Blind Ambition

We've been purchasing awnings and solar shades from James since 2015. He is simply awesome! The Sunsetter product is wonderful and James' "customer service" is outstanding! Recently, we added awning number 8 to our home. Robert and Kyle did a fantastic job installing our new awning and 5 new Solar screens. They are a great team! Robert goes above and beyond making sure everything is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT AND PERFECT! Kyle is super sweet and VERY polite and professional, and has a "No Problem" attitude about everything! James is fortunate to have the duo on his Team! Jesse and I LOVE doing business with Blind Ambition and will continue to do so as long as we live in Texas!

James arrived on time. I had ordered the wrong style and measurements for my blinds. James worked to install the blinds so that the covered my needs without extra charges. He was very polite and professional. Both he and his associate were very quiet, as my husband was sleeping. James removed the old blinds and disposed of them for me. Consulate professional. James and his Blind Ambition team are the contractors you pray to work with but never do. You don’t need a long explanation - need blinds or awnings - call James. There I just saved you time and money. There is no doubt they are the best. Could not be happier. Will use them again. TOTAL PROS.

Everything went great. James Johnson is a total professional. The whole process was as efficient and professional as a military operation. James came to our home the next day after we called and took all measurements and gave us all the options without pushing for the most expensive option. We made our choices and the final product was custom made and installed within 3 weeks of our order. James installed the blinds himself and everything worked perfectly. He even did some small task at no charge on my Awning which he did not even install. We could not be happier with James. He's a small company, just him and his helper, so you're not paying for a lot of overhead. Don't look any further than James and Blind Ambition. I'm a picky old retired Colonel and it takes a lot to impress me. Folks would be wise to give him a call.

Fabulous from beginning to end

Awesome. This the fourth or fifth time I've employed the services of Blind Ambition. James showed up just when he said he would. He and Jeff did a great job installing the blind. This company is just awesome. And very reasonable.

James is a rare find in business.  If you are tired of companies who over promise and under deliver, then you need to stop reading reviews and call James.  James delivers what he states and does it with a great attitude.  He is punctual with his appointment times and listens to what you need and does not try to upsell you.

James installed the sun screens for my pergola, and it looks and performs great!  I am very pleased with the result.  After he installed the new window screens for my mother's home, she called me to convey how happy she is with the workmanship and quality of the new window screens.  

I'll be using James for another project within the next couple of weeks.

James provided us with an estimate which included a 10% military discount.  He showed up for the appointment on time and provided us with all the information required to make an informed decision.  The blinds were delivered and installed as promised.  I highly recommend this provider.

James met us while the home was being finished. Instead of trying to up-sell us, he listened well to our desires and recommended the right blinds and colors to suit our needs. He was great about keeping us updated by email on the status of our order. he came exactly at the agreed upon time and did an excellent job of installing the blinds while working around other builder trades. At our request he adjusted the height of the valances, leaving us with a perfect job. He returned 4 weeks later with the plantation shutter and installed it in our bathroom. One thing I really liked about James was that he was very precise about how the install was done. Everything was put up right the first time, no re-screwing or re-leveling. If you want the job done right the first time, James is your guy.

My husband and I have lived in our home for 15 years and decided it was time for some home renovations.  I have found all of our contractors on Angie?s List for our recent home improvements.  Mr. James Johnson the owner of Blind Ambition went above and beyond with our experience.
James has 20 years experience and my husband and I felt at ease with our many questions about our investment in window shutters and they were more affordable than I thought.  James was so supportive with coordinating with us on our appointments and made a special appointment so my husband would be able to see the quality and samples of the shutters. Believe it or not...my husband and James both picked the same color as their favorite choice when we did color side by side selections and narrowed it down to the final color.  The shutter color is a perfect match and James offered his opinion because we asked for his help!  Our renovations have been major and my favorite thing is our shutters.  TOTALLY changes the look from the outside curb appeal to inside makes the rooms look so cozy with class.  The bedrooms get darker when the shutters are closed and you can really sleep in on the weekends.
Quality was most important as this is our forever home so James showed us samples of the actual shutters of wood versus poly-core to see the difference and so many color choices.  We decided after being able to see them to go with the poly-core shutters.  The quality of the installation is as important as the product.  James really cares about your satisfaction and I watched him as he installed the shutter he looks at every square inch of the shutter to ensure it fits properly with the window.  I highly recommend James Johnson with Blind Ambition as he is the type of business owner that is personable and works with integrity to exceed your expectations like he did ours.

James was easy to work with, quick, courteous, and communicated well. He even went the extra mile(s) to break down his installation into 2 visits so that some other work I was getting done by another vendor behind schedule could be completed.

It went extremely well!  John and his assistant arrived early and completed the job in less than an hour.  He and his assistant were very professional and friendly.  I would definitely use Blind Ambition again and would highly recommend them to others.  Great job!

James came out to our house even before we moved in so that he and his assistant could take detailed measurements and he could show me samples. I hadn't decided on Blind Ambition for certain at that point, but he wasn't at all upset with the idea that I might go with another company even after his visit. I chose Blind Ambition after comparing them to another local provider because the prices were in line with a similar product, and he had already done the measuring (and frankly, I was tired of having multiple contractors out to our house and didn't want to go through another visit by someone else!).
It took about two weeks to have the blinds made, and then James and his assistant came and installed everything in a matter of about two hours. Now we have privacy but also plenty of sunlight when we want it. I thought at first that the blinds were a bit flimsy compared to ones I've seen in other houses, but that thinness allows more light in without making the blinds really heavy.

Absolutely excellent experience. I called them a couple of weeks ago, and they came over that same day to measure a large and inaccessible window in my stairwell. I needed a blind because the heat that comes through that window each summer increases the temperature of my upstairs rooms by what seems like 20 degrees. I was so impressed that I ordered two more for the kids' room. James and Wes are professionals. Wes installed my blinds this morning and I was so happy that I'm going to use this company to install/replace blinds in the rest of my house. I had been putting off this project for a year and a half because I was afraid of the cost, etc. But this company made it so easy! And the price was more than reasonable.

As I said the experience went well due to the fact that the owner was punctual and explained the process He was also helpful with fabric choice and kept his word on dates and times of appoinents Yes I would recommend Blind Ambition.

They are arrived just a few minutes late to install the windows, but did call and let me know where they were.  When they arrived it took them less than 30 minutes for James and his assistant to install the blinds.  They totally changed the appearance of my home (my windows are terrible and need to be replaced....the blinds hid them well).  I got embossed blinds and like the wood look of them.  The blinds also arrived a week early than expected.  Impressed with the level of server I received at Blind Ambition.

He was on time, gave me a detail explanation of each of his product lines and colors of the shutters. After my selections he described the order & installation procedures with an estimated arrival date of the shutters.  His estimated arrival was exact and two days later the shutters were installed.  All were perfect fit and again he arrived on time and took only an hour for the installation.  He left no mess to clean up and gave instructions on how to open and close the shutters and a guarantee of part replacement should that occurred.  His entire contact with me was very professional and courteous.

After searching around on Angie's List for quite some time, I decided to use Blind Ambition (of San Antonio, TX).  They seemed to have the best price, quality and service that I wanted for this project.  While comparing ratings and price, this company seemed the best fit for me - and I am so happy with the results.  
I also found it humorous, that the one negative review was from a lady who lived in Austin and got this company confused with a completely different company altogether, yet the company response was still kind.  The only reason Blind Ambition - of San Antonio, Texas - may not have the perfect score is because of a random review by someone who did not even use this company and completely mistook it for a company in Austin, Texas!  (Which the negative review should be removed in my opinion by Angie's List.......!) 
James followed up immediately after receiving the Angie's List request, we scheduled the appointment for my first choice time. He was very professional, friendly and punctual.  After discussing the project on the phone, he brought the correct information and samples that were needed for the appointment.  During the first appointment, he measured all of the windows, we discussed the project, and he ordered the blinds the same day. The blinds were special ordered and installed within two weeks.  He and his
co-worker were on time, friendly, professional, clean, and quick.  
The blinds look Awesome!  And we couldn't be happier with our choice.  I highly recommend this company, you will not be disappointed with the price, quality and service. 

From the first telephone call to James Johnson of "Blind Ambition,"  I noted how carefully he listened and assessed all the problems I described for him to fix.   We then immediately set up the appointment for a few days later.  He arrived promptly and got right to work.  He didn't even want to use my stepping stool or ladder because he" trusted his heavy-duty step stool" saying (because he's big & tall) that "he didn't want to take a chance to possibly break mine!"   His demeanor was respectful, personable and professional.  He took down several shades and rehung them in 3 different rooms to hide defects in some of the shades (e.g. shade length was too short to reach window sill; stains on others).  When he finished, all shades in entertaining areas looked perfect!  Along the way, he tightened a loose doorknob in kitchen leading to outside porch which had been an annoyance for months!   He took his time to re-knot cord in a wide shade in front room facing street so it would hang perfectly straight at bottom when shade is lifted up. It had risen at a weird angle needing adjustment every time shade was pulled up.  Now it's always level!   He took down one ripped screen in a bathroom and said he'd re-screen the frame and return it the following week which he did for a total of $18.00 (no 2nd trip charge).  I would use him again for any window treatments or adjustments.  His total charge was very reasonable.   I had called several other local providers numerous times toward the end of last year (2014),  to service my Hunter Douglas window shades and I am STILL waiting for them to return my calls!!!  Forget about it!  So glad I found "Blind Ambition!"

They were great, They showed up on that day and they were done in 30 minutes. There's no way in the world I would have ever hired another guy in my life. They're just very fast and they're really better at it.
