First Choice Framing

Our job took over twice as long as estimated, cost quite a bit more, and the quality of work was poor. We went through daily stress attempting to keep an inexperienced contractor on time and on budget. The team of workers made numerous mistakes, caused all kinds of damage to our home, and did work in places that only a 5 year old could be proud of. I would not recommend this company, they are a major headache. In addition to the above, they also got paid for work they ultimately walked away from and did not complete.

The initial conversation on on the phone was great, but after that initial conversation nothing really went right. He said he'd go out and review the job that day, 9/8. Here's the timeline for the rest of our interactions: 9/11, I received a call to discuss the job. He said a bid was forthcoming. 9/20, after a week and a half of no communication, I put in a follow up call. He's said he's busy but he should be able to have a bid to me later that day. 9/22, another follow up call, he's still working on the bid, should have it soon. In this call we reviewed details we already discussed on both 9/11 and on 9/20. 9/25, I called and no answer, left a voicemail, no reply. 9/26, I called and no answer. So, needless to say, we're not very happy with the responsiveness and the level of professionalism displayed by Jorge. I believe he's probably a good guy, but he's doing the typical stuff that most people use Angie's List to try to avoid.

He was supposed to come give an est on 7/14. Had me wait from 8-12. I asked that he pls call me ASAP if/when he knew he wasn't going to make it. I waited. He didn't show up and STILL hasn't called five days later.

George's framer repaired a cracked rafter which was causing a partial roof sagging. The work was done very professionally with excellent quality and at a reasonable price. George was a pleasure to deal with and I would definitely recommend his company for both small and large jobs. I will use his services in the future if the opportunity arises.

We were supposed to meet at 2:30 to discuss the first of several projects. He called at around 2:45 saying he could not make it. but promised to call the next day to set up an appointment. I have not heard from him. I don't know the reason, but a simple " I am very busy and cannot take any more work" would have been sufficient, I would have understood. Sorry George you missed a good opportunity.

First Choice Framing did a fantastic job on my home repair. Initially Once the job began George, the owner, and his expert team found the real cause of my home's second floor slanting into the garage. The whole room above the garage was collapsing into the garage. George contacted one of his engineers to certify his structural design to fix the problem and before the day was over the engineer was at my house inspecting and going over the plan. Now that's service! George was attentive, knowledgeable, and always available to answer any questions throughout the process. The initial job was to be completed in two days but after the real problem was discovered it took 5 days. George's crew worked daily from 8 to 5. I was really impressed by their work ethic and workmanship. While completing the job George even created a small accessible attic in available space that was previously hidden by the garage's ceiling. Now that I found a trustworthy contractor, I will be hiring them to install wood flooring on the now level second floor. Thank you First Choice Framing!

George is very professional, courteous, on time and on budget. I plan on using them again for an upcoming expansion.

I originally hired First Choice Framing for framing work. I had just bought a house that needed new structural supports in the roof and I wanted to someone with structural and framing experience. So I called George, owner of First Choice, and he came out to help me out. George Immediately told me what needed to be fixed and was willing to do the work for a fraction of what I thought the price would be. While George was there, he noticed all the other work that I would have on my plate and he informed me that he does all remodeling work. I gave George a shot and was not disappointed. George has all his own men and can therefore keep his prices below his competitors. Some work George does not do, (electrical and plumbing) but he knows people that will do everything for well below what other competitors charge. George has provided me with both electrical and plumbing bids at a third of the cost of competitors. One aspect I really appreciated about George was his carpentry skills. My homes have very old wood framed windows with original glass. As you can image, 100 years did not leave these poorly maintained windows in the best shape and the wood had rotten out on most. George is a master with these (not to mention older homes in general - his experience comes from working on older homes in New Orleans), he was able to rebuild the windows be keeping the old wood and replacing the rotten worth with new wood. The results were excellent. George has also replaces rotten siding, decking and molding. George has men that to AMAZING sheetrock work. A lot of my homes have needed foundation work which really really messes up sheetrock. He has been able to take walls that look like there is no hope and fix them perfectly by fixing the existing sheetrock NOT replacing it (more cost and time savings). I only have two complaints about First Choice, As you may imagine George is a very busy man and he tends to arrive late for quotes. The second is First Choice Painters, they can be a tad bit sloppy, but George is willing to fix EVERYTHING you can find. These are fairly minor issues when compared to what an amazing work and value George provides. In closing, I find George to be an invaluable asset for my remodeling and make ready needs and with his professionalism, personal contact time and deep desire to please, I consider George a friend that I feel I can call on anytime.

On 7/13/13 I sent a request for a quote and a week later sent a follow-up request. NO response came at all.

You asked for a review, however, it's been nearly 3 weeks since he came out to bid the job and we have never heard back from him. Therefore, we cannot speak to his quality of his work, etc. He was a very nice person and we provided our email address when he was here so it was very disappointing not to have heard from him again.

Very well. I highly recommend George. He has a lot of integrity and is an excellent craftsman.

George did such an excellent job on installing the headers in my living area that I wanted to use him again for my bathroom. He was over-the-top nice, courteous, accommodating, and professional. He and his crew finished framing the new bathroom in 6 hours, using minimal supplies by reusing good wood. My house was built in the 80s and George had noticed nothing was nailed / bolter to the floor. When George spotted something that needed fixing or attention, he would make it right. The frame was built better than what had been their previously, he used green, water resistant yellow wood as the sole plate and shot nails through them into the slab for extra sturdiness, neither of which were done to the house previously. The $800 price included 2 pocket door frames which he had gotten for me for around $230 total. He had purchased a small amount of lumber, mostly green boards for the sole plate, leaving the rest for labor between he and his crew. Needless to say, I received second to none value and second to none craftsmanship. In return, he is receiving a returning customer for all my framing, carpentry, and woodworking needs. I would strongly recommend First Choice Framing.

George at First Choice was extremely courteous, responsive, punctual and professional. He showed up on time with his staff, the supplies, the tools, and the muscle to get the job done. George took the time to explain to me exactly how they were going to take care of the structural wall. The work was performed swiftly. Any time they came across a road bump, they fixed it tactfully, without complaint, using his vast ingenuity. The bathroom wall was once infected with termites and left rotted wood behind. The window frame was starting to bow because of it. In short time, they had straightened the wall and window right up and improved the structure of the bathroom. All in all, George and crew not only improved the look of the interior, he also improved the structure of the home. I will most definitely be utilizing his expertise again in the my master bathroom and master bedroom for future projects. You won't be sorry you called George at First Choice Framing.

George was prompt and very easy to work with. The job took 3 days to complete. He cleaned up well and worked hard to minimize dirt/dust getting into the rest of our home. He made sure the modification retained the structural integrity of our home.
