Words cannot describe how happy we are with our deck, arbor and stairs.  The addition to our home is truly a work of art.  Bill was on top of the project from start to finish.  He worked with us extensively in the design phase of the project to be certain that he understood our needs and ideas.  He provided three options at three different price points from which we chose.  Once the project got underway, Gary made our dream a reality.  He is the most accomplished carpenter I have ever encountered.  He may more aptly be described as an artist.  The finished product is truly unique and utterly amazing.  I would hire them again and again and recommend them to anyone who will listen.

Bill and Claudia were very sensitive to our needs. I had several other shady people come out for estimates and felt like I was being taken advantage of. Bill is a straight shooter, he told me the $ would be median to high. They did excellent work in a timely manner and made me feel like I was a valued client. They were subs for a general landscape contractor.  Arrived on time and cleaned up when finished.  Work was of the highest quality.

We contacted Covenant to get an estimate for a new deck, but in the course of the discussion about maintenance needed for a wooden deck, Bill (the owner) suggested a paver patio instead.  He met with us to help pick pavers, designed the arbor roof, and provided practical improvements to our original design to come up with a great plan.  We formerly had an unattractive, little used concrete slab with fiberglass roof that trapped heat; now have a beautiful patio that is larger, prettier, and more comfortable.  The crew was professional and friendly, and got the job done in good time.

Bill Johnson and Gary Short made me feel like part of the family.  From the moment I talked with Bill on the phone until Gary finished the project, I was treated with professionalism, amazing customer service, and a friendly smile.  The attention to detail is outstanding.  I was left with an amazing deck that will last for many years to come.  I highly recommend this company and will use them again when my next project arises.

Amazing! During the entire process, from design to final construction, Covenant was professional, prompt, and delivered a first-class finished product. When issues arose during construction regarding the Treehouse design, they were promptly addressed and resolved to our complete satisfaction !!

The work was done on time and at estimated cost. The finished deck is beautiful and well constructed. The fact that Gary was able to demolish and construct a deck in 2 1/2 days was amazing. All went well.  From the initial meeting, to having plans drawn up, the approval process, and the demolition...Bill kept us informed every step of the way.  There were no surprises about who would be in our backyard, when, or for what reason.  The construction of the new deck went very smoothly.  Gary, the deck and arbor genius, was very willing to take time to talk with us about how the construction process would go and he was also very kind to field any questions or concerns that my husband or I had.  In the end, we had a custom dream deck, specific to our wants and needs, that we've got so much use out of.  We've spent more time outside on the deck and in our back yard these past 2.5 months than we have the 5 years we've owned the house!

Bill came out to house to look at a recently finished renovation and came up with a great solution to the drop off from back door to ground level. The designs he put together were both wonderful - he listened to our desire to create a space that was functional, fit the space appropriately and within our budget. There were a few delays during the construction of the paver patio and arbor; however, they were not the fault of Covenant - rain and the landscaper delayed the project. Covenant's portion of the backyard was finished in a timely manner, his team was professional and courtesy, and the end result was exactly what we pictured. I would recommend their services to anyone interested in a great design, high quality work at appropriate prices.

Our first experience with Bill and Gary was when we commissioned them to build our outdoor deck about 2 years ago. Bill came up with unique design that incorporated all the detail we wanted including a bridge walkway. Gary, the builder, then took it further by listening to my on-the-spot suggestions to incorporate patterns that reflected my Indian heritage. Both men displayed extreme courtesy and clearly understood what customer service means.
Not surprisingly, when it came time to cover the deck with a pergola, we turned to Covenant and Bill Johnson again. As we have come to expect, the work was completed in a timely manner, and to our expectations. Bill even suggested some new materials to address the rather unique problem solving the project required. In fact, problem solving is one of their particular strengths. 
We know when it comes time for an addition or similar project, we will call on Bill Johnson and Covenant again. We recommend them and strongly endorse their services for all outdoor projects.

From the start, the owners were responsive and super pleasant people to work with, punctual and focused on assessing my wants, needs, and preferences before the design work even began. Then, they followed up with two rounds of design options. We made changes together, with my budget in mind. Ended up with a design that was clever, creative and inviting. I didn't want the same old square, flat deck. The work started very soon and the actual work leader, craftsman, was superb. He was on time, thorough, made sure I had any question answered. His work was excellent quality and workmanship. My deck and pergola were finished perfectly and in shorter time that I had expected. It was an awesome experience all around and the end result exceeded my expectations!!

They were actually recommended by somebody that my husband works with. Then we went on Angie’s List and checked them out and they were there. They did a nice job and it looks really good. It is beautiful and made the biggest difference in our backyard. Bill was really great to work with.

We were pleased with the work that he did. We liked the design and suggestions. It took quite a while to do all of this work; probably a couple of months. My husband took care of of most the communication with the providers.

The overall experience went very well.  After going over the final plans and making sure everything looked good, work begun.  Our carpenter, Gary was amazing.  He knew exactly what he was doing and offered suggestions on how to make the structure even more appealing.  His attention to detail was most impressive.  I was blown away when the final structures were completed.

"After having experienced a number of disappointing experiences with other contractors during the past 3 years, it was gratifying and a total pleasure working with Bob, Bill and Gary, three guys who know the meaning of "customer service.  Bob called ahead and showed up when promised to do the estimate, made a special trip deliver a box of samples since the full range of available materials and kept me advised of the progress of the order.  Gary, who actually did the work was a true craftsman and professional, was more of a perfectionist than I am, cleaned up completely each day that it required to do the job (3 ) and ensured that I was completely happy with the result.  Since I knew pretty much what I wanted from the beginning, no significant changes were necessary and the two little "touches" that I did mention were made in a cooperative and willing attitude. All three of the individuals I worked with were personable, easy to talk  and  took as much pride in the finished product as if it was being done for themselves.  And although I believe this may have been the first time they worked with AZEK material (I was familiar with it), they read and met or exceeded the manufacturer's specifications for installation. 
The price was not the lowest, and in fact was the highest bid I received.  But the result and the experience was completely worth it.  I would recommend Covenent to anyone and they would be my first choice for any and every future project I may consider.  Just wish that I had known about them sooner.

He asked questions about price and size, and we should at that point have said that we absolutely wanted the patio to match the existing surface area. He sent back plans a few days later but did not point out that he had reduced the size of the deck to the cover drip line. His plan showed thirteen feet of depth when the old patio was about eighteen. The misunderstanding surfaced after we accepted the bid and the demo was finished. The aggregate did not cover the area we expected. Further conversation and negotiation proved that our error was not to have measured the thirteen feet proposal against the existing surface area covered. The price was $1,800 higher than we originally anticipated, but that did not inconvenience us. The misunderstanding was somewhat irritating.
Overall, the time it took (2 weeks) was reasonable. The workers were respectful, but they used and scratched up our wheelbarrow by mistake. The owner did replace the tool at his own expense. The foreman made some suggestions about landscaping around the patio, which we have followed (see pictures). The look is very attractive and the footing is excellent--the pavers are millimeter perfect in placement and the setting of the pavers somewhat artistic. The pictures show only the patio, not what we will be putting on it. I give Bill an overall "B" because I am a schoolteacher and for me, a "B" is a very good grade. Only issue was communication.

The entire job was accomplished in about ten days by a single outstanding contractor with oversight by Bill Johnson. This included removing existing flagstone steps and landing. All work was very satifactory and qualtiy was never sacrificed for schedule. In addition they assisted with recommending and scheduling other contractors to repair the flagstone patio, stain the new deck and seal the flagstone partio.
