Maddox Custom Pools & Landscaping

We've used them for about 16 years now. Their prices seem to be a little bit high. We're happy with them and we don't find any reason to change at this point.

They do a very professional job. We gave used them for several years. Last year we won sub-division yard of the month.

The original bid included the replaster and repair of the coping.  After starting the repair, I get a bill that it would be $1500 more. They told me they didn't realize the extent of the repairs.  When I asked for a detailed explanation and a re-measure of the coping, I get another change order bill for an extra $1000.   It seems like the more I asked, the higher the price went up.   On top of that, they charged me another $200 for gas to get additional tiles that I had originally picked in the first place.    When I disagreed, he had his men drop everything and pull out while in the middle of the job.  My pool and backyard were a complete mess with mosquitos, frogs and snakes swimming in the scummy pond water at the bottom of my pool.   It was a nickel and dime show!!  They were the 3rd quote that I received.  Their first quote was higher than everyone else.   He had lowered his bid to beat the others... to later realize I got the bait-and-switch.  They get the job and nickel-and-dime'd to the tune of $2400.  Clever!   I told them, this is NOT acceptable and vigorously disagreed.  He offered to partially reimburse my half-down deposit at his own discretion.   I told them I would contact my attorney.   After two months of delay, they had come to their senses and realized that his reputation would be on the line while dealing w/ a lawsuit.  We agreed to a fair price and they finished the job.   They didn't handle this job professionally, but finally made good on it.  By the time, the pool was ready to swim, summer was over.... bummer!  The kids were grossly disappointed, to say the least.

Firstly I should say that Maddox did everything that they contracted to do. The work was largely complete as of 9/15/2012. However, their pool excavation contractor tore up our newly graded yard (It was a new home) with the bobcat and broke our (new) driveway, but Maddox replaced that. Unfortunately, they had already completed the drainage for the back yard, but not the side that got torn up by the bobcat digging the pool.
They quoted us an extra $1500 to provide drainage, but when pressed they said that they would restore the grade to the original condition. They did not. That side of the yard retains water and it looks like we will have to contract someone else to install drainage to fix Maddox's mess.
Overall, we are very happy with the quality of the workmanship - the decking and pool are very well done. But Maddox did not restore the yard to it's original condition and when asked, became verbally abusive, stating that and quot;no other pool company would have replaced our drivewayand quot;. (I will be glad to provide e-mails). Maddox and their Subcontractor made some very basic errors in judgement and did not stand behind their work. For that I would hesitate to recommend them, in spite of the fact that the pool and decking are lovely.

While I'm here they do a wonderful job, but as soon as they know that I'm gone their quality deteriorates.

This landscaping turned out to be a disaster! A project that should have taken at max ten days they drug out for three weeks or more, and some of the plants they put in were inferior, and ended up dying.

The project is an on-going weekly service. They gave me a list of services they provided with the estimated cost for my yard and let me choose as much or as little as I wanted. They have consistently done a great job for over 2 years.

Maddox Landscaping and Lawn Care does a real good job taking care of everything from sculpting my garden to the looks of my pool. I've used them for quite awhile and they have always done an excellent job. They always call to see if I need anything extra done and when I do, they stick to the price that was quoted.

Maddox is a very reliable company. Last year I actually made my appointment for this year. I totally forgot about them coming. They did not forget. Maddox called me a week in advance to remind me of our upcoming appointment. I really appreciated this. The employees that Maddox sends to the house are wonderful! They are very nice and love to talk. I like that in a company. It is important to me.

Maddox Landscape Company did very poor work. I was very unsatisfied. Before they began to dig, I pointed out an electrical line, but they still ended up cutting through it. I complained about it, so they decided to not finish the job. They wont return my calls and left holes in my yard. I would not use them again.

Maddox Landscape Company made my shrubs look great and they did the job very quickly. They never left a mess in my yard. They showed up when they said they were going to, and made suggestions based upon what I wanted.

They did ok. The price was not to our liking and the companies punctuality was lacking. The quality was great and the professionalism of their employees was good. I just feel that several things could be better.

I have used them for ten years for any landscaping and lawn work that I've needed. They have also installed a sprinkler system for me, and I was so impressed with them that I signed a monthly contract with them for all my yard care and landscaping needs. I use them on a regular basis to come out like clock work to provide regular full service lawn care. They always show up on time and make the yard look amazing every time.

SCOTT BREEDLOVE WAS OUR SALES PERSON AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PROJECT AND HE WAS GREAT. HOWEVER BEFORE THE PROJECT WAS TOTALLY COMPLETED HE LEFT THE COMPANY, BUT HIS REPLACEMENT, JOE GIGI, ALSO DID A GREAT JOB.
