8/19/2023 This is a follow up review on a patio cover i had constructed on my home by Houston Patio Covers. This company built a beautiful patio cover on my home about 6 or 7 years ago about a year ago a noticed an uneven look on the patio as if it seemed to settle on one side.I contacted the company's owner Dylan Hamilton and asked him to come take a look at it he texted me back and asked for photos and i informed him that a photo would not show what i was concerned about. He said he would come out and take a look at it and never showed.I Called him again and left a message and he still have'nt contacted me this is no way to treat your customers.

We SPCIFICALLY ASKED if they would pull the permits or if that was something we needed to do as homeowners. They said that they would take care of it. We were told everything was okay, but Houston Patio covers did not pull any permits. Without this, all of the work was unverified and all of the construction that we had undertaken & paid for had to be torn down. We were able to get a refund from the company, but the waste of time was not something they could give back. They also destroyed one of the slabs that was already existing before they started the work. We asked them to replace this but they refused to do this.
Response from Houston Patio Covers Inc
"This specific project I paid a third party subcontractor to pull permits, paid the sub, and never heard from him again. I did however have engineer stamped drawings made and expected him to handle the permits once those were handed to him and a copy for the homeowner. I was wrong for not double checking to make sure permits were pulled. After I got word from Mrs. [Member Name Removed] that the HOA application had been approved I proceeded figuring the building line in their backyard wouldn't be a problem. I did however refund all of her money and that incident will never happen again with this company. I pull all permits PERSONALLY now. I apologize for the poor management on my end. -Dylan Hamilton"

I had an awesome experience with this company. The patio was very reasonably priced and looks absolutely amazing. Dylan was very attentive and professional and he has a great crew working with him. My patio was only supposed to take about 7 days to complete but it rained 2 or 3 days during that week so it ended up getting delayed a couple of times. I was supposed to have a house party and the delay was going to make it so the patio wouldn't be done in time. Dylan really helped me out and was able to move some stuff around and get the patio done in time. That was really big of him and I really appreciate it. I have had the patio for about 3 months now and it is still just as amazing as when we got it.

Pros: Fair pricing, hard working, friendly (including the different crews), helpful, attentive and professional.

Cons: The only real con is that I had some trouble scheduling setting a firm start date.  It wasn't really Dylan's fault because it was a very rainy time of year and he is managing multiple crews around the city at one time but it was frustrating.

Best construction experience we ever had. Dylan's crew took three days from start to finish. The cover looks like part of the original home. When the crew left the trash was cleaned up and the fan was running. Paint and shingles match perfect. Crew was efficient and polite. Very nice job.

I would definitely reccomend these guys to anyone that is considering getting a patio cover built. The patio cover they built looks exactly like it was built as part of the house when originally constructed. They took time to make sure that every detail was perfect and the cover turned out beautifully. Dylan, the owner of the company was very responsive and helped answer any questions we had before construction began. The carpenters worked quickly, and didn't leave any mess at all. I will call these guys again if I ever need anything similar built.

They did a fabulous job! We are extremely happy with the job they did. They were very responsive to all of our questions. They even installed 2 ceiling fans at no additional charge! Highly recommend this company. The patio looks as if it was part of the original house. We could not be happier!!!
Sincerely, Mary Hodge - Houston, Texas

The quality of their work was exceptional. Every one of their subcontractors: the framer, electrician and gutters did exceptional work as well. It was just amazing; the precision of their work, every cut, every nail, every board went in perfect. I was 100 percent pleased. They were more expensive than some other bids but in this case you get what you pay for. I will use them again in the future.

I had a nice alumawood patio cover installed with spit and a couple of nails about 10 years ago. It was connected precariously to the house via the facia and the gutter. It looked good for a year or two, then became quite ugly as the mildew/algae began to cover the aluminum material. As the years wore on, the cover only got uglier, the weight tearing up the wood trim of the house. I eventually had to prop it up with a wood post. Imagine how lovely that looked. Houston Patio Covers tore down the sad, poorly installed ugly patio cover and built a beautiful patio cover, totally integrated with the house and the roof line. It is a full foot higher than the old cover and the patio no longer feels like a cave. It looks like it was built with the house in 1968, not in 2010. It was completed with canned lighting, ceiling fans, cable hook-up, speaker wires, and extra power outlets. I will never worry about a storm or hurricane sweeping the patio cover off my home and into the neighbors yard. Houston Patio Covers completed the job within the time estimate. In addition to the contracted work, Houston Patio Covers also installed a couple of light fixtures that I had purchased, even though the fixtures were not exactly connected to the patio. I was very pleased with the entire construction process. Don't assume that a landscaping company that builds patio covers has a clue about constructing a safe, solid structure. Find someone like Houston Patio Covers that specializes in patio covers. I have enjoyed many mornings and evenings on my patio and would highly recommend Houston Patio Covers to make that dream come true for you!

Initially, my impression was good. I had read numerous reviews about previous work performed by this company so we decided to go with them. The crew was fairly prompt and worked hard though only one of the three spoke any English and that was broken. Bob Hamilton, the owner showed up only a couple of times during the 2-3 days of work. After pushing me to get proper approval from the home association (which I did), he promised to get the required building permits, etc. but I never saw any evidence that he actually did. His "architectural drawings" looked like something a 5 year old had done and I was surprised to find out later that he wasn't going to provide a 20' soffit that was uniform with the rest of the house. Because of that, we ended up with this small jog that looks like someone misjudged the job and just plain non-professional. Overall, I was pretty pleased with the work done and the crew worked hard. There was one very annoying thing however and that was a non-matching ridge cap that was installed on the patio. The color was gold when the rest of the roof was a dark (bark) brown. Bob (the owner) said the right color was out of stock but promised to make it right. But after months of waiting and repeated calls, it never got fixed. In fact, he lied to me on at least two occasions telling me he had come by to do the work but I wasn't home. I was home however... He also called me one night claiming the work had been completed and I told him no, no one had come by and done anything. He told me to check which I did and sure enough, same off-color ridge cap so I told him so. He then said "they must have went to the wrong house". That was my limit with this clown so I gave up, learning a valuable lesson in the process. I would not recommend Houston Patio Covers to my friends or neighbors ever. In the end, I had to pay to have a roofer come out and replace the ridge cap so it would match the rest of the house. Bottom line: once Bob Hamilton got his money, he was done even though the job was never completed.

I had had two deck builders look at the existing deck and both offered to rebuild a deck for twice the price. I suspect that once they pulled up the existing deck floor, the cost to fix the water problem would have been added to the estimate. Bob did not charge me for coming out to look at the deck and gave me some valuable information that I really needed to know. Now we are following his advice and will be fixing our problem.

Bob's Custom Decks did an excellent job, and did great work building the deck and dock. I like the big crew that they came out with and the fact that they always cleaned up. The workers were helpful and delightful to be around, which is a surprise to me. The product is holding up well to this day. I would call them back if anything ever went wrong.
