DS Remodeling

They lacked communication from the start. They came to the house on 05/12 and said they could start work on Thursday, 05/15 and finish within a week by Thursday, 05/22. The agreement was removal of popcorn ceiling, texture application, painting of the ceiling, and clean up for $3,000. We agreed to pay $700 to start , $2000 when texture was ready, and $300 when the work was completed. They began work on 05/15 and when we went to the house that evening, we saw they left our back door wide open with all of the lights on inside the house, which is a major security risk as anyone would have been able to break into our house. We advised them of this issue via text and paid them a deposit of $700 on 05/16. They worked 05/16 and requested $2,000 on 05/17 stating they would apply texture the same day at 3:30pm. We submitted another deposit of $2,000, as requested, on 05/17 but no more work was ever completed, nor has any work been done since. On 05/23 (one day past the deadline) we reached out to them to follow up and they told us they needed more time and that the project would be completed 05/28. We granted the extension and when nothing was done on 05/27 we messaged them again to confirm they would be done on 05/28, expressing our concern over the delay as we have to move in to the house and they responded “05/29”. We messaged them on 05/28 and 05/29 expressing further concern over the fact that still nothing had been done and they responded on 05/29 advising they needed another week promising to finish by 06/05. We advised them that they needed to be done by Monday 06/02 or we would have to find someone else. They did not respond to that message on 05/29, nor did they respond to our messages sent on 06/02, 06/03, 06/04. We called them on 06/04 and the calls went straight to voicemail so we called them from another phone number and they picked up advising the project would be completed 06/05. The project was not completed on 06/05 and they have not responded to any messages or calls since the phone call on 06/04. To date, no additional work was completed after 05/16. They still have a key to our house and have not responded to our request for them to return the key and give us a refund.

My business partner and I drove approximately 2.5 hours to meet with DS Remodeling at an out-of-town investment property. While there, we intended to work on some additional projects. DS Remodeling was hired to replace a small piece of drywall, float, tape, texture to match the existing wall, and to paint the installed area on the property. The property is less than 5 years old. Our additional projects began winding down in the afternoon with no sign of DS Remodeling. Eventually, I sent a text to them asking if they were still coming out to the property. Later that day, DS responded that they needed to reschedule. Ultimately, they came out to the project 2 or 3 days later, then sent me a picture of their finished work. The drywall was replaced but the texture didn’t match the existing wall. When I asked about the texture mismatch, they essentially told me they couldn’t match the existing texture. I was upset and asked them to reduce the price due to having to hire another contractor. They reduced the price by $100, so ultimately, I paid $400 to have approximately a 4x3 piece of drywall replaced, then will have to pay another contractor $350 to have the drywall properly textured and painted again. Lastly, paying DS Remodeling through Cash App was a nightmare. I couldn’t locate the Cash App name DS Remodeling provided to me, so a personal account owned by DS Remodeling’s wife was used to resolve the balance because he didn’t want me to send a check. We won’t do business with this company in the future.

Went great very professional

Repairman was prompt and did a fair job on Day #1 installing and painting a new 2'x2' drywall section to cover a hole left by a plumber. The texture was not a close match to the existing wall but we waived that discrepancy since the repair work was a wall on the inside of a closet. What we did not like was the repairman missed THREE follow-up appointments to complete the reinstallation of a shelf bracket (needed to wait until new drywall dried). He never called or texted to say he'd could not come for the first scheduled follow-up on Day #2. On Day #3 he finally texted a second request to move the follow-up appointment to the morning of Day #4. On Day #4 he missed the morning appointment too but did shortly afterwards texted a third request to come that afternoon. He later texted he could not make the time of his 3rd requested appointment either. I found someone else to install the shelving bracket and advised him to consider the partial payment that gave him on Day #1 as final and full payment for his services rendered.

Daniel was very punctual and in the parking lot a couple of minutes prior to the agreed upon time and I asked him to just do a rush job for a place that I was moving out of that needs to be painted anyways and I was very surprised at the aesthetics of the final product and he finished in a very timely fashion so I can continue my day
