AMERI-AIRE HEATING & COOLING

This was a home warrenty service call due to upstairs AC unit constantly on and not cooling. Our normal heating & AC service company tool me the compressor and coil of the upstairs unit needed to be replaced for $6,000. Ameri-Aire was the AC & heating service that our home warrenty company sent to fix the AC problem. After two service calls and parts our upstairs unit was back on-line. The upstairs AC unit compressor had been wired incorrectly. Our home warrenty servuce fee was $75.oo. However, I estimate the repair to cost $300-$400. Due the diagnostic effort of the Ameri-Aire technician they saved our home warrent company at least $5,000.

This was a warranty replacement through home warranty. The original Ameri-Aire quote included "extra" modifications ($375), freon disposal ($75), unit disposal ($75). My warranty company decided to pay for the modification charges. Then, I told Ameri-Aire that I did not need them to dispose of the unit. They refused to do the work without the unit disposal fee. It would be illegal for a contractor to claim that they are mandated by the state to remove the unit. It never got to that point, but they were forcing me to pay them to dispose of it by requiring it as part of the job. You may dispose of the unit yourself and you can make $35-50 by bringing it to the scrap dealer I'm told. Or you can offer to let them remove it for free. The Lic. and Reg. will back you up on this. My warranty company ended up reimbursing me for the unit disposal. I felt it was unethical for Ameri-Aire to require me to pay them for the unit removal.

This service company was provided through our home warranty company. The subcontractor came out promptly and performed work efficiently. It took 5 days to order our new unit and get it installed after first contact with them. Price is marked ''N/A'' because it was mostly covered by the home warranty company.
