I don't know if it's incompetence, laziness, or just outright corporate malfeasance, but Texas Star Painting managed to screw up every aspect of a very small and straight-forward project. Out of four contractor companies on my property working on completely different projects (siding, gutters, fascia boards, plumbing), they were the only ones who delivered less than satisfactory work, caused damages, left construction waste behind for several days, had a broken down truck, and then even tried to ask for more money than what they originally quoted, despite leaving the job UNFINISHED. TSP's satisfaction guarantee is a bunch of lies as they were clearly not worried about my satisfaction. I'm not even a perfectionist. I would hate to see what they would do with someone who is nit-picking every detail. Other contractors familiar with siding projects who saw TSP's work noticed poor workmanship in squaring up the window trim (gaps, unevenness) and introducing horizontal seams that will only encourage future water intrusion. Let's not even talk about the window that they broke and made no efforts to replace or provide any financial restitution toward. When you're replacing existing siding that has cracks, puffing, and clear signs of water intrusion, you would think that addressing some of the things that are on the inside would be anticipated. Nope, not for these guys. Rotted wood? Don't care. Wet insulation? Don't care. No weather-resistant barrier (e.g., Tyvek wrap)? Don't care. All they focus on is lipstick-on-a-pig (the top-most layer of the siding). The sad part is the items in question were _right there_ when they took off the old siding. It would have been so simple to at least quickly replace any wet insulation and put on some Tyvek before installing the new siding. I'm sitting there mentioning these things to the workers (only one of the two spoke some English) and they're just hurrying up trying to close up everything. I get it, they want to move on to the next job. I would have appreciated some due diligence and having the customer's best interest in mind but I know where employees get their direction from. Where the company really failed is at providing any customer satisfaction and support above and beyond what you get by hiring an experienced day laborer to do this work. When I called the "project manager" I was immediately told "oh, that will be extra", regarding my concerns about the interior of the wall. Well, it's hard to even do it at all once the new siding is going up. These are the things you want to do BEFORE you close things up. I then called two corporate numbers, one of them being the owner's, as I was concerned about their work not being up to code. One person at the home office told me to check with the city on code issues (basically, not her problem). The owner eventually came out as the bottom half was already completed and after a lot of unnecessary back and forth ("we don't do that stuff; we just put it back the way it was"), he asked his guy to go get some Tyvek and insulation from Home Depot (where his dilapidated company truck broke down). The whole time he's trying to make a big deal of the extra cost of the wrap and insulation. I guess he wasn't making enough profit already charging 2 to 2.5 times what it would cost me to just hire one of the guys directly. "Nickel and dime"-ing your customers on shoddy work is not how one should run a business. Home construction, especially at the outer-most layers, is not rocket science. There are plenty of qualified people out there who can do the work. The whole point of hiring a company and not some random individual is that they're supposed to meet higher standards of quality and integrity. That was definitely not my experience with Texas Star Painting.
Response from Texas Star Painting, LLC.

"Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to discuss your concerns earlier. We take customer feedback very seriously, and apologize that we failed to provide the quality service that you expected and deserve. Your particular project was a little more complicated/involved than what our norm is - and we should have communicated that to you better, and earlier on in the process, once it became apparent. I sincerely apologize on behalf of myself, our crew, and your project manager Coltin. However, I am glad we were able agree on a final total, removing all of the additional costs - as well as a further discount to the final price - for your inconvenience in this matter. Obviously, we fell short of your expectations on this particular job, but I can assure you we will learn from this and use this as a learning experience for our future painting projects. Thank you for your feedback. Carter Hines Owner, Texas Star Painting"

It went great!! Casey and his team did an excellent job. They also coordinated around several other contractors while the work was being completed. I would absolutely recommend them, and will use they again next time I have painting to be done.

Probably the smoothest experience I have had with any home repair contractor. Carter's communication was perfect and the quality of work was excellent.

I can not say enough about Carter and his crew.  Carter worked (tirelessly!) with me regarding budget, questions, scheduling, etc.  He and his crew were polite, efficient and performed quality work - under adverse conditions, no less!  I cannot recommend them highly enough.  I will definitely use them again if the need arises.

Carter showed up for estimate. Price was reasonable and we gave him the job. Paint crew shows up and we never heard from Carter again. My wife and i had to do a few touch ups. Biggest disappointment was Carter never followed up to see how the job went. Next time dont give check to paint crew. The boss will then come by.
Response from Texas Star Painting, LLC.

"Hi [Member Name Removed], I appreciate the feedback as it allows us to make necessary changes to the way we do business - to be the best painters in the area. I noticed this review was from a job a little over 3 years ago, but I would gladly extend the warranty to cover any touchups needed. We make an effort to be involved in all of our jobs from start to finish - even through the end of the warranty. I honestly don't remember the exact details of my particiaption from this job on Nov. 1 2012, but customer service and communication are the cornerstones of our business. At the end of the day, our goal is to make sure we exceed our customers expectations with the finished product - and it doesn't sound like we did in this suituation, and for that I am sorry. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to make it right now. I sincerely appreciate your feedback and hope we can make it right in your situation find ways to make sure it doesn't happen in the future. Sincerely, Carter Hines Owner, Texas Star Painting"

hTexas Star Painting is GREAT.  I worked with Casey.  He gave me a detailed estimate, explained everything, and was able to answer all my questions. He was a pleasure to work with throughout the process.   Casey was also there the first day to make sure that the crew knew what we wanted done.  Robert and his crew were wonderful!  They were prompt, friendly, thorough and did a really nice job on our house.  They also did a very good job of cleaning up everything after the first day and after completion of the job.  Casey was there at the completion of the job to do a "walk around" on his own to make sure that everything was done.  He also did a  second walk around with me to make sure that I was happy with everything.   I noticed after they left that they forgot to caulk two windows and they came back a few days later to take care of it. They were not the least expensive estimate that we got, but I am really glad that I went with them because the quality of their work was well worth the money.  I would highly recommend Texas Star Painting.

Owner and workers were always on time.  Workers were efficient and professional.  Work was performed with quality and to our written agreement.  Price was reasonable. (I got 2 other estimates from Angies List and they were tied with the other lower one.)  The house looks great now!

Texas Star Painting was very responsive, punctual and professional throughout the assessment and estimating process.  They came in second to the selected contractor, but were not as thorough in their assessment of work to be done.

I had called out 4 reputable painters for bids and after milling over all 4 estimates I decided to go with Texas Star painting. They gave me a very competitive price. They may not have been the cheapest, but when I compared the cheaper bid with Texas Star I decided Texas star based on the replacement wood product which I felt Texas Star used a superior product over the other company. I worked with Casey who kept me informed of target dates and the weather. The Texas star crew came out and power washed the exterior on day 1, caulked and prep the house on day 2 and then came out and painted the house when the weather cooperated. The Texas Star team did a great job and I am very pleased with the results. I would not hesitate to use them again in the future or recommend them to friends and neighbors.

Carter and his crew did an excellent job for us! After shopping around for different quotes and references, we selected Texas Star to paint the outside of house, stain our patio cover and repair and paint an interior wall. Carter gave us a very good price that beat all of his competitors and then did a very good job of supervising his crews while they worked. He was very easy to work with. His crew were just as good. Very polite and attentive to detail. We could not be happier with the quality of their work or their professional attitude. If you are looking for a good painting crew, I just don't think you can do better than these guys!

Carter and his guys provided excellent service. I want to change the paint color from the builders beige that was on it to a darker color. Carter helped me pick a color that would go with the brick, and not be to drastic. My house looks amazing! They even took down the rain gutters to paint all sides, and removed some decorative wood and metal pieces before painting that wall. My only complaint was that we had to reschedule our initial meeting due to it being forgotten. The only reason I'm disappointed about that is because I work nights and had stayed up for the appointment. Carter more than made up for it in quality of service.

We sold our house at $10000 over asking price! Carter and his crew were great. One of the comments we got on the house was how nice the painting looked. Great guy and easy to get ahold of. Painters were extremely professional and worked quickly. They were extremely skilled in how they went about the job. His pricing is very fair as well. We have actually commented how much better his painting in our old house looked vs our new house. We will definitely recommend and call him in the future!

Carter and crew came in and finished out a bathroom remodel. They did an excellent job finishing the sheet rock, matching the texture , and painting the bathrooms. I will continue to use them every chance I get. ( Which I think is coming up soon.)

From initial contact to completion of the job, professionalism was the key word. Everything on their well organized quote was clear and no hidden gotchas. Painters were timely and very efficient. Also pleasant and enjoyable to have on site. Just excellent paint work on every item, and professional owner, Carter Hines! Highly recommend. We were very pleased.

I am very, very happy we decided to use Texas Star Painting. They came out quickly to do an evaluation and estimate and Carter answered all our questions and didn't make us feel as if we were under pressure. When we decided to have the work done, they scheduled us right away and the job went very smoothly. The crew was on time, quick and very tidy; I hardly knew they were there! Carter came by to check on the work during the process and afterwards to make sure we were happy and ndash; and of course we were! Overall I was VERY impressed and would highly recommend them.

We have used their services on our other house last year. Carter is really good at giving ideas and explains things in terms we can understand. He is very knowledgable about what colors look good and where. The project will take about a month to complete due to us being out of town and because of the weather.

I could not have been more impressed with the job Texas Star did and the people that did they work. They are very customer focused. They started the job on time, they worked hard throughout the job and they did an excellent job. You could not ask for more.
First, they began by pressure washing the whole house. After that they replace all of the rotting moldings around our house including the chimney. Once the wood was done, they chalked the entire house. Finally they went on to paint everything.
While they estimated a three day job, they were able to complete it in two. All the time the were very professional and courteous. I would recommend them unconditionally.
