Originally took the mower to another Angie's List member and he referred us to Al's Small Engine Repair. Since I was almost there already I did not check for Angie's List reviews before I dropped the mower off.
When I arrived at the shop I was greeted by Al himself. I explained my problem with the mover and he said no problem he could fix it. He was courteous and knowledgeable. He said check back in 7-10 days.
I went home and checked Angie's list for reviews and was horrified by what I read. I actually considered going back to pick up the mower but in for a penny in for a pound. The mower was already there and I had trouble finding anyone to work on the mower to begin with.
Four days later I received a call from Al who said my mower was ready for pickup. I went down the next day to pick up the mower. He started it and showed me it worked and he loaded it in my truck. The entire repair bill was $67 which I though was an excellent price.
We used the mower on Sunday with no issues.
Very happy and highly recommended.
THANKS AL!
The minor issue mentioned above was this: I emptied the gas out of the tank on my new pressure washer at the end of the season. I neglected to run it until it used all of the gas out of the float tank just below the carburetor. Over the ensuing months the gas "set up" and became gunky. This year when i tried to start the engine, it would not turn over, so i added gas directly into the carburetor - and it would run until it used the gas that i had just added. I told the owner that i suspected the problem was something small that was not allowing the gas to get from the tank to the carburetor - in this case it was the bad gunky gas in the small float tank. I was charged 73.06 to have it cleaned out. When i pressed the owner about the issue, he was unable to delineate what exactly they had done in addition to cleaning out the float bowl that would necessitate such a large charge.
