PROMENADE CLOCKS

Had several antique striking pendulum clocks in need of repair. PromanadeClockShop repaired them all. It is run by a family with a true love for clocks and it shows. They aren’t the fastest but they are the best.

They didn't know what they were doing, and glad the clock didn't get damaged.

I had to return two of the clocks for issues occurring after repair. One clock was kept for several months for the second repair. I have had these clocks for more than 30 years and had them repaired/reworked before without a problem. Suddenly, I experienced issues with two of the clocks after they were "overhauled" by Promenade Clocks. The price for repair was not far from the retail value of the clock, which I found very high. In addition, like most clock repair shops they don't want to just fix a problem. They want to do a total overhaul for several hundred dollars. I found this frustrating.

This is a family business and everyone in the family is involved in clocks, from the father, to several brothers, and their sister. They have several shops in several states. It is obvious from the time one walks in that they LOVE clocks, know them, and will care for them.

They repaired the clock well, offered additional tips to keep it running, and completed everything ahead of schedule. We were happy with this small, family-owned business. One tip - they do not have a fancy point of sale system. You may need to ask for a copy of the drop-off paperwork as your service ticket.

We've now taken the clock in 3 times. It still doesn't work. On Wed 1/20/16 my housekeeper was told they would call me. It is now 1/24 and I haven't received a call. I give up. I would like to have my $250 refunded. I will take the clock to another clock repair shop.

You sent me an to my complaint, asking if I had paid $ or she had provided a service. Your message said that if neither had happened there was no reason for a complaint. NO - She has my family heirloom antique clock. I want it back; even if it's still broken. She has something of great value to me. I am very concerned that she is ignoring my attempts to contact her. Very nice people. We took the repaired clock home and after a week it was running 15 minutes fast. so we took it back and they fixed it again. A week later still running fast. Had enough!

They did very well. I will be coming back.

I took my clock into the store. They immediately inspected it. Determined the problem. This Glock was inherited, so I did not know all the ins and outs of it. He explained the various options and functions. I will definitely go back again!

They helped diagnose problem with grandfather clock. Gave me valuable info on it. Will take it back in future, when necessary.

We purchased our Grandfather clock from Promenade clocks in 1984, and they have serviced it ever since. We recently acquired a nice (mechanical) mantle clock at a garage sale, and due to age and wear, it was due for an overhaul. The fact that we purchased our Grandfather clock at Promenade Clocks almost 30 years ago should in itself speak volumes. The place is still in business today! And, the clockmakers (technicians) know their craft, and are well-qualified to service and repair the finest mechanical movements. Fred is a next-generation clockmaker, having learned his craft from his father. Sadly, not many skills such as this are being passed down from generation to generation anymore. The price? Some may consider it a bit and quot;expensiveand quot;, but consider this: as the old saying goes, you usually get what you pay for. Skilled work by a craftsman still costs good money; some things can't (and shouldn't) be cheapened by reduced quality. In summary, we've been doing business with Promenade Clocks - still a family-owned business - for many years, now, and have never been disappointed. We can definitely recommend them as people who know the business of fine clocks.

I took my mother's 1950-1960's electric clock in for cleaning and a new cord. I was a little surprised by the cost of $150 but they did tell me that up front. We agreed the clock would be ready after we returned from vacation at the end of July but they completed it early. It appears they did a good job as the clock keeps good time and has a new cord. I do think the price was a little high but I was willing to pay it based on the reviews from Angie's List.

I had a table clock that stop working we took it in. They replaced the movement. The price was very fair. The work was fast and accurate and also they got a watchmaker and I asked him if he could service my omega Seamaster since it's running slowly so he took it and I pick up the Seamaster. He polished it, he cleaned it, he rebalanced it its running like a new watch and I'm very pleased with that service. It only cost me only $275. They did a great job.

Brought in a clock from the 1898. Clock did not work right and the casing was broke. They repaired the clock casing, fixed the internal working parts, cleaned the clock and explained the workings of the clock. They were great to work with.

Fred arrived at my Mother-in-law's, by himself, and prepared an 8 ft tall grandfather clock for a move, moved it down a flight of stairs, loaded it in his van and transported it to my home. He then set up the clock, took a great deal of time balancing and being sure the clock ran right. He then oiled and got 3 of my antique wall clocks running, one of which has not run since we moved to Plano 4 years ago. He inspected the clocks made sure all was well. His care with my cherished clocks was wonderful - such as using cotton gloves when handling he brass weights and pendulums. I will use him for all my clock repair, as a matter of fact he took my German Cuckoo clock to repair.

The estimate was higher by $30 than the other one I got, And I was careful to make sure it was for the exact work. The thing that turned me off was the guy in the back who came up to look at the clock. He had a cigarette in his hand and he was very unkempt. I don't expect uniforms or anything, but a neat appearance gives a different impression than the one I got from seeing him. He was just not at all professional. I went with a different repair service.

It keeps perfect time now! He was wonderful and showed me how to adjust the clock if it was too fast or too slow. He was very knowledgeable about clocks - his family has been in the business for years.

Other repair places I called needed several weeks to complete the work. Promenade clocks did the work in a week. Clock works perfectly like it is brand new and work comes with a two year guarantee. Very pleased.

Fred had to come quite a distance so we had to pay an extra travel charge, but it was worth it. He took his time and very meticulous, answered all our questions and gave us good tips. This clock means a lot to us and it is very clear that Fred knows a lot about clocks and loves his job. We would definitely use them again. In fact, we have a smaller antique clock that they are working on now.

Work completed: He came on time. He looked at it and explained what was right, what was wrong. He was careful to show and discuss there was nothing literally broken. Plus he showd me how he was correcting it. His approach was devoid of smoke and mirros of a previous clock repair company I used. He fixed it, oiled it, leveled it. Probably in three years, I'll have to take it to him for a general cleaning as it's 'only' 33 years old. I showed him another grandfather clock that my father got in Germany in 1956. To me, it hasn't worked for a few decades. He gave me his assessment. Again, not broken which I'm sure is a big expense. He can repair it as it's just old and dusty - like me! - for a very reasonable estimate. I also have a 400 day glass encased clock from Germany 1956 that needs cleaning and new oil. Years ago, I received an estimate of about $600+ to clean and fix it. Promenade was way way below that estimate. Given him fixing my Grandfather clock and dicussion on the 1956 Grandfather, I trust Promenade to clean the German 400 day clock - plus at a huge discount to the other company. Promenade also does watches. My Breitling needs general cleaning and fresh oil after 10+ years. A previous estimate was for $600 and then more for 'anything they find.' Promende's estimate was way way below that. To me, there is no contest on trust, quality and price of Promenade for the two grandfather clocks, the one 400 day clock and my watch. I highly recommend Promenade Clocks and Gifts.

We had someone come out to the house and he repaired the wall clock and it runs beautifully and he took the clock portion back to the shop and had it repaired and then returned it to us. Both clocks are working great and we are very pleased with the service and repairman who did the house calls.

This was an exceptionally clock repair person and we will use him in the future.
