When it came to the painting another helper showed up and Jason wasn't here at all for days at a time. We were becoming concerned as we (foolishly) were paying out large sums of money as Jason kept saying he needed to pay his crew, pay his mortgage, fix his transmission, and the list goes on. Trusting that the work would eventually be done in a satisfactory and timely manner we paid more upfront than we should have. When we had paid almost the entire $15,300 with weeks of work still unfinished Jason was unreachable. He would not answer his phone, respond to voicemails or answer emails. During the entire project Jason was here less than half the time of his helpers.
We found out that he had been running a Groupon for less than $100 for handyman work and he was taking care of those clients before finishing our job. A 3 month job turned into 7 months.
When he finally contacted after us after dozens of attempts to reach him we asked him to put in the transition strips between the wood floors and new tile that his helper installed. He told us to go find and purchase the strips and get them to the house and he'd finish the job. These strips were listed under supplies in his bid and we had already paid him the money for the strips but we were so frustrated with all the delays we just did as he asked in order to get the final phase completed. He came to the house one morning and hastily worked on the transition strips. It was a terrible job. The strips didn't match, some were elevated, the edges were jagged and glue very prominently showed through the areas where the strips met the flooring. We were in shock at the poor quality of the outcome and he agreed it would need to be redone. He told us to hire someone else and he'd cover the cost. That was the last time we ever saw Jason. We hired another contractor to remove and replace the strips (after we had to purchase them a second time) and sent Jason an invoice. Jason was non-responsive. We contacted the Better Business Bureau who sent to two letters and several emails to Jason with our complaint. He never responded. We finally had to take him to Small Claims Court. He did not show up which was no surprise. The judge looked at the pictures of the inferior work and granted us a judgment. We have never heard from Jason again.
"To Whom it may concern: We have different views about what actually happened on this job, I really wanted to make her and her husband happy throughout the entire job all the way up until the end when they wanted me to replace the transition pieces from the tile to hardwood that we installed. As far as the hollow sound of the tiles goes, she and her husband were on their hand and knees with a wooden spoon tapping every square inch of each tile. if there was any variation of sound they would put an X on it to be replaced. So I replaced every marked tile because I wanted to make them happy. This kind of behavior from them was present throughout the whole job and I bent over backwards to try and please them, but there was no pleasing them. I never said I was going to do the job on my own, I have a business to run also. As far as the transitions go, I told them that I would replace them even though they looked great. Just because they were not completely happy with them I was willing to do it. But they hired someone else to do that work and sent me a crazy bill, which we never discussed prior to the customer hiring them. It was more expensive than I charged them for the complete floor and it was not even close to being accurate for the work that was done. I was not going to pay that so they decided to take me to court and I was out with the flu the week court was commencing so I missed it. Regardless I am glad to put this job in my rear view mirror. Caution to anyone who tries to work for this customer in the future. She promised me that she was going to try and ruin my company on the internet when I didn't pay her outrageous bill. I say she has really tried to keep that promise."

"This complaint is very unexpected. I would like to address the patio cover first. I built the patio cover and used pressure treated material because that's want the customer wanted. Both her and her husband thoroughly inspected and said it looked great. She did not express any dissatisfaction. I told them in a month they would need to stain & seal it to keep the pressurized wood from warping. They called me back out about a year later and wanted me to replace posts which were never sealed. the weather caused the wood to split and bow therefore I cannot replace the posts. My warranty does not cover that. And as for the inside molding, she never expressed any dissatisfaction at all. In fact she looked over the job and said it looked great. When she called me back she never said anything about molding. She is at fault for the post warping because it was not sealed, and the molding can only be a complaint because she is upset about the posts. I feel this complaint has no merit. I have done hundreds of jobs in Round Rock and never had a complaint. All of my business has been from referrals so I must be doing something right. I stand by my work and for her 1 complaint, I have hundreds of customers who will attest to the fact that I do quality work. I am honest, and warranty my work if I am at fault. I can understand this complaint if I did something wrong but I didn't. Jason Aduddell-Owner"
