After the April 2021 hailstorm in Salado, we entered into a contract for residential roof replacement with Knowater Roofing. Knowater provided an estimate of $25,500, but wanted a $15,000 down payment before materials were even delivered onsite. Owner assured us that it was not uncommon for roofing companies to request a 50% down payment. He was asking for a 60% down payment! After seeing that the Texas Department of Insurance website cautions consumers to be wary if a contractor asks for a large or full down payment, we should have run from this company then. But foolishly, I liked the idea of using a local, veteran-owned company. I told owner Luke Duell that I would only pay $4,000 down payment, which he agreed to. Company started removing the old roof on July 1st, 2021. I noticed when I got home from work that afternoon the roofers were installing the new synthetic underlayment over the original underlayment. I inquired about this method because I work in the construction industry and had not seen that done before. I was told by an employee that this was the way it was done now. This concerned me because how could they possibly inspect the roof condition without removing the existing felt, but I did not want to slow the installation process of my new roof, especially with the threat of rain. The installation instructions for Owens Corning ProArmor Synthetic Underlayment state that it should be applied to a properly prepared dry deck.. I contacted Owens Corning and was told that any incorrect installation would void my warranty. When Luke originally inspected our roof, he commented that flashing was not done correctly by the builder and that he would fix that. When roofers completed the job on July 5th, Knowater Roofing representative called to advise they were sending someone over that evening to pick up the remaining payment for the job. Seemed very unprofessional to do that without the company owner or representative coming onsite to do a walk-around inspection of job completion. Had they done that, they would have known that I was not pleased with the flashing they installed and that job was not completed. They either failed to install flashing, or where they did, it was shoddy work. Luke shows up and I explain I am not going to pay him in full until all work was completed. Even after I showed him the poorly-installed flashing, he was argumentative with me and made a point to loudly insult me while he was talking on the phone with someone else. Very unprofessional! Flashing was corrected the following day and we then realized that shingles had been installed over our dryer vent. Thank goodness we noticed; this error could have caused a devastating fire. Knowater was apologetic for this mistake and corrected the problem the following day. While I am pleased with the product and how the shingles look on my house, my advice to any prospective customer is to put your expectations in writing when you sign a contract with this company. Make a note of all vents so they do not erroneously get covered up. Also, after the installation, I realized there was damage to my gutters and a window screen. When company provided the original estimate, I was told I would be refunded $1,500 to help offset my deductible...no surprise, that did not happen, company acted like that conversation never occurred.

I gave knowwater roofing a call to replace some missing shingles on my roof. I contacted them, and within a few hours I recieved a call back. They came out yhe next day and replace the damaged shingles. I make it a point use local businesses and I support my veterans. I would 100% recommend this company to anyone who is need of roof repair or anything dealing with roofs in general. Great company and the best in the business.

Very thankful to Luke and the folks at Knowater Roofing for the major repairs they were able to pull over spring break 2021. Luke specially worked us in after the great freeze of 2021: Two rooms of flooring; two rooms painting (including some intricate crown moulding work); major repairs and texturing to two ceilings; drywall, texturing, and painting in garage. Great folks, fantastic workmanship, and splendid service... on budget and under time. Can't say enough good things.

Luke is the owner of KnoWater Roofing. He is the person that came to my house and explained everything to me. Uses all Owens Corning products for total confidence and total protection. He gives a Senior, Military discount. He is a Veteran himself. When they found out that the flashing wasnâ t up to par, he went and got new flashing at No change in the Original price. Almost immediately after I submitted my service request through Home Advisor I received a call from Luke, the owner to set up an inspection. A recent windstorm had torn off some shingles on neighboring houses and I wanted an inspection to assess any possible problem on my own roof. Then, it was Luke and his drone to the rescue. The aerial inspection did locate a missing shingle. We discussed costs and with the inspection and replacement tile, the quoted price was extremely fair. Luke was able to come out and do the service on the same day. Luke observed the COVID-19 distancing and wore a mask during our consultation. I really appreciate that. I recommend this veteran-owned business for your roofing needs and he will be saved to my Favorite Pros in my Home Advisors profile.

They were punctual, explained everything in detail, were fast and efficient, had helpful tips and suggestions and the value for the money was very good! One of the best decisions ever! We had a strong wind come through the other day and it ripped a few shingles off from the cap. I went through HomeAdvisor and went through reviews and reached out to Knowater. Luke (the owner) called me soon after and even made an exception and came out same day! I can t even tell my roof was repaired, it looks great.

Luke came by at a momentsâ notice to look for a leak after a big rainstorm. Found the potential problem and worked us in to his schedule quickly. We will definately call him in the future for ant roofing needs.
