APPLIANCE DOCTOR

I called them this morning, and a repairman was here this afternoon, during the time they specified.  He found the crack in the line, but it was too close to the door, so he couldn't clamp it.  He called the parts department to see if GE made a repair kit for this, which they don't, and then called another repairman who has dealt with this problem, who told him it was unfixable.  Since I had done some research on line, this information was sad, but realistic.  He turned off the water supply line for me, gave good advice on looking for a replacement fridge and DW, when needed, as well as a parts house that might have a part to help out my daughter with her DW problem (she lives out of state).  Overall, very knowledgeable, helpful, and professional.  He only charged me the $20 on the coupon for the call.

I had selected the appliance doctor from the phone book for their low rates on their service call, plus they gave seniors and military discounts.  Little did I know that they charge almost five times the price for their parts.  I needed a fan motor which I was charged $228 for.  In actuality the part costs $45-$55 tops-including tax because I called all the appliance parts companies in San Antonio after the fact to get a quote on a GE fan motor.  I was given a 10% military discount, but the mark up on the part was definitely not worth the repair.  I called with two problems-the refrigerator making noises and the ice dispenser not working.  I was reassured by the repairman that both were working properly, but I ended up having to fix the ice dispenser myself after the repairman left.  I also had unexplained charges on my bill that negated the discount, so I called the company and was told by the manager (Gilbert) that as soon as he got back to the office and looked at my bill he would call me back.  I never received a call back, so I called the next day and left a message for someone to call me, but I still have not heard from anyone.  This company left a very bad taste in my mouth.  So unless you want to be overcharged and lured in by their military and senior citizen discount, I would seek another company to do business with. 

They came out the same day and then ordered the part.  Very courteous on the phone and in person.  Came out the next day and put the part in and both are working great.  I would use them again.  Thank you
