We chose Kent Johnson for our master bath remodel because he had been recommended on Nextdoor as well as Facebook, and the "all-inclusive" price he gave us seemed reasonable compared to other quotes we had gotten for just labor. Also, because this business is based out of an address in our neighborhood, so we thought perhaps we couldn't go wrong with a neighbor who might care about his reputation and all that, right? Wrong. We're disappointed we ever hired him. Let's stick to the facts and main reasons why we'd warn anyone to stay away from this guy: 1) He had initially said project would take a month tops. Project started in April and was still incomplete in July! We only have two full baths so for almost 4 months we had to share a bathroom with the kids and guests who would come stay with us. When we would try to reach out to him he would not reply or would reply with a one-liner saying that he would come that day or the next and then often just wouldn't show up. There didn't seem to be a sense for urgency and/or he lacked the resources to commit to our project full-time. 2) His subcontractors/suppliers complained to us personally about not getting paid or getting checks from him that would bounce. This seemed to be the main source of delays when it came to getting things done. More than once he told us something had been ordered when in fact weeks later we would discover that it hadn't been ordered at all! 3) When we originally talked to him about our project and obtained a quote from him that included materials + labor, he said we could go look around and pick out materials we wanted and that he would go purchase that at a discount or could find comparable materials. We spent time going out to check out materials and pick out what we liked and gave him the list of materials with product info, etc. He agreed to this and said it shouldn't be a problem for him to get these. Suddenly when it came time to start installing some of that material (about a month later by the way) he brings samples of totally different material! We ended up having to go to a big box store and picking out materials all over again because at that time (with the subcontractor ready to install material) he was saying what we had picked out originally was "too expensive" so he was refusing to get that. Later on he would refuse to pay for even mid-range faucets from a big box store, saying they were too expensive. Wow. All of which could have been avoided if he had stated originally that he only installed X or Y material or perhaps brought a catalog of things for us to choose from! 4) As if everything I've mentioned already wasn't enough.. One of the pipes he had capped off behind a wall leaked and water went all over into our master closet, carpets, baseboards, portion of drywall, etc. All water damaged. This added to our project delays and although he fixed most of the damage caused, not all of it was restored to original condition. I can keep going and going. In summary, it was a pretty bad experience overall. We ended up removing him from project. As of today 7/20/16, the bathroom is still incomplete, and we are having to finish things ourselves and/or with paid help.
