"The installation was well. 2 years later you contact me forna repair job. I responded that we are currently swamped and cannot get to you anytime soon. I told you a future date over a month later I could get to you if everything goes smooth from now to then. Unfortunately no job has taken two days to complete and we have fallen behind because of the ground being hard to dig through. Sorry but with this extreme heat we cannot catch up to the work load we had at the moment and still have."
On the day of the installation Juan and his team arrived promptly at 7am and had everything installed, adjusted and cleaned up before noon. Everyone knew their job, were polite and very efficient. Juan explained the controller, valves, sensors etc... and again walked the property with me so that I could see each zone operating. He then made sure I knew about the 2 year warranty and thanked me for the business.
In short, Juan and his team did a great job and I will hire them again if I ever need irrigation installation or service.
I negotiated a turn key price with Mr. Tejada to install an irrigation system for my entire yard. The contract states that Colonial Irrigation will "provide 100% coverage to all irrigated areas" and that "All installation will comply with TCEQ standards". Within 24 hours of the installation I sent Mr. Tejeda an e-mail requesting that he send me an As Built Plan of the system. He responded a few days later stating that "I didn't do a plan for your house. The system was designed the same day we were there." I already knew the TCEQ mandates that a plan be prepared and provided to the homeowner.
Shortly thereafter I took advantage of a service provided by my MUD district to have my irrigation system inspected for maximum efficiency. The inspector advised me of several areas in need of improvement. I contacted Mr. Tejeda in writing and provided him with a copy of the inspection as well as a link to RG-466. I informed him that I had read RG-466 and that I had found areas of the installation that several of the TCEQ requirements had not been met. I asked that he read RG-466 so we could discuss my concerns.
Mr. Tejeda called me the same day I sent the e-mail. He asked me what I wanted. When I asked him if he read my e-mail and he responded that he had and he again asked me what I wanted. I asked if he had read RG-466 and he told me he did not need to. When I mentioned that I did not receive a plan he told me that I did not pay for a plan. When I told him that I thought we needed an additional sprinkler head because the front right corner of the lawn was receiving 50% less water than the adjacent section he told me that I did not pay for the sprinkler head. I reminded him that he promised 100% coverage and told me I had 100% coverage.
Since my last conversation with Mr. Tejeda I have found that there are five sprinkler heads that were installed too close to the driveway. They are between 1 1/4 and 3 inches from the driveway. TCEQ requires them to be a minimum of 4 inches from a hardscape.
If you are looking for a company who will adhere to the TCEQ standards I would not hire Colonial Irrigation.
"After talking to tceq they agreed with me where there bare too many tree roots I don't have to put a rotor there. Property was getting 100% coverage. As to the heads not being 4 inch off the concrete just saying soil shift is not recommended to cut your sod after sprinkler installation so that the heads don't move. As to tceq standard I complied. If I didn't comply I wouldn't hold a license and they wouldn't have renewed my license. We don't cut corners we get the job done quickly in one day and have the best prices in town. My company has become one of the top family own business in the Houston metro area."
