We called Joe because we were unhappy with the quality of the work we were getting from someone else. He came by to meet with my husband and quoted a fantastic price to mow and edge every two weeks. He said he was in our area on Tuesdays, and if he came by and the yard didn't need a mow, he would skip that week. And that's exactly how it went for May, June, and July. He sometimes came on Wednesdays instead if the weather was bad that week. The price was really good, and we were really happy with the job he did. Then one week he didn't come. I assumed he made the judgement that it didn't need it that week. The next week he didn't come again, so we started trying to contact him. The last check we sent him had not been deposited yet, so we got worried that he didn't receive it and dropped us as customers. My husband left him numerous messages over the next 10 days. He never would answer his phone or return the call. Eventually, my husband sent him an email that we had to find someone else, and to let us know if we needed to cancel the last check and send another. He finally responded with an apology.

This company provided our family with most heartache and pain of anyone in Angieslist.
So we found Joe through Angieslist and we called him early in the year as an experiment to haul our winter leaves in our backyard.Of all people who gave a quote, Joe seemed reasonable and competent and so I hired him for the job. On day of job, he did not show up on scheduled time and that was my sample of his professionalism. Repeated phone calls went unanswered and I had written him off as a flake and he showed up late in the evening, way past schedule and when I questioned him about phone calls, he said I had an out of state number and he thought I was a junk call and he said text messages work better with him. Sounded reasonable and so that job went well. 
Next in April I tried to contact him to set up regular lawn maintenance schedule like he suggested. Repeated phone calls and text messages went unanswered. I gave one last message and mentioned Angies list in that and he immediately texted me back from Mexico and said he would do my lawn on Monday (May 21st). He mentioned that he had to do some maintenance work  on first trip and so he charged me extra and I had no issues with that.
His biweekly next trip was supposed to be on June4th. Unfortunately I had a business trip that week and I returned only on June 7th (thu) only to find super long grass ...Moreover he had trimmed my front hedge so aggressively that it had gotten burns (brown and yellow) and they still have not healed. Called him so many times and texted him equal number of times and no response. Finally in my last text, I mentioned I am going to blast him on Angies list for his lack of professionalism and still no response.
I have since gotten a English speaking, punctual company and peace is restored. I took some time to write this review since I did not want to write in anger.  Its really amazing how this company and person is screwing up his business in this fashion. If he cannot make it to South or if he has too many customers , all it takes is a text message or phone call to say "no" . Instead he just ignores everything.
I would not recommend this person to anyone. First reason, he will not come on time, he will not be available for contact at any time and finally looking at my hedge, I suspect his knowledge of his work as well. Overall, one of rare cases where Angies list rating led me astray.

I left a message for Joe one afternoon. That same evening he returned the call. He came by the next business day to see the project and to give a price.  The next day the work was done. He is prompt, professional, pleasant, careful and his price is right!

On the Thursday before our 4th of July party, I decided to hire out getting my lawn mowed instead of doing it myself. I used Angies List to find this company, and called and left a message for Joe (the owner), who immediately called me back. He was not phased that I needed a one-time-only mow and was happy to do it the next day. I have since decided to have Joe mow our lawn each week.

He comes out weekly to keep up my very large garden. He is fantastic. We have been very happy with him and will definitely keep using him in the future.

From our first interview with Joe, we were convinced that he could and would do the intricate work we wanted for our extremely varied yards (front and back).  He was warm and personable but showed his knowledge about each and every of the numerous plants we have, including when to cut or cut back, how to care for each type of plant to keep it healthy and produce the effect we want from each one.  We walked through the yards and gardens with him, and he provided all the answers we would expect only from someone who turly is knowledgable.  Not only does he have the knowledge, but he cares about living plants and wants to keep them in their best condition year 'round.  We enjoyed visiting with him so much that we almost regretted when our time with him came to an end because he cares greatly about the same things in gardening and lawn care that we do and because he has a pleasing personality -- not the affectation of a slick salesman who is out to get one's busniess at any cost, but the humble confidence that comes from knowing one's area of expertice and wanting to have the work done to perfection.

Joe and his team are prompt, detail oriented, affordable and dependable. I recommend him without reservation. Excellent work.

Joe has done work for me in the past. He did a good job of cleaning up an area that had gone wild. Our communication was all by phone so he even came back and cut out two additional bushes that were dying. It looks great.
