"I can believed that you post this, I did so much work for you, you trust me and my guys in you house, we did everything to make you happy, we talk about my kids your family, and I told you that I was a very busy at that moment, and you posting this, I am very sorry that you feel that way."
The foreman was good, when he was around. If not, you couldn't really communicate with the workers to give them any instruction unless you speak Spanish. Aside from all that, the work went pretty well the first couple of days. But when the job stretched out longer than they'd anticipated, it seems that they pulled their regular crew and just sent out someone green. The quality of work on the last day was sloppy, rough grout on the corners of the floor, etc. They were in a hurry to put the glass sliding door frame back onto the tiles, which had not fully set up. The result is that the frame made one of the tiles bow out at a weird angle, instead of lying flush like it should. It bugs me every time I take a shower, the edge looks like it's dirty.
I hate to leave non-positive reviews, but if I'm being honest, this was my experience. Maybe yours would be different. As I said, they seemed like nice guys, just got in too big a hurry.
We had two showers and a kitchen floor re-tiled in 2013. The showers look amazing and the tile work is first class. But during the following year the kitchen floor grout began to crack. I'm not sure if this is due to movement in the house or bad grout. We can't find out because Arturo Meras will not return our calls or follow back up. We finally spoke with him in September 2014 and he asked that we text him our address and he would schedule a visit to look at it. We never heard back. Several months have passed trying to reach him and we are giving up. Either he is avoiding us because he has more profitable work, or he is severely unorganized. Both are bad.
He promises a 1 year warranty on all work. However, because he hasn't returned our calls I do not consider him standing up to his guarantee. It's too bad because we really liked his work and had more jobs planned for him for the future. Now we will find another provider that will hopefully have better business management skills.
After we closed, I had a design that combined stone and wood in a more modern aesthetic. I contacted several vendors regarding installing my design and doing the backsplash. The fireplace is a two-story fireplace and I wanted the stacked stone to go to about a foot under the ceiling beams.
A few vendors could do both jobs (kitchen glass tile backsplash and stacked stone fireplace), but a few could only do one of the jobs. The other issue was that I wanted it done sooner, rather than later. After my other bids, I decided to contact Meras Tile based on the good Angie's List reviews. I wondered if I would actually get in contact with him since most of the reviews said he seemed busy. He called me back the next day to set up an appointment. Arturo was nicely dressed, personable and was a consummate professional. He gave several suggestions regarding my ideas and the installation of both my FP and backsplash ideas. We tossed around a few "what if's" and he said he would get me a bid in a couple of days. When I received the bid, Arturo's price was in the middle. I decided on Arturo because of his personality, knowledge and we just seemed to think alike. I supplied the stack stone and backsplash glass material and he supplied everything else that would be needed for the install. He came by to pick up a check for half the bid.
I had to delay their start because the tile I had ordered for the backsplash did not come in on time and my carpenter had not finished installing the fireplace mantel. Arturo rescheduled for me and thankfully was able to get me worked in a few days later. Like I said, he was awesome! Arturo mentioned it would take about 2-3 days to complete (with one day being the grouting after the tiles had set). Arturo arrived with his guys and directed and gave instructions about what to do. He did measurements on backsplash and decided the best way to lay it since I had changed the tile from a 2 x 2 mosaic to a 2 x 12 glass tile.
Arturo's team showed up on time each day and took care to protect my hardwood floors with canvas tarp. They completed the job on time and it looked wonderful. After they did such a good job, I asked him about doing the floor in the wet bar upstairs. He took a look and I told him I was waiting to decide what vendor we would use for the granite. He said he could do that. I wish I had known because we could have knocked that out at the same time. I told him to bid me a Level 2 granite price. He gave me the name of his granite supplier, I went to select the stone and ended up picking a Level 1 granite. His bid was actually a little higher than the vendor I was thinking of going with, but since I had seen the quality of his work team, I decided to pay more, just to have Meras Tile do the job. I decided to ask if he had an electrician and he uses one that also came to hang new lights in our media room and in our 20 foot ceiling Living Room. Everyone did a good job.
There were just a couple of minor glitches. The granite guys damaged the wall when trying to put in the heavy granite piece. Arturo had someone come by to fix it. They did an okay job, but it was still noticeable. I had a painter come and fix it later. The canvas drops on the floor did not protect my floors from dust. It seeped through the weave of the canvas and left a layer of dust everywhere it was placed. I suggested Arturo have his guys lay plastic under the canvas next time when installing on hardwood floors. Otherwise, his crew did a great job cleaning up after themselves each day. Arturo's crew were friendly and helpful. I tipped all of his workers each day and would use them again in a heartbeat.
His crew cleaned up or at least ordered their work area every day and they were able to work around granite counter top installation, carpet installation, and movers bringing in our furnishings. Probably the best thing about the experience was the final walk through. That allowed my outstanding questions to get answered. He explained how I can clean up any future grout spots I might find, gave me tips and suggestions for care and maintenance of the tile.
Perhaps the biggest "like" for me was the communication. When I saw something that didn't look right or I had a question I just had to call Arturo and he'd explain it or say "let me call my guys right now" and he'd take care of the problem. It was clean, professional, and timely. There was never any finger pointing or blame going back and forth; he approached the job like we were on the same team and we had a common goal.
All in all I was incredibly pleased with the work and the relationship and would recommend them without hesitation to others that are looking for a quality job, done right.
"I want to tank you [member name removed] for all your words and complements.our team goal is to satisfied as much as we can you needs. Thank you for your trust"
"Thank you [removed member name] to you and your wife for the opportunity, we are happy to see this review. my team and I goal is to all ways do our best for our clients"
"[member name removed], i want to thank you for your report, i will try not to make this mistakes with my future customers. my team and I, we really like what we do, thats why i only have to tell them once about the installation, thank you again for your trust"
The installation itself was great, and the crew was very tidy and finished the job on time.
Arturo told us that if we had any problems to call back and they would come out and take care of them. We have several areas where the grout doesn't look "dry" and is darker than the rest of the grout. Called Arturo three times and left message of the problem and that we'd like to have him come back out and look at it. Never heard back or received a return phone call.
time he spends with his clients is what separates him from your average
installer. I knew of his reputation and he was the only installer in
Dallas I believe could handle the challenge of such difficult porcelain
tile to work with. We met several times to review the job, he bought
specific blades to cut this expensive tile properly, he was on time and
his experience shows in the end. He went well above and beyond to make
the bathroom look incredible and I would highly recommend him to anyone
who wants the finest quality job with a contractor who is responsive to
clients and genuinely cares about your final product. He is well worth
the extra to not have any sleepless nights.
through the ceiling. Meras responded quickly to our call and we had a
bid within a few days. They started the job as soon as we said "go" and
worked three long days to finish it quickly. They didn't try to talk us
into completely redoing the shower as other contractors had, but
recommended that we replace the shower pan and a foot up of tile from
the wall. They matched the existing tile perfectly. Their craftsmanship
was excellent and they kept the work area clean at all times. They were
polite and considerate and punctual. We would highly recommend them.
The Meras guys did a fine job with the installation and finishing of the tile and the grout.
The only negative I can say is that to date I have still not received a formal quote, invoice, or any other paperwork from Meras. All I have is a text message with the agreed upon pricing.
Meras Tile set a date to begin in 2 weeks and began on time. Arturo spent a lot of time listening to my desires, and making suggestions of the best way to accomplish this. He also offered his opinions on how to improve on my design. I was thrilled that I took his suggestion to update the drain, it makes such an elegant difference which I hadn't expected. Arturo spent quite a while, several hours, with his crew, laying out the tiles to get all the grout lines where they would look best. It was time well spent. His crews was very polite, and paid attention to keeping everything clean as they worked in and out of the house. They laid out a path of cardboard, so they never tracked mud from their tasks of mixing mortar. The tile setter for the shower was an artist, and truly took great care to lay out the decorative boarder perfectly, making the fewest cuts, and installing them where they didn't show. I spent time carefully laying out my boarder in the "random" pattern I wanted, and then showed Mario. He made sure he understood, and then followed exactly. They were efficient and timely and did an excellent job! I decided to have them tile my other bathroom immediately, because it was such a pleasure to work with his team.
I have already had Arturo's team back to do some additional work that I added, and I will no doubt include their services as other projects arise. I recommend Meras Tile wholeheartedly.
"Thank you Member for your report, we are glad that you and your family are happy about all the work that we did for you. we are here to do what we like, and this comments motivate us to continue our quality work thank you again"
I obtained several bids to tile my bathroom. Meras Tile was right in line with the other bids, and actually might have been the least expensive, but the price was not the reason I chose Meras TIle. Apparently not all "tile" people are artisans. The other people I interviewed seemed like I was asking for a lot or did not seem very confident. I knew the minute I met Arturo he was going to be the artisan for my project. He is very professional and instantly instilled my confidence. He never seemed overwhelmed by my requests or questions. He workers were professional and polite.
I chose white tile with a combination of 3 different accent tiles at the top of the walls, just below the mudcap, also a color accent at the bottom of the wall, just above the sanitary tiles. The shower also had an accent band that went through the shower. Arturo helped me figure out the design for the backsplash and the shower.
Anytime I had any questions or wanted an adjustment, he was ready to accommodate. I have a large family and will reccommend Arturo for all of their tile work. Do not look any further for a "tile guy".
