Through Angie's List I  bought 2 ."Deals", the $39 Garage Door Tune Up.-- one for each door with auto-mechanism.  At first there was  a glitch with J&W  not receiving the  message from Angie's List Message Board, but when  I contacted them from my personal email, they resopnded immediately and  sent a tech out the same day.  This is the first time I ever had my own garage and the tech patiently taught me all about garage doors: servicing, balancing, how to make the motors last, programming the outside codes, how to change the bulbs in the motors, the safety features, security features,  and  how to operate the doors manually.  (For those of you who have had garage doors for many years I know it sounds lame that I didn't know how to do all that but we all start somewhere when we learn )The garage doors had been kind of noisy and clangy and wobbly (this is a pre-owned home). When he was finished  with the tune up the difference was amazing!  Both doors now  operate smoothly and quietly after he tightened here, and loosened there, and lubricated etc.  He recommended a strut be placed on the one door to stabiize it and reduce stress on the expensive motor so I will be calling them back to do that.

I contacted J&W because my garage door spring had snapped and after researching the cost of replacement parts and the process for changing it out, it seemed better to hire a professional.  I had requested an estimate for Friday, May 22nd after 1 pm, and they responded that they had an opening from 1-5 pm on that Friday.  I received a call at approximately 4:50 letting me know that they were behind schedule due to the holiday weekend approaching, and they asked if I would still like the technician to come out and look at my door. I had them come out because I really needed to get my cars in the garage with all the storms this past week.  Jerry arrived at my home at approximately 7:30 pm on Friday and asked me if I wanted to replace my broken single spring with another single spring or upgrade to two springs.  He informed me that a single spring was rated at 10,000 cycles ( or approximately 7-10 years ) and a double spring would be rated at approximately 15,000 or more cycles.  The double spring replacement would cost about $50 dollars more.  The spring that broke was the original in the home ( 17 years old ) so I told him I would just like to replace with a single spring to keep the cost down.

Upon inspection of my garage door, Jerry noticed that the two brackets that hold the cable on either side of the door had snapped off ( probably when the spring broke and the door slammed to the ground).  He informed me that he didn't have those parts on his truck, but would be happy to come back the next day, or he could attempt to fix the broken brackets.  He called his boss and found out that the brackets were not a separate piece but that I would need to replace the entire lower panel of my garage door.  He said " let me try to fix these first so you don't need to spend any more money".

Jerry removed the lower panel of my garage door, fixed the brackets so that they functioned properly, reinstalled the lower panel, and then got to work on replacing the spring.  He then aligned and balanced my garage door, lubricated the tracks and rollers, and wouldn't even accept any food or drink that we offered him for having to work so long in our hot garage.  Jerry provided exceptional service and really went above and beyond to get my garage door working again.  When I called in to pay for the service, they kept the price the same that I was quoted, $195 even though they had done more work.  I asked if I could pay an extra $25 because of the extra work Jerry had done to fix the brackets on the garage door.

I wouldn't hesitate to use J&W again ( and will be calling to replace either the lower panel as recommended or even my entire garage door in the near future ), and would highly recommend them for your garage door service needs!

Came out within 45 minutes after calling.  Looked at broken spring and suggested replacing with two springs for $50 more.  We have a heavy door, so I thought that made a lot of sense.  Installed both springs and lubricated rollers and hinges.  Works better than first installed.  Would definitely call again and recommend to anyone.

This is an almost too good to be true review.  Saturday night about 9:00 PM we hear a noise in the garage.  Found the spring on the garage door had broke.  Door would not open.  Went to Angie's List, found J&W Garage Door Service, and read the previous reviews.  Pressed the Ask A Question and explained the situation.  Overnight J&W responded and asked when was a good time to fix this.  He was there at 9:00 AM on Sunday.  No extra charge for a Sunday call.  Jose changed the spring and made a few adjustments and was done in less than an hour.  Great guy, great service, great price.  We would highly recommend J&W Garage Door Service

Jose came on time, identified the problems and replaced 2 springs. The repair went well and the garage door has been working just great. Kudos to this company. Years ago, I had a similar problem, and called a company found in the yellow pages. The installer tried all kinds of upsell and charged me nearly $500 for less work than Jose did. Good work for fair price, this company deserves a good reputation.

Called my home warranty for service and they sent my claim to J  & W.  While I am generally skeptical of service companies sent out by my warranty co, J & W was excellent.  J & W responded to my claim within an hour of the initial filing and came out that same day.  Technician arrived as scheduled, explain the problem and my options and promptly completed the repair.  I would definitely recommend J & W for garage door service.

I called Jose in the morning to fix the broken spring on my garage door. He came the same day. He was very professional and did a wonderful job. He also performed a routine checkup and fixed an extra remote control.
