B & R CUSTOM REMODELING INC

I really would like people not to use them. We had to have the whole job completely redone. It was just a disaster. Both the installation and the workers were bad. The workers left their dirty sweaty shirts in my house. They left cigarette butts and Coke cans in my yard. When they were removing the window, they just took a sledgehammer and bashed the bricks out on our house, instead of cutting them with a saw. Then, when they put the new sliding glass door in, they tried to frame it and hide all of the bashed away bricks with 6-inch wide pieces of Pine wood. We're in Texas and our whole house is bricks. We don't have any Pine on our house. The windows were crooked. They used corner molding to try to mold the door. We finally decided to wave our hands and scream, "Stop. Get away from our house. Don't touch anything else. You are destroying our home." Then the guy put a lien on us so we wouldn't be able to sell our house or do anything unless we paid him. He wanted all of the money even though we asked him to leave and he was half-way done. He said if we didn't pay him the entire $7750, he wouldn't remove the lien on our house. It was horrible. It was really, really bad. We actually had to get a lawyer involved. We settled for half. We paid for half of the work so that he wouldn't do the lien and then had to have a lawyer sign off on it. So, we had lawyer's fees. Then, we had to save up for three years to afford to have somebody else come in. They had to tear all of it completely out and start completely over. They have huge billboards around Dallas. I would say, "Stay away from that guy." I don't even want him near my property ever again. He was so nasty.

With the notable exception of installing the attic stair, the work was done on time and done very well. We are very pleased with the workmanship on the siding, painting, and gutters. Our 9 year old fence looks like new, although I had to finish the work that was not done to repair 6-8 loose boards on our gate. We had some issues with the windows which were not B & R's fault. Apparently Simonton did not accurately record the measurements for one of our windows, and the installer removed the window to be replaced only to discover the new window did not fit. That set us back a week in getting the windows finished. Our biggest frustration was getting them out to install the new attic stair. I felt like I was given the run around and they failed to show when I took a day of vacation to be home for the installation. After much persistence on my part and taking a second vacation day, the attic stair was installed and meets my expectations. Responsiveness, however, was disappointing.
