McClure arrived promptly, and did the work in reasonable time. Note that the test was paid for by the foundation people (I was not billed directly).
All of the employees were professional and nice to deal with. They told us when they would be at our house and when they would return the next day. They made sure we understood what our options were (replacing all the sewer pipes throughout the house (all were cast iron and were rusting out or patching the ones that were broken). We got pricing before they started any work and the pricing seemed more reasonable than the original pricing we received from other companies. Even though they are located in Greenville, they do a lot of work in the Dallas area and their location did not seem to shorten the day's work. We would definitely use them again for our plumbing needs and highly recommend them.
Monday afternoon Danny McClure and assistant showed up. They were friendly and professional and addressed all of my concerns. They found the bad PVC connection and were just about done when my leaky shower seeped water down the pipe and ruined the PVC glue. Needless to say they were unhappy and considered staying to try the repair again but it was already pretty late. The pipe was repaired enough to use, but had the potential to still leak and Danny didn't like that. He promised to be back the next day to cut it out and fix it again.
On Tuesday, Danny and team were back. This time they turned the incoming water off for a short time to make sure the leaky faucet didn't ruin their work. When they were done, Danny took a look at the faucet and fixed it right up for us! They waited most of the afternoon for the City Inspector, who found no problems and quickly signed off on their work.
Wednesday morning Gabiel was back with a new partner. They back filled the tunnel and packed it in with a stamping tool as they went along. When finished, they moved the extra dirt to wherever I wanted.
Bottom line, I was extremely anxious about having this work done. I called their office several times with what now seems like silly "NEWB" questions about what was going to happen and what about their insurance, etc. The woman I spoke with in the office, Michelle, answered all my questions and never made me feel stupid for asking dumb questions. Thank you Michelle!
McClure Plumbing took very good care of me and were a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend them to friends and family.
The 3 crews were very professional. They were all very skilled in their trade, pleasant to have around (even for 5 days!) and the man who came back to fill the tunnels back was so careful and thorough with the packing that he was able to add more dirt than was removed initially! Could not have been more impressed! If only the foundation company packed their access holes that well!
We will definitely use McClure plumbing for any future plumbing needs (and we expect to have many) because we feel they are very fair on pricing, reliable, do the job right and are pleasant and professional to work with.
Long story short, after much discussion with both the crew leader and the owner of the company - Mr. McClure, the crew eventually provided a piece of wooden board to put over the wet concrete, and my husband found a couple of planks of 2 x 4 to rest the board on, so we had a make-shift walkway across the hole.
We also noticed that the nails from the exposed carpet gripper were left sticking straight up. A very big hazzard, particularly for our dog. I asked the crew leader if he would do something to make the exposed carpet gripper safe - maybe cover it at least, but he did not do so. So, we had to deal with that ourselves also.
The last straw for me, was a large purple stain and splashes up the wall in the entrance hall after the work was completed. The stain is purple and is a rubbery material, and impossible to scrub out. When I pointed this out to the crew leader, I was told it was the plumbers' responsibility, and since he had left they couldn't be responsible for it.
We paid the remaining half of the cost eventually, because it was late in the day and not only were we exhausted from arguing with them, but the guys who had been working in the heat without A/C all day needed to get home. I asked the crew leader if he was allowed to leave without receiving the remaining payment from us, and he told me he wasn't!
I have rated the work an overall C because to the best of my knowledge, the repair to the septic pipe was carried out satisfactorily, which was the main thing, and I believe they did a good job with that. However, finishing up and securing the area afterward was extremely poor in my opinion, and I would rate that a D at best!!
"At McClure Plumbing Company we strive for 100% customer satisfaction. We are never pleased to hear that a customer was not 100% satisfied and we do our best to go over and beyond to correct any issues that may have arrived during such an evasive slab repair. All terms and conditions are listed on our contracts for customers to read and approve by signature before any work is performed. Unfortunately after the repair work was completed the customer was unpleased with the repair process that was explained during an onsite estimate. We deeply apologized for any misunderstandings, and we believe we went over and beyond expectations to rectify the issue that the customer had."
"We are always pleased to hear a customer is satisfied with our company. We sincerely thank you for your business and look forward to serving you in the future."
