The sales person was pleasant and very knowledgeable, he walked us through the process and helped us pick out the correct cable. His advice saved us $100 over what we thought we would need.

Overall, it went okay. When I sent my wife however, to pick up the new computer, she was told that there would be no military discount due to the fact that the work performed was a "repair job". In spite of the fact that she had the receipt for the newly purchased computer that was having several programs installed prior to pickup. I then had to go back to the store and speak to the manager to find out why she had been treated this way. With no real explanation, he apologized and credited my credit card for the amount of what would have been the discount.
Another issue arose about 3 weeks after the purchase. When I inquired as to why I was not offered insurance for the computer at the time of purchase, I was told that the particular brand I had purchased did not offer insurance. If this had been told to me at the time of purchase it would have impacted on my decision to select this machine. Instead, I have purchased a computer for which I can not get insured. The reason I brought the original computer in for assessment was due to an accidental drop with no insurance for repair or replacement. A situation that my salesperson was well aware of. Now I have another "uninsured" computer.
I feel like they withheld vital information in order to make the sale. Basically, I guess they were okay people but I think their attitude was to leave it up to the customer to ask the right questions and not volunteer any other information.

It took two weeks and all that was done was a virus removed, with the computer put back into it's original state. I had to call the, they never called me except for the quote that was given. This was the only time I spoke to the actual person working on my computer. He wasn't helpful at all....didn't explain things to me, and not being all that computer savvy, he didn't explain clearly when I asked for his advice on what should be done. I just had him to restore it back to it's original state, but when I got it home, it had nothing loaded on it....none of the programs I had before. I would've liked to been able to take all those to him to be put back on. So, it was inexpensive, but barely anything was done. I'm ending up taking it somewhere else, and at less than half the cost.

1 laptop had stopped responding at all. I was assigned to Robert who was able to return my laptop 3 workdays later. During that time I received phone updates. He explaint what was done without having to be "grilled". That laptop was fixed for about $60. And I am typing "this" on "that" laptop. I liked the service and brought in my 2nd laptop that would not let me access most programs including maintenance and updates. Again, I was dealing with Robert. And again I had phone updates and my laptop returned in 4 workdays due to the christmas holidays. I chose to buy 2 new memory sticks for this computer, even though I was given a cheaper option. Without my purchase the computer repair cost was about $60 and I was told it would have been running even without the purchase. Original computer parts were returned to me. I have 1 more computer........and I intend to go to Altex again.

Excelent service including taking my desptop out of my car for me (and returning it there (after repair). No more buying extended warranties from HP.

The computer sales personnel at Altex are very knowledgeable of computers, components, and variety of electronics. Additionally, their prices are comparable to other computer/electronics stores. The advantage of choosing Altex is their more personalized service that is lacking at national chains.
