Clean Up With Michelle

Michelle did an average job of cleaning.  It was about what I could do while watching three children at the same time.  The house looked fairly clean when I returned home.  She dusted... somewhat.  She did not dust our entertainment center around the television, which is covered in dust.  She dusted the ceiling fan in the living room but did not dust the ceiling fans, which needed it badly, in any of the bedrooms.  She did dust the blinds.  When you come to our front door, the door mat is obviously covered in dirt. She didn't touch it.  Our back door is covered in kids' handprints and smears of dirt.  A soapy washcloth would have cleaned it. She didn't clean it all.  She moved our rugs to mop, but did not put them back in place.  The bathroom mirror was not cleaned; it still has toothpaste on it.  She wiped things down, mopped, made the beds, and picked up the kids' rooms. What she did clean was adequate.  However, she did not do 75% of the things that motivated us to hire a cleaning service.    
The costs seemed reasonable when I hired her service, but it turned out to be very expensive for what we got.  She explained that for our four bedroom home, it would be $175 for the first visit and $150 thereafter if she returned.  When I asked how many hours of cleaning this covered, she said it was until the house was cleaned, not by the hour.  Knowing how long it should take to clean a four bedroom home, this sounded like a good deal.  As it turns out, only one person came to clean the home and she worked only 3 1/2 hours.  What I typically found of cleaning companies on Angies List was $30-$35 per hour and involved a team of cleaners, especially for the first visit.  Michelle's service turned out to be $50 per hour and she did not do a good job.  In the end, Michelle's cleaning service is by far the most expensive I found on Angies list.

The cleaning crew included Michelle, her daughter, and her nephew.  My house wasn't dirty and I just wanted someone that would give it a good deep cleaning.  I was very disappointed in the quality of the work that I paid for.  

She failed to clean all the ceiling fans, she failed to clean doors and the molding around them, she didn't vacuum under furniture,  she failed to dust and polish all the furniture (dining room table was polished but the chairs weren't touched).  I was told she would clean the top of the refrigerator but it wasn't touched.  I found several areas that were not dusted/cleaned at all.  I had the feeling she was trying to rush and get out as soon as possible.

She has come here with her crew several times.  Three people come out usually.  They are fast and very professional.  They do a really good job.  They are a little bit more expensive than I would expect to pay, but I had checked around in San Antonio.  I found out that their charge was kind of average for this area.  Sometimes she runs late, but if she is running late she would call me and keep me informed.
