We had a 15 year old Dalmatian who one afternoon was struggling to use her back legs. We took her to a vet in Katy. They suggested options totaling $1000. After reviewing the options and recognizing we had a senior dog we elected to simply take the pain medication and see how she was in the morning. The following morning she was worse and now not only were her bad legs not working but her front legs had given out as well. She was unable to stand and could only lie on her side, she was a dog with neurological problems and suffered from seizures. The vet mentioned that if it was neurological it could result in her being paraplegic. The vet we went to was a high priced place that gave us options that did not make sense for a 15 year old dog with neurological issues. We were there for over 2 hours and we were highly annoyed. We came home and did some research on the internet and found Richmond Animal Hospital. Their website said they prided themselves on taking care of animals like their owners would and making their care affordable. That Saturday morning when our Dalmatian could not walk and looked like she had no life left in her we decided to go to Richmond Animal Hospital. When we arrived they were very caring and compassionate about our situation. They put us in a private room as they could see we were upset. They assisted in carrying our dog into the room and left us in peace until the vet was available. The vet came in and explained what they were going to do as it was obvious she needed to be put down. He stayed in the room throughout the entire time and was overly sensitive to our sadness, he offered his condolences. We then thought that perhaps they would offer affordable teeth cleaning for our 7 year old Chihuahua. The other vet we used to go to charged approximately $700 for a teeth cleaning. We contacted Richmond Animal Hospital and they charged $130 (this included cleaning, mild anesthesia and antibiotics &pain medication). We took our Chihuahua before 9am and picked her up at 3pm. She was perfectly fine and her teeth were sparkling white. It is evident that Richmond Animal Hospital is a practice in a small town that offers veterinary services to families at an affordable price. They are professional and caring. I will no longer go anywhere else.

I highly recommend them. At one point, we had three dogs who lived a very happy old age under their care. They give a wonderful care. Thanks for the veterinary clinic's immediate response to not only symptoms but doing the correct testing. I would continue to use them in the future.

My little female had gotten sick in 2011 and after the new vet had suggested surgery( didn't do), many tests, medications and about 7000.00, she was not any better and I decided I better take her to see Dr. Joe. He took one look at her told me what the problem was, did a few tests and we started her on a medication regime. Three years later, she is now 10 years old and our special little girl.

I will not ever change again.

Dr. Mandola is my hero.

I have been going to Richmond Animal Hospital for almost 4 years now, and have found them to give good care, and don't usually have to wait too long to get back to see them.  I was told last year that my mini schnauzer needed some teeth extractions, as some of his puppy teeth never came out, and the other ones were in as well.  The cost quoted was ~$125.  At the time, I didn't have the extra money, so I put it off.
This year when I took my dog in for the yearly shots, exam, etc., Dr. Joe Mandola saw him.  I told him I couldn't afford it last year, and he said, "Well, there just so happens to be a special on pulling teeth today!"  I'm quite sure there wasn't, but he was so kind, and so nice.  He told me to pick him up in 2 hours, and everything would be done....  Amazing care!  Love, love, love Dr. Mandola!

I had just moved to Richmond and wanted to get a quick consultation on my dog who was having a strange reaction to his heartworm medication.
I called ahead and learned that Richmond Animal Hospital did not take appointments for regular physicals, it was first come first served.
So I went over there with my dog. I checked in at reception, which seemed generally organized, and was instructed to sit and wait with my dog. During this time there were other clients going in an out of the exams, some of whom arrived after I did. It's unclear to me if they had appointments for procedures, which might have been why they were admitted before me. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes before we were taken back to an exam room.
The staff were very professional and approachable, and my dog responded well to them. The vet listened to my concerns and addressed them, explaining what might be happening with my dog. He prescribed a new heartworm medication for my dog and it resolved the problem.
The price seemed generally reasonable - I basically paid about $100 for a six-month supply of heartworm medication and about $20 for the actually intake visit. The entire visit by the time we got out of there was about 1.25 hours.
All in all, the service was fine but it is rare that I can take this amount of time for a vet visit, and not being able to make an appointment adds a lot of uncertainty to the time table.

We normally take our dog and cat here, and we've been very pleased.  The vets are all great with our animals, and the service is always very prompt.  I suspect that there are cheaper alternatives around, but they are very close to our house, which was the primary reason we started going there.  Everything is clean and well-kept, and we rarely have to wait for an appointment.

When we took our friend's dog in, they took us back almost right away and examined him.  They stapled his cut and wrapped it tightly.  When I asked what would happen if he tried to lick or chew the bandage, they offered to put on a "lamp shade" device to keep him from being able to go after the wound.  They did charge us for the "lamp shade", which surprised me a bit, but I suppose they had to buy it from someone.

We continue to use them.

He's new; he just bought the practice from the previous owner who retired. The women that work there are just terrific. He seems to be really good. I have 5 cats and a dog. It costs a fortune. I don't know what other vets charge but they are all expensive. He also has an emergency number that rings directly into his house or cell phone. I've never used it, but he is available.

Dr. Tamas and Dr. Mandola give me all the options for treatment but do not push me to choose a more expensive treatment than I can afford. They are supportive of my choices to keep my dog comfortable without "heroic measures".

In our case, another vet wanted to charge us $5,000. We couldn't afford to treat her so we thought our only option was to put the dog to sleep. Dr. Joe Mandola gave us another option.

Richmond Animal Hospital does a really good job with my cats. They are just as good as one of those high priced fancy places. They are very clean and probably way more caring towards our pets. The kennels seem very clean and are pretty big, They are very reasonable in their price; I pay $12 per day for both cats.

We are pleased with the Veterinarian Hospital. I think Doctor Joe Mandola does a great job. Our pets have received shots there before and have also had surgery done as well. They do a great job and we feel very comfortable taking our dog their.

All the kennels were very clean when we went to drop off our dog. The staff was very friendly with our dogs and the kennels they stayed in were clean and pretty big. The dogs were in good health when we picked them up and seemed happy.

Richmond Animal Hospital takes care of my dog. I have always had a pleasurable experience with them. It is a very inexpensive animal clinic. However, they keep the place very clean, and animal friendly. I am able to just pop in, and they accommodate me with whatever my dog needs. The people do a great job of making our dog comfortable, and calm when he is there.

Richmond Animal Hospital came to me highly recommended. Their boarding is not the Comfort Inn, but it most definitely meets all of my requirements. I took my two dogs, one big dog, one small dog, and a cat to them. They were all healthy, and well fed when I picked them up.
