I will never return to that dealership.
It was really easy and they coordinated with our insurance company. For the most part it was good but the service department did not communicate well with the parts area. They told us to bring the car in and the part was not there. It came a week and a half later but they did give her a rental car free of charge. They were fine and the car has been fine ever since then, no problems. They worked closely with our insurance company and we did not have any issues.
My Elantra had minor rear bumper damage after it was hit at a stop light in a minor collision by a driver who had dropped her cell phone. (Aargh.) The other driver was insured by Allstate, which assumed responsibility for the repairs. After having the repair work estimate completed at an Allstate claims center, I brought the car, which had only 1,500 miles on it, to Lakeside Chevrolet and spoke with Bart Graham, who is the manager there who deals with Allstate claims. It was my decision to use Lakeside Chevrolet, not Allstate's.
I brought the car in on Monday, July 16th, and was told it would be fixed by the end of the week. The next day, Bart called me to tell me that the bumper could not be repaired but needed to be replaced. He handled all the details for the increased cost with Allstate. Today, I got a call from Bart that the repairs had been completed. I picked up the car this afternoon, and it looked factory fresh. The new bumper fit precisely, and the paint job matched perfectly. Bart was there to point out the work done and to answer any questions. I gave the insurance check that I had received from Allstate, which covered most of the repair costs (Allstate had originally estimated that the bumper could be fixed rather than repaired), and was in and out in no time.
The bottom line is this. Lakeside Chevrolet once again did a superb job on my body work. They kept me informed, they met their schedule, they were very helpful, and they went out of their way to make sure I was a very satisfied customer.
Note: Angie's List vehicle selector doesn't give the option to select a 2013 model year vehicle, so I selected 2012, which is almost identical. But the car was actually a 2013 model.
