The crew took down the deck and preceded to break up the concrete patio so they could enlarge it . They had exposed a drain pipe and somehow poked a hole in the pipe. One of the workers went to his truck and got a plastic bag and wrapped it around the pipe and covered it with dirt , meanwhile another worker saw that I was watching them and they uncovered the pipe and bought another piece of pipe to replace it. If I hadn't been watching they would have gotten away with it. I told the boss about it and he didn't seem to be too concerned about it. Overall I'm very pleased with the deck and they cleaned their mess up everyday before leaving. The house is 2 stories and the basment is a walk out basement so the deck is covering the patio and the deck underneath is enclosed. We still have an issue with the water running underneath the deck between the top of the deck and the enclosed part. which is enclosed with Hardyboard and I'm afraid that he water will eventually ruin the boards. I have called Robert numerous times and he says he'll be out but never shows up or calls. The deck is beautiful and I've had several compliments on it and I would like for them to replace the front porch in the future. I'd love to show off our new deck and patio to anyone that wants to see it.
Description of Work: tear down the old deck (2 story house with deck going around 3 sides) and take out the concrete patio and expand it from 8ft to 10 ft and replace deck and also build a small retaining wall.

. He answered his phone when I called him that was nice and he came when he was supposed to be there. He gave me a written estimate just as he said that he would. He did show me some pictures of the work he had completed. But his estimate was higher than what I wanted to pay so I went with a different person. I will consider using him in the future.
Description of Work: . I received an estimate from Dallas Deck & Gazebo to put up a back fence and to put the back and front deck

It was very well constructed. They worked very well. They were very professional. It was good quality work. I have had a lot of stuff done so far and they did quality stuff. They were slow, but that wasn?t a problem for me.
Description of Work: Dallas Deck & Gazebo replaced my deck and constructed a new gazebo for me about a month ago.

Robert does BEAUTIFUL work. He has great attention to detail. He spent a lot of time with us assessing exactly what our needs were beforehand and was very flexible about changes along the way. It took more time than estimated because his crew had to complete another project in the middle of ours but we had made it clear to him that we were not under time constraints. I was able to text or call him any time and he usually got back to me in a matter of minutes. We found the cost of the project to be very reasonable given the amount of work involved and the quality of the finished product.
Description of Work: We hired this company to do a deck renovation and window-to-door conversion on our 85 year old house. They built out a 12X18 foot composite-material deck extension including handrail and 10 feet wide stairs, added a 12X21 foot roof and added recessed lighting and ceiling fans, and removed a set of (original) windows and replaced it with a french door leading to the deck addition.

They gave us a good price but we haven?t done it yet. They came on time when they said they were going to come. We didn?t realize how much the fence would cost so we haven?t budgeted for it yet but we are considering using them.

It went okay overall. There were several delays causing the job to take longer than first promised, but with this type of construction, I think some delays are to be expected. First, the truck that they used to haul the old decks to the dump in had a flat. Later, he ran out of wood and the place he buys it from was out, so we had a couple of days delay before more wood came in. After tearing out the deck by the pool, we discovered some of the conduit for some wiring was corroded and needed to be replaced. Robert got it fixed and all the wiring checked over by an electrician at a very good price. Getting that done for me was a big plus. He also accidentally broke some piping to the pool sweep pump and got that fixed. I recommend checking everything every day after the workers have left. I found water left on on at least one occasion. The last step was staining the decks. The decks look great. He did do a good job.
Description of Work: They tore out old decks at back door and around pool and replaced them with new redwood decks. The one at the back door was the same configuration as the old one and encountered no problems with the new construction. The one by the pool was basically the same as the old one, too. It required the deck to cover the pool equipment, have an access door to the pool pump, have a box to contain the filter, timer and other equipment.

Another great experience with Robert. He really thought through the arbor in the front. It is the main focal point of the house, so it needed to be perfect. He put a pitch on it so the water would run off correctly. The entire thing is built from ruff cut cedar, and turned out beautiful. I was so happy with the end result. The work on the deck is great, was very good with putting the screws in, they are lined up so very well, that they do not cause any type of visual problem. These guys are true artists, they listened to what I wanted the new arbor to be like, added their own suggestions. I was perfectly comfortable with leaving them to do the job once they got started. When things came up, they would call me and go over it. We did have to have them come over and explain one issue they were having as we couldn't visualize it. Their suggestion to overcome it worked perfectly.
Description of Work: Did two things on this visit. Removed and replaced an arbor on the front of the house. This consisted of about 420 feet of cedar. Stained the arbor before putting it together. Put a polycarbonate cover over the entire arbor. Second thing done, was to clean and stain approx. 1200 square feet of deck, benches and steps. Also screwed down the entire deck as it was originally built with finish nails and was creaking very loudly.

I was very impressed with Robert. He is a real craftsmen as opposed to someone that just slaps up another wooden fence. He came out twice before work started, one to look it over and get a estimate, and the second time, to go over everything with me step by step. I was nervous about this as its a focal point on the house, and I wanted a fence with a straight top, as it is also a focal point from some very large windows in the back yard. Robert takes his time, and I at least think does the work the way he would if it was his own house.
Description of Work: Torn down old fence and arbor. Removed about a 7 ft by 17 ft area of concrete. Built new cedar fence about 38ft by 6ft tall with 1 gate. Put in iron gate in a opening between two brick walls. Built new arbor approx 10ft by 10ft over the same iron gate and brick walls.
