They were highly recommended by someone that I worked with.  He had used them for his own personal use and also for his parents' house.  They were San Antonio natives and we were not at the time.  We used them.  We were very very pleased and we continued to use them for maintenance.  We signed a contract with them for them to check in the spring and in the fall.  They were very responsive.  We think they did a really good job.  The air-conditioning unit is still working good after 13 years.  We are no longer using them for maintenance because they went way up in their maintenance cost from one year to the next.  I called them about it.  I asked to speak to Gary Bacon who is the one in charge.  I left a message, but he never did call me back so we went with another company.  We had a long relationship with Air Tex and I would not hesitate to use them again.  They are very good.  They replaced everything in the heating unit and the air-conditioning unit.  We have a house of about 1200 square feet that is covered by the air-conditioning unit.  They did a really good job.  They gave us a very competitive price, a good brand, and equipment.  This was back in 1998.  They continued to do the maintenance and they came twice.  Sometimes I would have to call them to remind them about it.  Once we signed the contract, every year they would call here to ask when they could service it.  They always serviced it within a day or two of when I called and it was always at a time that was convenient to us.  At that point, we were paying $129.00 a year and then they jumped to about $179.00 in one year's time.  I never really did get an explanation on it.  I asked for one, but no one called.  I don't know why because we had been on their books for a long time.  I didn't push it anymore.  There are quite a few companies out there that are doing the same kind of thing for that price, but we are on fixed income and that was a pretty big jump in one year for us.  We went with another company that gave us a better price for maintenance.  The company that we are using now actually found a few little things that needed to be done.  I don't know whether those things have been carrying over from the previous people or whether it was something that developed since the last time we used Air Tex.  As far as service goes, once you call them for the maintenance, they are very timely and very responsive.  They were here on the double.  Richard, the man who had our account as far as service goes, was very polite and very knowledgeable and friendly.  They were outstanding on being responsive to our request for service.  The unit never quit working.  We never had a major problem like a compressor not working or the fan making noise where we had to call them.  I don't know how fast they would come in a case like that.  Our relationship with them was the initial maintenance and then the yearly maintenance.  They did go up incrementally for a while.  I went back and I checked how much we paid by the year just to see in case I got to talk to the boss.  He was usually pretty good about calling when they increased the price, but he didn't call the last time when there was a big jump in the maintenance cost.  They had small increases over the years which I expected.  Then when they did, it was like a 30 percent increase in one year and that upset me a little bit.  I needed him to explain it and he didn't.  He didn't call me back.  There was no explanation when there was a jump in the maintenance cost.  There was no letter that came with the form that we were to fill out, sign, and send back.  I don't know how big a company they are.  I never ever checked to see how many employees and things like that.  They were highly recommended by somebody that I worked with and that was good for me.  I respected the person.  They were responsive until the last time when the boss was nonresponsive.  I called them and a person answered.  I don't know if it was Mrs. Bacon that answered.  I think it probably wasn't because she was calling him by the first name.  They were kind of a family business.  We never had them on a service call.  We just had them on maintenance.  If they said they were going to be here late afternoon, they were here at 4 o'clock.  It wasn't 5 o'clock or 6 o'clock.  They were generally here when they said they would be.  Overall, they are a good company.  It is just sad that they didn't call me back after that long term relationship.  I gave them plenty of time to call.  I wasn't going to bug them about it.  I figured if he was going to call, he would call, but he didn't.  Maybe they got busy and didn't give me the message.  Also, they have not called or sent us a note to say that they missed our services. 

They are very good, trustworthy and reliable. I have used them for years.

They are prompt when I call them and they go out of their way to come over when I need them. They are very neat and honest with their work and we have been satisfied with them.

Air-Tex Air Conditioning &Heating did a good job for us. They even called us back to make sure that everything was running properly and to make sure that we were satisfied. I feel that they were very polite and professional. I use them four times a year to do checks on my heating and cooling system and have never had any problems with them.
