They were pleasant and easy people to work with and we would recommend them; in fact, we did to several of our friends.
**Update** We did get a bid from this company on Thursday but have moved on at this point. She seemed to have some good ideas but we were ready to get started and could not wait almost a week on her bid when we had 3 more in line.
"I am pleased you complimented on my idea's. I was only trying to save you money since you are on a budget and most Homeowners are. I provided you a FREE estimate and working on the cabinet layout for approval to provide for you on Monday. I have emailed you several times and have not received a phone call nor feed back from you nor your Husband. I appreciate you have already found an Angie's List Contractor before contacting me. I feel this is unkind and might charge for my Free Estimates in the Future, considering gas and my FREE time estimating for Angies List, because we provide a 10 per cent discount for Clients on Angie's List ONLY. "Several Bids required" was for your Project. I also appreciate the referral from my current Client, We all attend the same Church. I don't know what else I could do to help you concerning your Project since you already had a Contractor in mind. Yes my phone rang, because of your referral client concerns from my Production Manager, and My husband was in Baylor Hospital. . I truly apologize for such. I will learn to keep my phone in the car from now on. I wish you well. Wanda J. Bledsaw, Owner/President, Bledsaw Construction & Design, LLC"
"Thank you for the NICE comments concerning our Quality and Workmanship and the Project finished out beautifully. We at Bledsaw Construction & Design, LLC made every attempt to stay in contact with the homeowner's given their heavy work schedules. Because of this, we met with the homeowners at night and on Saturday's and Sunday's, including phone calls and emails. My Production Manager ran the inside and outside crews and some mistakes were made, but quickly rectified and we moved forward to complete the successful project. We wasted no expense to make sure the homeowners would be satisfied. We were just at the project last Saturday for a small warranty issue. Sincerely, Wanda J. Bledsaw, Owner/President"
This project began July 16th, 2013 and right away we started off on the wrong foot because Bledsaw showed up 4-hours late to begin the demo portion of the project. Since they were late very little attention was given to protecting the areas of the bathroom that were not being remodeled and the surrounding hardwood floors throughout the house. As a result of this, the second day they were on-site the hallway hardwood floors were scratched and will need to be repaired. The demo of the bathroom took roughly 2-days and part of this project was to remove the corner mounted garden tub and replace it with a free-standing pedestal tub. During the bidding process all the contractors that bid on the project had complete access to the bathroom and were given the specification sheet for the desired pedestal tub that would need to be installed. It was obvious the in-ground plumbing and drain lines would need to be moved to install the new tub, but evidently Bledsaw missed this and refused to proceed with the project unless a $3,800.00 change order was executed. So basically in week one they showed-up late, damaged the hardwood floor and submitted a $3,800.00 change order. After we executed the $3,800.00 change order they contracted a company to excavate the plumbing in the bathroom and this area is surrounded by cabinets and window blinds that we intended to reuse. Bledsaw provided very thin plastic sheeting to cover the cabinets and did not protect the window blinds at all. As a result, the cabinets received a multitude of chips from flying debris and the window blinds were left absolutely filthy. To add insult to injury while carrying out the excavated concrete a worker slipped on the hardwood floor and caused yet another deep gouge in the floor. The next fiasco involved their tile contractor whom after 3-weeks on the job provided some of the worst installation work we have ever seen. Our concerns were expressed on several occasions to Bledsaw's project manager(Carl) whom assured us that their tile contractor was one of the very best and "knew" what he was doing. It was obvious to us he had no idea what he was doing and instructed the owner of Bledsaw the tile contractor was fired and no longer allowed on our property. This episode resulted in a meeting with Bledsaw's other tile contractor whom confirmed the work was "poor at best" and needed to be completely removed and restarted. My wife and I are still convinced if we would not have fired the original tile contractor Bledsaw would have continued and this project would have ended in litigation. At this point in time we are roughly 4-weeks into this project and except for the plumbing being relocated and the demo being performed we have not moved forward at all. Progress finally resumes when their second tile contractor arrives on-site and to Bledsaw's credit he was excellent and within a week or so the shower and bathroom floor is complete. We were so impressed with his work that we decided to have the master closet tiled to match. We thought this would represent a very small extension of this project because the rest of the bathroom could be completed while we waited on tile, but in reality virtually nothing happened on-site for almost 2-weeks while we waited on the closet tile. We can go on and on about all the other small irritants/mistakes made throughout this project, but in short Bledsaw has trouble with quality control and project management. A relatively simple project took 10-weeks to complete due to multitude of problems and we would not recommend them. This is not to imply the end result was not satisfactory or that Bledsaw did not fix everything that was damaged during this process. However, no one should have to go through this and we firmly believe the only reason the bathroom looks the way that it does is due to our insistence.
Upstairs we have two bathrooms. In one we had a new floor and a new vanity top. In the other we had a new bathtub with a new tile surround, a new floor, and new vanity top.
Except for the powder room, we did not replace any vanities, but had them all repainted.
The workers were pleasant, showed up on time, and did an excellent job. The field manager was very hands-on and always responsive to any questions we had. I would highly recommend this company. The cost was reasonable and the work was done in a professional manner.
"Thank you so much! Busy Estimating your Next Project at hand. Thank you all for continual Business!"
I enjoyed working with Wanda, her foreman Carl and the various other contractors/suppliers they employed. I was even comfortable enough to go on Christmas break while they continued the construction so it was finished when I returned to Dallas. Wanda sent progress pictures and kept me up to date via email.
The remodel also included redoing the floor in my guest bathroom and renovating my pantry shelves. Both these also turned out to be what I had envisioned. The best part is with these two additional items, Wanda's bid still came in lower than the others I had received. I definitely received value for the money I spent.
"Like most of my Clients, they provide pictures and I provide the vision. I absolutely loved the hall bath flooring. Who would have thought a crema marfil tile design for a kitchen backsplash would be so stunning on a hall bath floor! And yes, she dropped off the key and returned a month later. It was a pleasure to work for this Client and all my Clients. Thank you!"
"Looking forward to remodeling the pool bathroom too. I thank you for the opportunity to work for you. Sincerely, Wanda"
In all honesty I could have called her or emailed her to get the estimate, but I feel that if a company really wants the work it is their responsibility to follow up and call back in a timely matter with the estimate. I should not have to be the one chasing them down to see what the price is and when or if the estimate will be done or was done. It really makes me feel that they don't my job, maybe because it is too small and not worth their time. This is just my opinion
UPDATE: At 8:30 PM the day after I posted the original review I did receive an estimate for the shower via email from Wanda. Originally we also discussed a pocket door and adding trim to the mirror to spruce it up, but this was not in the estimate. Also we discussed partially removing a wall to open up the shower more. I did not see this detailed in the estimate, but it may have been included as part of something else, I could not tell. I will also state that I do not completely agree with her response to my original review. Our views of considerable time spent in my house differ substantially.
Based on the many good reviews of this company I would still recommend to others to give this company a try. My main intent is to share my experience and let others know why I will not use her services.
"The Member is Correct. I did ask if I could try to fit Him in on April 10th and he was gracious in letting me change the appointment date. I sent his estimate on April 26, 2012 not knowing his non-working report was posted on my Company Profile from Him. I apoligize for the 14 day delay in sending your estimate. I left my card, phone number and email and did not know he was in any type of rush decision. I provide as quick as I can in Collin County to all Angies List Members who contact me, a personal apointment, including design ideas that the Member mentioned and a Free Estimate. I did go to the Members Appointment and spent considerable time to help Him so he could Sell his home. I did send the Member his bathroom remodel estimate as I said I would. I apologize for the timing issue and his job was not too small for my Company to handle. Please refer to the actual work Bledsaw Construction & Design, LLC actually performs every single day, not including my previous clients and other referrals. Bledsaw Construction & Design, LLC currently remodels $75,000 homes and up to $5 Million Dollar Homes, and no job is too small or too big for us to handle. I have always lived in Collin County, especially Wylie and Sachse and I explained to the Member of such. I did the best I could with the Member and hope He finds someone to help him on Angies List. Sincerely, Wanda J. Bledsaw, President, Bledsaw Construction & Design, LLC."
Did a good job overall including messy dust & cleanup..
Excellent contractor...
Bulletin..... COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO THE PREVIOUS WORK PERFORMED BY BLEDSAW CONSTRUCTION
More kudos for Wanda and here crews:
I discovered a water stain and leak in my garage area on Monday 1-29-13 and called Wanda as I had no idea whether it was plumbing or roof related.. As she has plumbers, roofers, etc. working with her at all times, I was confidant that she would help me out.. Within a couple of hours, she had a plumber out who went in the attic and determined it was not a plumbing (water) leak. She had her roofing contractor (Louis) call me later that day and he sent out 2 of his guys yesterday 1-30-13 (after the roof had dried) to inspect.. They found a small leak around one of the vents on the roof and repaired it within an hour.
This is the level of service that all contractors should provide and I am very appreciative to know Wanda and am happy to recommend her for any job large or small... She rates an A+ with me...
Sincerely,
Jim Pinnell
"I appreciate the Member for contacting me. Yes, I did perform a full estimate including total demolition of a 100 year old home, removing old burdock piering to protect the cattle, removing old furniture, and keeping existing fencing safe and secure for existing cattle on their land so the cattle can't enter the main road. I provided complete demolition including hauling off every single piece of debris. I have preformed complete demolition in the last 15 years concerning burned out homes, shopping centers and a beauty saloon that involved Insurance Claims and proper requirements. The member did email me and said they are still cleaning up the area and left over glass, etc. I simply provided the best price I could for a professional removal of the 100 year old home. I appreciate the member for providing her information and pleased that her husband, that I never met nor talked to that he was able to obtain his project for a lesser price. I have spoken to many Angie's List Members and they have responded, unless I actually perform your new project, it is unfair to comment as such with a Price Point of C. given the circumstances that actually happened in the end of this Members Choice of Contractor. My estimates are FREE. I provide the best pricing I can with a 10% discount for Angie's Members and I try to estimate as many jobs as I can in Collin County on a weekly basis including Saturday's and Sunday Afternoon. If I can't handle your need, because of distance or timing, I will tell you upfront with honesty because most of my previous customers and referrals will wait for me, for a week to estimate their new Remodel or Insurance Repairs. I hope I am Crystal Clear with all of Angie's Members. Again, I appreciate the Angie's List Member from Texas. She was most kind in her e-mail. I enjoyed talking to her and emailing her and wish them the best. Sincerely, Wanda J. Bledsaw, President, Bledsaw Construction & Design, LLC."
"I appreciate the member contacting me. I just want to share with all members upfront if I cannot provide full committment and excellent customer service, whether it be a timing issue or in this case, the project in Prosper is outside of my service area. The project is simply too far for me to take on at this point and I explained this to the member so I would not be wasting his time and effort for his new kitchen remodel. I currently service: Plano, Sachse, Fairview, Wylie, and Allen, Texas. I also service parts of Dallas County thru previous client's referrals. Sincerely, Wanda J. Bledsaw, President. Bledsaw Construction & Design, LLC."
