Ideal Carpet & Flooring

I had already purchased the tile so just needed someone to do the installation. Got excellent help picking a grout that best matched the tile. The tilers arrived on time and did a great job removing the old flooring, preparing the floor, and laying the tile. When the work was complete however I noticed that the sliding closet doors no longer slid/moved, the carpet was not cut to match the tile for one bathroom, and their was a noticeable difference between the height of the hall carpet and the new tile in the other bathroom. The tilers told me it was not their job to fix these problems. It was able to fix the closet door problems myself. I however had to call Ideal and schedule another time for their carpet guy to come out and fix the carpet/tile transition issues for the two bathrooms. It was a week later when the carpet guys came out and they did a great job finishing the job. For the price paid I was expecting someone in the original crew to have taken care of these 3 items.

This was the second time that we have used Ideal.  Their performance this time was as outstanding as it was the first time.  We struggled deciding on the flooring product we wanted to use.  Arnold and Rueben both helped us greatly with their recommendation. the selection of grout color, and their patience with us was greatly appreciated.  The installers always arrived on time and Franciso did a great job of supervising the team of installers.  They cleaned up each day before they left.  When the old carpet was taken out, they recommended laying a membrane across the concrete slab to cover the small fractures and to reduce the chance of any future slab movement.  This was a big concern to because we have some giant oak trees in the front yard that draw a lot of moisture from under the slab.  The tile we selected was a wood look like cherry and it was installed in 3 different widths which made the installation more challenging, but they did a great job with alignment and leveling.  When the tile was completely installed, they cleaned the tile with a mild acid wash to remove any residue grout and brought the tile to a final sparkling luster.  I highly recommend this company.

I have waited a while to submit this review. I wanted to make sure that the job has fulfilled all of the things I needed it to be and that I had no problems with the tile installation. The folks in the showroom were very helpful to me. I was torn between hard woods and tile or some combination of both. They worked within my budget and were patient with my dithering between the tile and hardwoods. I went with all tile and the results were great. The tile installer was fabulous. He showed up on time every day (the job took 5 days total) and always cleaned up at the end of the day. The little extra touches he did around my fireplace turned out great. It's great to see what a craftsman that takes pride in his work can accomplish. I'd use these folks again anytime. Highly recommend that you drive over to Richmond and see what these folks have to offer.

They showed up as scheduled and did a great job.  Would definitely use them in the future for any flooring needs.

Very helpful from beginning to end. Stripping of old floor, disposal, and installation of new floor. They were very professional, did an impeccable job and we would definitely use them in the future. My floor is beautiful.

The owner helped with tile selection, his brother-in-law came out to estimate the job and suggest tile arrangement and finishing touches, and Francisco did the work. Everything went well. The estimate was the day after we contacted Ideal, and the actual work was about a week and a half later. The tile setter, Francisco, is very talented and his work greatly exceeded our expectation. The cost of the work was a couple of hundred dollars less than our other estimate (but part of the difference was tile selection).

Ideal was one of three flooring contractors we contacted to get quotes to finish our floors in the house. Arnold responded quickly by coming over and measuring accurately. Now, here's the trick. We wanted to find the exact same laminate we used in the rest of the house 7 years ago. My research indicated that it was discontinued and not only that, the manufacturer, Wilson Arts, got totally out of the flooring business. So when I would mention to contractors that I wanted them to put some effort into finding some leftover stock somewhere, some of them didn't even try or in one case just dropped us altogether. However, later the same day, Arnold called us and let us know he had found enough of it to complete our floors! This was wonderful news to us and we quickly decided to select Ideal Carpet and Flooring. After we cleared out the rooms of furniture and stuff...the guys showed up at 9:00 on a Monday morning. By 12 noon, they had stripped the floors, floated and leveled and left multiple box fans drying the float material overnight. The next morning the guys showed up at 8:30am and by 12:30 pm had completely finished laying 4 rooms worth of floor. The best I can tell, the installation quality appears perfect. We have not found any flaws to the best of our knowledge. Floating is a dusty dirty business, so it does leave a very fine powder that we will be wiping down for some time, but there is just no way around it if your floors are not level. They also performed the necessary concrete moisture test and apprised us of the results. We would unquestionably recommend Ideal Carpet and Flooring and will again be using them soon for a master bath and kitchen renovation. If I had to picky about a negative, it was that getting a hold of someone at Ideal was sometimes difficult. I would leave a voicemail, then have to follow up.

They had to tear out the old laminate floor and replace the treads and risers. This took a couple of days and was an extreme amount of work, but in the end the job was flawless. I love my new staircase, and it matches the rest of the flooring. They were very patient in helping me decide among several options.

Overall, this company did an excellent job. Arnold was very meticulous in measuring for the carpet, and we liked the quality of the carpet. I was able to select the granite personally, so I knew there were no flaws in the material. The final cost was exactly the same as the estimate. The carpet installers were okay - they grumbled about the amount of boxes they had to move out of my closets, but I do have a lot of stuff. I didn't care for their playing loud music while they worked, and they didn't always show up when they said they would, but they did a good job. The granite installers weren't terribly friendly either, but did a good job. The man who installed the tile backsplash was very meticulous and did a great job. I did not realize until he was done that the pleated shade in the kitchen would no longer close all the way because the tile was thicker than the formica it replaced, but that was my fault. We purchased our new undermount sink from Ideal - their price was the same as the hardware store's but better quality. I bought a new faucet from the hardware store and a new gas cooktop. We had to get a plumber to install these, but they had to be here when the counters were measured so the holes could be cut properly. The company owners were very helpful. They even helped us find a motel that accepted pets to stay in while the painters were here. I thought that was over and above the call of duty!

This was the most trouble free job we have had at this house. The crew arrived on time, and started working immediately. The supervisor spoke with me for a while, to be polite, which he was, and then started helping his crew. They could have done it faster, but they wanted to do a good job, so it took most of the day. The new flooring makes the kitchen and bathroom look ten years younger, and increases the light in the kitchen.

Ideal did a wonderful job on our kitchen, at a price that was much less than any other company we spoke with. They are a family owned and run business. We have had better luck with those types of companies, than the larger companies. They were very personable and attentive to our opinions. This meant they did some things they did not completely agree with. Their workers were never late, and finished the job in less than four days.
