"I am sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant experience while working with my company. I understand the stress that is involved during a home remodeling project, especially after a disaster like Hurricane Harvey. It pains me to have a customer that was unhappy after our work, but I also understand that it is impossible to please everybody no matter how hard I try. It just makes me even more thankful for the many customers of mine that have been extremely happy with my work and professionalism, honesty, and attention to detail, resulting in call backs to perform multiple projects for them. I would like to take this misunderstanding to clarify some of the construction process to all homeowners. Vendors tend to give contractors discounted rates for goods and services that they do not offer to the general public. This allows the contractor to add a reasonable mark up to the product without charging the customer more than they would pay on their own to acquire these products. This is not a dishonest process but is considered a standard business practice in all businesses that sell goods. This is what happened regarding this particular case, and I apologize for not fully explaining how business is conducted to my customer. This incident has made me aware that not everyone understands how business operate and I have since become more transparent as to how customers are being charged. I have also realized how important written contracts and change orders are today. The way of handshakes and verbal agreements can no longer be used as a standard business practice. So as much as it displeases me to have an unhappy customer, sometimes mistakes are necessary to grow as a person and as a business. I will take this opportunity to improve my business practices to better serve my community and future customers. I have never nor will I ever charge a customer for work that was not performed by myself or my company, or for any work that is caused accidentally by my company."
