I hired Shane to do an energy audit of our home. He did the audit as promised, but I am not happy with this service because of some major miscommunications that occurred. First of all, I was told that the initial fee of $250 covered the audit and also the filing of paperwork with Oncor for the incentives Oncor was sponsoring. When I contacted Shane to do the paperwork, he said it was another $150 for the paperwork filing. When I pointed out to him that he never told me there was an additional charge for doing this, he did waive the extra fee, which I appreciated. However, he had promised us that Oncor would give us the full incentive amount of $1500 since we had done three upgrades, and even showed it to me on a piece of paper from Oncor. When I received the incentive check from Oncor, I was very surprised to see it was only for $760. I immediately contacted Shane by email and explained the situation. His reply was "Who told me I was getting $1500?" (Uh . . . you did, Shane). He said that he would research things and get back to me, but I never heard from him again. I did follow up with Oncor. They said that the audit rep (Shane) is not supposed to say how much Oncor would pay, since that is up to Oncor at their sole discretion. They reviewed my case and said that $760 was correct, so I had to be content with that. Oncor could not speak on what Shane had promised, as he is a contractor with them. So - we got what we paid in terms of the energy audit, the paperwork was filed as promised, and we did receive a check from Oncor. But I am not happy with the service we were given, especially when I never heard from him after reporting the problem described, and I cannot recommend him to others.
