, sheetrock has separated from wood beams and is peeling, and all our cabinetry was overpainted, at least 10 coats of paint without sanding, so all joints have cracked, the paint is peeling and it has yellowed to a mustard shade of yellow. Contractor charged us a fortune but contracted cheap labor. We contacter her, she is willing to touch up all that is wrong, but we are afraid it will be another cheap touch up-get-it-over-for-now kind of thing and we will again have the same problem within days. We gave them many oportunities before to get it done right, and it was the same thing. She refused to have the walls re-painted. We had to contract a professional cabinet painter who is very expensive but is finally doing the work to our expectations. True Colors painters were a complete nightmare. They ruined our house, we have been so embarrassed to have friends over because of the terrible appearance of the finishes. All crowm molding and baseboards, windows, doors, everything has cracked and separated, the stairs were completely destroyed, they even painted over their blue tape which in turn wrinkled and it can be seen through the paint on the walls. The new painters have worked triple efforts to sand everything and make it right. She is a good builder, a very nice person, but woodwork was not carefully supervised, nothing was sanded, just painted over, on thick layers of dust. I hope everybody who reads this is careful NOT to use True Colors as their painters. The head painter is Rudy Ortega. It seems he uses all Mexican crew with very low pay, and asks nothing of them, just to paint and move on. He kept telling us "he was doing EVERYTHING to please us" but it was just an act, he even said we were "the only ones" where he had experienced problems, that everything he paints is always perfect. Well, we have pictures of his perfection. Painters placed their cans of paint on freshly painted cabinets, leaving marks and dents, they scratched walls with their ladders and cans of paint, they never protected anything, so along their path, all they left was destruction. The building manager was 27 years old and it is beyond us why would anybody place someone with no experience to supervise our house, you would think that for a million and a half PLUS job, one would end up wiht perfection. He managed to scratch our Viking cooktop everywhere, broke the sconces in our powder room and installed them as such!!! And the list goes on. The end was a nightmare. Along the way we lost a few items which they believed we would not notice, but we were so fed up with everybody we just wanted them gone. We had hoped the builder would say she would pay for all we are having done, but no, we are on our own because she offered to "fix it" so that covers her back sad to say. But it doesn't cover her reputation as a good finisher. It is going to take us a year to have it all repaired.
