A-1 Electrical Service

I requested service via Angie's List on 2/27/15.  I received a response and called the number I was given to set up an appointment.  The phone was answered immediately.  I gave them all the information (location, e-mail, problems).  The young lad told me the electrician being assigned to me was finishing up a job and I was next on the list.  She said they would call me when he was on his way.  They gave me his name and then did something I've never seen or heard of before.  They sent me a picture of the electrician as well as some background information.  Five  minutes later, I received a call that he would be here shortly.  In 10 minutes, here he was.  Wyatt was very pleasant, professional and easy to communicate with about the problems.  He went to work, looking for the exact problem, told me about it, and repaired it.  One of the connecting wires had begun to deteriorate over the years and so he  cleaned up the wiring and got it working again.  Basically the same things was wrong on the other light switch.  Wyatt explained everything he was doing as he went along.  In one hour this morning, I spoke to the A-1 office, setup the appointment, the technician arrived and got the job done.  Outstanding!!!  I will definitely spread the word to friends and neighbors.  An excellent experience!  Thank you, A-1!!!

3 mos. later, the outlet was on fire, burning my chair, carpet, etc., and causing an electrical outage. TXU came, shut off power and cut the wires that caused the fire and said the work was not close to being up to code. TXU said it was one of the worst wiring jobs they had seen. A-1 Electric refused to fix and/or pay for damage. Owner Mr. Short came out to my home after numerous requests and said HE would fix it right for $3,000!!! Mr. Short is incredibly rude, a liar, and I would never have anyone call this company.

We were given a written estimate for two projects at our house. The estimate was long with various scenarios so we asked the technician to explain the associated costs. Upon project completion, A-1 s technician contradicted his verbal explanation of the estimate and duped my wife (a bright woman with an MBA degree) into signing an invoice and paying twice as much. Furthermore, we requested installation of an interior wall-mounted light timer for an exterior spotlight. Instead, the technician persuaded us to use an exterior photo cell attached to the spotlight housing. The photo cell has been problematic: the spotlight turns on in broad daylight. The photo cell does not have a light sensitivity controller. It can only be moved back and forth using its swivel which then creates another problem: passing car headlights cause the photocell to cycle the spotlight on/off. Finally, throughout this ordeal, A-1 ignored my phone calls for help until the BBB was contacted.
