Was referred to Mr. Harrington by a relative who had used him for several projects.  Mr. Harrington evaluated my roof and submitted a bid which I found to be quite resonable, as I had obtained bids from two other companies.  The work was completed within a week, and if he found something that needed replacing or repairing, he called me first and let me know the situation and the probable cost.  When the work was done, the crew removed all trash and left the area clean and neat.  I will call on Mr. Harrington for any repairs or remodeling needs that I might have in the future.

Met Mr. Harrington based on a friend's recommendation. Mr. Harrington showed up on a Sat. morning to address our roof leak concerns. He went up on the roof and inspected the roof jacks and then noticed a couple of places where the shingles were not installed properly. He presented to us several options which included a call to the insurance company to look at the whole roof. The adjuster came out and confirmed Mr. Harrington's first assessment of where the water was coming in. The adjuster also agreed with Mr. Harrington's resolution on what to do to permanently fix the roof. We voluntarily withdrew our claim with the insurance company because the facts were that this part of the roof was installed improperly to begin with. Before we signed the contract with Mr. Harrington we noticed the negative review about him that was submitted after our first meeting. We also noticed that his listing states that he is not insured nor bonded. We asked him about that and he said that he IS and HAS been insured and bonded which is a requirement for contracting with Federal, State and local government entities for many years. He also let us know that he would arrive early in morning and leave early in the afternoon before it became too hot on the roof. Mr. Harrington came and replaced all of our roof jacks and fixed a multitude of shingle installation mistakes. He also repaired and fixed our gable vent without charge. Only after the work was completed and approved by us did he submit an invoice for the materials and labor. This amount was cheaper than the first estimate which we had agreed to.

First of all he couldn't give me an estimate since he said he was not sure how much of the old deck he would have to take up. Took him four days -- the first two days he came by himself and then when I told him the painters were coming the next day to paint the deck he finally got some help but it still took him two additional days. Charged me 1000 for material but not sure I got 1000 worth of materials and then charged me 1500 for labor -- he claimed he was giving me a deal because he usually charged 800 a day for his men and equipment but it was only him and a hammer for two days. When I looked at the finished product it was below average with nails not flush with the wood, etc. When I called to tell him I thought the price was too high for what he did he used profanity and said I didn't know what I was talking about.

"when i'm in the wrong about anything i find it wiser and simpler to just say i screwed up and try to make it right by any means. but i don't feel this is the case here. this member and i got along fine until the job was done. i was hired to replace rotted wood on a lower and upper deck. the member was not interested in hearing about a contract or a price.he always seemed to be in a hurry and his son would sometimes over-see things.the member told me to replace the rotted wood as needed and to keep a tab on it. this is not the way i do my work and i never will again but it is what he asked for and i pointed out the rotted wood being replaced as i went along. when the job was done the member wasn't around as usual so his son looked the work over and was satisfied so i presented my bill--a check was written and i left. (2) hours later i get a call at my home. it was the member and from the - get- go he was yelling about the price ,and it was not me who used the foul language. i tried to explain to him the bill is what the materials and labor came to but he wasn't hearing it. he used a few more foul words and hung up on me. i'm sorry it worked out this way but the member could have done like everyone else and just simply asked how much! i never claimed to be the cheapest contractor but i'm by no means the highest either. the member only complaint was the price but yet he gave me bad marks in every area. that's just hateful and mean for something that was his own doing. all he had to do was ask how much and then say yes or no. thank you, melvin"
