REMODELING CONCEPTS INC

This contractor was recommended by a friend that has used him to do small jobs around her house and she also had a friend that he did a kitchen for recently. I had no problem scheduling an appointment and he arrived on time. However, he was befuddled since his truck was recently broken into and therefore he didn't have his computer. The whole appointment was him pretty much telling me what he thought I needed to do with the kitchen including rotating the island (which would make it significantly smaller) and straightening a wall. All of his suggestions were more appropriate for a high end neighborhood and well beyond what my neighborhood could support. Eventually he asked what my budget was and he scoffed and said I had to at least double my budget! This is outrageous given that would have meant spending >20% of the value of my home just on the kitchen. There is no way I would ever get the money back out of that high end of a kitchen. It was very disappointing to have him completely ignore what I thought needed to be done. He spent well over an hour and maybe 2 at my house talking with me and telling me what he thought I needed, but in the end, I never received an estimate from him (neither written or verbal). I understand that he is likely used to working in more elite neighborhoods, but it's pretty unprofessional not to follow through with someone. In our conversations, I got the impression that he does very good work, but I guess only if the price is worth his time.
