I called Wilkes to get a quote for the job at hand. I needed to have my meter box re-seated on my house. I informed the gentleman that he needed to call and talk to me if he was going to give us a quote for the work, not my husband, as he isn't very good at relaying information. I gave him my cell number and told him to call me (I was working) when he was done getting an estimate together. My husband then called and told me that the man had already left and that he wanted $800-900 for the work. He also said that he needed to bring the house to code and that he would have to change a few other things on the meter box (like I said, my husband isn't very good at relaying information) He also said he needed to get a work permit and needed to have the power company come and shut off our power. (both of these items costing a few more hundred on top of his estimate) I waited to see if the gentleman was going to call me, and he never did. I was left with only half the details of what work needed to be done and, in my opinion, and astronomically high estimate. That's when I decided to subscribe to Angie's list to find a more reputable company. Maybe they are a better company normally, but to be honest, even if they had given us a reasonable estimate, I wouldn't have used him based on the fact that he didn't contact me, as I made it very clear that it was imperative in our earlier conversation.
Description of Work: Gentleman from Wilkes came by and gave us an estimate for the work that, he felt, needed to be done. Talked with my husband about the job and left.
