The date and price above are only approximate, since the job was performed over at least  twelve yeas ago and the insurance company had paid for some of it  The job apparently went well, until recently when we had to do another underground plumbing job. That's when we discovered and believed that strong support system for the underground plumbing (as required by the contract) was not provided for. 
The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners had reviewed our complaint. The Field Investigator consequently issued a Notice of Non-Compliance to E. L. Smith and under additional review by the Board's Enforcement Committee, an Administrative Penalty was assessed to Mr. Smith.
During this whole process, Mr. Smith had denied any responsibility for our plumbing problem.   

They no longer do this procedure and no one who was there could give me any information about why? No employees that were there had been there long enough to know anything much at all. 
Obviously I will not use them, but had I spoken with someone more knowledgable I may have gotten a quote to repipe my house.

Provider was contacted through my homeowners insurance as I had a leak on Christmas day. I was not contacted by E.L.Smith until following Monday 30 Dec. was told they could not come out till 6 Jan due to the holidays. When they came out the plumbers destroyed my drywall ( still not repaired ) and base molding. The 2 plumbers found the leak and repaired it, they were here approx. 90 minutes. The plumber recommended that I have a epoxy coating or a repipe as I have pinhole leaks in my copper pipes. The plumbers told me Mr. Smith would come out personally to give me a repipe estimate. Mr. Smith showed up 3 days later to give me a estimate for repipe and I told him I would review it with my wife. Approx.4 days later I received a bill from E.L. Smith for $375 for a leak repair and testing. I contacted my insurance company and they told me they also got a bill for $1200. I contacted E.L. Smith plumbing and inquired about the bill and I was told that I was responsible for the copper tubing that they replaced (approx 6 inches) . I asked isn't that a little steep for a repair? I was told that I was charged travel time + flux,fittings use of torch etc. I also asked what was the $1200 charge to my insurance company? I was told that was testing of my water pipes, that they NEVER performed. When I later contacted Mr. Smith I was told by him that they do it all the time and that my insurance company is easy. I recommend that you run as far away from E.L.Smith Plumbing as you can!

The were on time and extremely accommodating when the electricity and water were turned off in the middle of their work. The team explained their process, showed me the problem areas, and provided an estimate of repairs in a timely manner. The crew was professional and the office staff was cordial and a pleasure. I would highly recommend E.L. Smith for your plumbing problems.

I noticed the old water heater leaking (on a Friday night, of course). I called late at night; the plumber called back, told me how to secure everything for the night, and said he would be back on Saturday morning. He came right on time or maybe a bit early, diagnosed a bad water heater and replaced it with a new one, all on Saturday morning before noon. I couldn't be happier.

The company sent two plumbers for this simple job, and charged us the rate for a two-man crew. There was no reason for the second plumber, who mostly just stood around. $184 for a repair that took less than 10 minutes seems excessive.

We have used EL Smith for 30 years everything from HVAC to plumbing. They are professional, reasonably priced, timely, and always on time. Great company.

Serviceman was very nice and explained everything he saw. Gave suggestion of a less expensive fix that solved our problem. Very pleased with service. Would use them again.

E.L. Smith is the only company we use for plumbing problems and repairs. Our house is 60 years old so there is always some problem with the plumbing, etc. When we call the company, they respond very quickly to our needs.

They did a good job. I believe the service technician's name was Robert did the work for us. He was very knowledgeable.

My husband and I had problems with clogging kitchen drain for a couple of years. We had some major sewer drain work done by another good contractor a few years ago so we had called them for an estimate to fix the kitchen drain. Their bid was a bit high so we did not pursue. In the Spring of 2010, the drain was backed-up pretty badly. We were referred to E.L. Smith so we had them provide us an estimate for replacing the kitchen drain which had major root intrusion. We were satisfied with the estimate and they started promptly in a few days. The most difficult part is the digging of the trench to get to the broken lines. The work these gentlemen did was exceptional. They took pictures before and after the work was done. We are very satisfied with this company. We would use them again and recommend to friends and family.

It all went well from the first phone call to the end.

They are very responsive. They do the work quickly and effectively. He also fixed a gas starter for me on my fireplace.

They were very good, prompt and took care of the problem.
