MJC Fence & Deck

Mike was recommended to us, prompt in his estimate, and we confirmed to do the project. Then our HOA got in the way. Mike was far more patient with them than we were, but eventually we got our project approved 6 weeks later. We had stayed in touch, so Mike got us back onto his schedule again, and arrived and completed the project as promised. The quality and workmanship are top notch, as was the clean up afterwards. And Mike's a good guy to boot!

I'm very pleased with the results. On the first day, Mike and his assistant removed the old fence, and stacked it neatly for pick-up by the city bulk trash service. They also completed installation of the steel fence posts, in concrete. On the second day they installed the new fence using 2x4 cedar stringers and full 4" wide slats. I also had them install a 2X6 pressure treated footer board along the entire fence line. Workmanship was very good. Also, Mike was prompt to return all my phone calls quickly and was on-time on every commitment made. I would definitely recommend him to others.

Mike showed up for the free estimate appointment on time. He gave me a competitive quote to remove and haul off 60 feet of wooded fence with rotted wooden posts and replace it with treated lumber and metal posts. He was able to fit us into his schedule a week earlier than first anticipated. The job was started and completed in the same day. The jobsite was thoroughly cleaned. The fence looks really good.

Mike started the job a day earlier than they had first quoted and were completed in 3 days.  Gave a full day to set the metal posts in concrete before installing the boards.  Cleanup was thorough.  When he had questions about which way I wanted the boards to be placed (I see the post or not) he asked to make sure he was installing it correctly.  No assumptions.  Quiet guy but easy to work with.  I had meant to do this review sooner, but...life happens.
I would nominate him for Excellent Supplier Award if I knew how to do it.

Mike and his helper arrived on time and the job was finished in the time Mike had estimated. They were both very professional, and didn't even know that they were there. The job took 3 days.

Work was originally scheduled to be done on 5-20, but they had an opening so did it early.  Arrived on time.  Finished in 3 hours.  Work and clean up was very satisfactory.

Mike does good work.  I liked that he coordinated the tear down of the old fence and the building of the new so that we had a place to keep our dogs during the multi-day project.

I needed the fence rebuilt on a rental property. I lived in another state, and MJC was very easy to work with remotely - from setting up the estimate to scheduling the work to arranging for the payment to be sent after the work was complete. We faxed and signed the contract, the work was done, they emailed a photo of the completed work, I called my tenant that night to verify the work, and I arranged with my bank's website to have a check sent.
About a week later, I checked my bank's website to verify the payment had been sent and found that it had not. I suspected that I must have forgotten to click the final "submit" button when I created the transaction. I immediately created a new transaction, verified that I had completed/scheduled it properly, and called MJC to let the owner know of my gaff and the estimated delivery date. Even though I had been proactive, he went ballistic. He demanded to know when the check would arrive and threatened to tear down the fence if it did not arrive that day.
About a year later, I returned to the property to inspect, power wash, and seal it. The work was as expected, though there were boards with bent-over nails. Given the price, I thought it was a good value, regardless. Even with what I felt was an inappropriate response to the payment issue, I still recommend MJC for the value delivered and initial ease of working with them.

After he was through tearing down the old fence he suggested piling the wood near the road and that was done. Within a couple of days 99% of it was picked up. We had a slight problem with the neighbors side of the fence. There was a stone wall separating the properties and it was falling down so Mr Coady sank the pipe supports deeper on that side for stability. The whole job was done in two days. We have a beautiful sturdy fence that I am sure will last for many years. I would highly recommend MJC Fence and Deck!

On both occasions, Mike showed up at the time expected and completed the work in a timely and professional fashion.  I would definitely recommend MJC Fencing to others and will contact him again when I decide to actually replace my fence.

I contacted them via phone about the fence install. After a day or two I got a quote back that was very reasonable. Unfortunately, I had to wait about 3-weeks for them to come, but being busy is usually a good sign. I got an email two weeks later and took care of some paperwork. Over the next week they had people come and flag the property for underground wires. They showed up right on time and gave me a 30-minute heads up call like I requested. I quickly showed them where I wanted it. It would come nowhere near property lines, so it made it fairly easy. However, it did butt up against my septic drain field and they made sure to avoid that. The fence went up in two days. First day was concreting the post in. The second was putting the actual wire up. They were done both days by early afternoon. That's pretty good considering it was a small two-person team. They installed two gates exactly to my request. Overall, I enjoy the fence very much and it was exactly what I asked for.
If I had to be picky, here are my only complaints. There were a lot of stray metal fasteners left in the yard. I walked the perimeter several times to make sure I didn't get one in the lawn mower. I probably picked up a dozen. They also pushed the foundation watering system up against the house's foundation. This caused the water to bubble up through the soil around the fence post and house. It caused the fence post to even get a little loose. This isn't a big deal because forgot to mention to them that I had the system. Also, I was planning on replacing it anyway because it wasn't installed properly by the previous owner.

We got an estimate and we changed our minds about how much fencing we wanted and he got us another estimate within a day.  He gave us a date for the work to start (a Monday) and he was able to start a day earlier (on Friday).  He completed the job in the amount of time he said it would take.

I received 4 quotes all using the same quality materials.  MJC had the most competitive bid.  He responded very quickly to all of my emails with questions I asked.

Mike agreed to start on Jan. 30.
First day he took old fence down and set 90% of posts
Day 2 he had all rails up
Day 3 done by noon.

The job was done fantastically, very professional. We couldn't be more pleased. 

The fence is just beautiful. We had a couple of bids and some of them were really high. He gave a good bid. They were really professional.  They got it done quickly; it only took 2 days. They collected all the old fence and put it in a pile and said free. Most of it was taken and what was left, they took away. Everything was just great. They did a wonderful job. There was a wall between us and our neighbors. The fence was falling in the neighbor's yard so he put the metal posts in deeper than he normally does so it would make it sturdier. The fence is wonderful and we love it. There were no problems and everything was perfect. We would recommend them.

I contacted Mike after receiving an advertisement in the mail (Money Mailer) and looking him up on Angie's.  I compared a rough estimate or two I got over the phone with his after he stopped by my house on a Sunday afternoon to look at my patio.  His price was much better than competition but after meeting with him I felt confident in his abilities and knew he was the right one for the job.  When it came time to start everything was on time and went very smooth and we could be happier with the results.  In the first weekend of having this patio shade structure we have spent more time out on the patio and in the backyard than we have in the last year I am sure!

Everything went fine. I have known him for awhile and he was significantly lower on the price than others and the quality was just as good. I have received many compliments on the fence and I am very happy with it.
