into my kitchen and noticed that the countertops were not yet installed.
Instead, I noticed that a template was left sitting on top of my kitchen
cabinets did not correctly match the required shape. Since it was hours before he
was scheduled to show up, I immediately called him to ask if he had used the template
to cut my granite. At the time, he said that it was not the template that he
used.
Once he arrived to begin installation, it become obvious
that David DID USE the flawed template to incorrectly cut a large L shaped
corner piece from one of my slabs. END RESULT: Every corner on that L-shaped
piece is shifted slightly to the left. The left side is now too short because
his measurements around the sink were wrong and they had to adjust the stove
top accordingly. He also attempted to hide a bad corner that he cut on the
large island with a fill and incorrectly patched one of my window sills with a
piece where the grain is running the opposite direction.
The installation of the product was tedious and time
consuming so that what should have taken an hour and a half to install and took
all night to attempt to correct. Everything I went through would have been unnecessary
if the template had been right in the beginning. Mr. Medellin simply doesn't
understand that customers shouldn't have to provide second chances to professionals
at full prices. He can't seem to figure
out that once he makes a mistake measuring a kitchen he can't just stick the
customer with the domino effect at the same price and declare via text message that
"Stuff happens in the construction world".
My goal with this review is to inform you of the type of
character that this contractor displays and ask that you do not enable him to
keep operating. I feel that he turned out to be a complete fraud with very
little actual experience with granite fabrication. After this installation nightmare,
David texted me that he is a "boss which entitles me to headaches to a
certain degree, babysitting workers and also enriching my knowledge/craftsmanship
on a daily basis". My response to Mr. Medellin via text: "Just
because I own a beautiful home doesn't make me a decorator nor a contractor.
Just because you own those tools doesn't make you a fabricator."
