I first called Martin Mechanical in May because my A/C stopped working just as Houston was heating up!  They came out the next day and it was determined that my A/C unit was out of freon.  They replaced the freon for about $130 and that was the end.  About a month later, I was already out of freon again!  So I called them up and said they need to take a closer look - obviously there is a leak somewhere.  They were at my house the next day and discovered there was a leak, and the coil needed to be replaced.  They replaced the freon (again) and replaced the leaky coil.  They did not make me pay for the freon again, because they should have caught the actual problem the first time.  The part being replaced was under warranty, but the labor charge was $800.  What I really liked about Martin Mechanical is they took care of the warranty for me, rather than making me pay $2,000 for the part, and then getting reimbursed from the warranty later.  They were also very flexible with my schedule.  I don't know what the typical cost is to replace an A/C coil, but assuming $800 is normal just for the labor charge, it was well worth using Martin Mechanical for the ease of them taking care of the warranty claim for me.  My only complaint would be that I wish they had checked the coil the first time around, rather than assuming there was no leak.
